Chapter 22: Detached

I look at Ava while the king and the queen take her away forcefully from the entrance. 

It's been hell in these months for Ava, disobeying to her parents most of the time, she didn't do most of the things they ordered her but she wasn't the one in the wrong, their parents are, they usually hit her if she doesn't do what they order her and I hate not being able to anything to help her, I thought that their parents were good persons...

I almost run to my room before throwing off the coat and entering the bathroom, I toss my clothes on the pavement and enter the bathtub, as I absorb the ambient mana I fill the bathtub with warm water.

"Sigh..." I murmur before closing my eyes and dipping my head in the water.

I open my eyes slightly looking at my body while the blood starts to disappear.

After almost an hour I step out of the bathtub and dry myself with a colorful cloth. I hear a sudden know on the door, my eyes dart between the door and the stained clothes on the pavement, and my body swiftly moves before taking the clothes and hurling them inside the bathtub.

"Lisa?"

I try to recognize the voice by the high pitch and the tone after some seconds I acknowledge that it's Ava.

Hiding my body with the cloth I open the door, Ava stands there with a bruised eye.

My eyes go wide, "A-Ava!" Looking at her body she has dirt stains on her and some scattered bruises on various points, "They... Did this to you?" I ask her watching with surprise and a mixture between anger and sadness.

"Yeah..." She continues, "I didn't think that they would go this far this time, all they want from me is to continue the Royal Family, they rarely ask for my conditions or how my training is going." Her head lowers before saying, "Perhaps it's even decided whom I will marry..."

Her body trembles and the corners of her eye are wet. 

I frown and reach up to her before embracing her body.

She reciprocates and grips me with her nails, I try to support the pain while I am fatigued from the whole day, this situation is similar to before when she was with me trying to help me from those bandits I killed. Now I was the one who is helping her. 

*That hooded figure... They were so scared, and the color of their eyes was unnatural, they were so red, and they almost looked like bloody moons. Why those bandits were following them anyway, they could be even a child for their height.*

A month passed, and the tournament will start in a week, my body and my mind feels ready but I couldn't train perfectly this month, I was worried most of the time for Ava because her situation with the king and the queen was bad, and now it's worse. I see her fewer times in the week, somehow even with all of my free time I can't see her, some guards block me from going to Ava, she leaves her room only a few times in the day and this is only the times she was with her parents. It's my fault too for killing those bandits, the king is worried that humans will hurt her daughter, the bandits were humans and when it got found out it created some conflicts that were fixed thanks to the elven giving resources to the humans.

It still didn't feel right... I still have a bad feeling about some human people here in town, could they start a rampage and kill a large number of people? Thinking of how corrupt they are it would be possible, I don't even know if somebody did anything to know what happened to my family there, thinking of it, the nobles could be even the cause of something like this.

I start to walk in a corridor leading to the garden, the sun of this world still had to rise, I woke up early today because I wanted to breathe some fresh air before starting to train, I can use 2 elements with difficulty, and this was a fundamental part on the training I had in this month, though Jack didn't tell me anything on this because I trained this secretly and he didn't want me to train at using 2 elements.

I arrive in the garden, with the starting rays coming from the sun reflecting on a puddle from yesterday, the maids have forgotten to restore that part of the garden.

I start to do some stretching before absorbing the impure mana from the ambient, the ambient mana starts to enter inside my bones, reinforcing them and making my body less heavy.
