On the way back, Claire lowered her head the entire time. She looked at the marriage certificate in her hand. She held it tight and let go, and after letting go, she held it tightly again.
When she reached home, it was already late at night and the air became heavier.
The lights in the mansion were already lit, and it looked beautiful from afar. Claire looked at the mansion where she had lived for years, and sighed as she walked in.
In the dining hall, the chandelier and the couch remained the same as it was before, yet Claire felt an emptiness in her heart.
Oh right, Asher.
Since they registered their marriage, should she still be staying here alone?
She should have stayed together with Asher.
Would he leave her here by herself, and refuse to see her as he did before?
Claire covered her face with her hands as she sat on the couch and wailed. Asher would be someone like that, and only he could do something like that.
“Madam—” the butler came over and softly called her, intending to remind her of her own behavior.
Claire buried her head in the pillow and lay down on the couch. “What is it?”
“Mr. Kens already found you a university. He enrolled you in the finance unit, and it’ll be in one of the best universities in Melford. I’ll arrange the rest for you. Mr. Kens is very busy, so if you don’t have anything major, try not to bother him.”
Claire got up from the couch in a rush and said, “What you meant was–even though we got married and I’m his wife in name, I still have to stay here alone. He’ll walk on his sunshine path while I could only covert in the dark?”
The butler respectfully answered, “If Mr. Kens has time, or if he has other arrangements, then he’d notify you.”
Claire felt rather upset and her voice became harsher than usual. “He even decided which university I’ll go to, and what course I’ll take. Tell me, what else has he not arranged?”
Only then did Claire realize that she had lost control. She lightly cleared her throat and said, “I’m sorry. I… I got too carried away.”
The butler watched Claire grow up all these years. Even though she was the master and he was the servant, Claire had always treated him like family. She was an orphan, so the butler was just like her father.
“Madam—” The butler sighed. “I’m not sure if it was fortune or misfortune that you married Mr. Kens.”
Claire pursed her lips and said nothing more.
In a private mansion on the outskirts of Melford.
A Lamborghini halted by the entrance and the door opened. Caleb Davis got down the car and walked toward the winery.
“Where’s President Kens?” he asked the person leading the way.
“He’s picking a bottle of wine in the basement.”
Caleb nodded.
This was a private winery under Asher’s name, and outsiders could not get in easily.

Caleb stood by the stairs to the basement as he leaned himself against the railings. “President Kens, why did you call me here so late at night? Do you have other matters to talk about besides drinking?”
“What else? Do you want to talk about work?”
Caleb quickly shook his head. “We can only talk about women or life when we drink wine.”
Asher pretended not to hear him and his fingers stopped on a bottle of 1982 Lafite. “What do you want for a drink?”
“Anything will do,” Caleb replied lazily, “you haven’t been in this winery for a few months.. What made you so happy today?”
