Chapter 148: High-School Drama (2).

"I didn't know the job of a middle school teacher could be this fun..." A friend of Fuyumi said to Fuyumi with a wry smile on her face.

After entering the party, Fuyumi was bombarded with greetings from her friends. The guys were more enthusiastic in their greetings than their female counterparts. Aside from Fuyumi, Shido was also gaining some traction from the people at the party. The guys were pretty cool with Shido even though he was the boyfriend of Fuyumi. Most of the guys had tried their chances with her and were politely rejected. But nobody took a grudge against her nor did they do it with Shido.

The guy must've something that they didn't or he was lucky to propose at the right moment. That was the thought of the people at the party and they acted similarly to how they would normally act. 

'Looks like my plan was successful,' Shido sighed in relief in his mind. Putting on a good impression on Fuyumi's friends was the ultimate goal of this whole disguise plan and it was working. People are treating him nice and there's no one suspecting him except that Hideo dude who he met at the entrance.

'Well, one guy's suspicion doesn't matter...' Shido tried to reassure himself and went back to make some small talk with the party attendees.

"You got a nice piece out there, girl," said a woman who was standing in front of Fuyumi. She pointed at Shido who was talking to a group of men with a drink in his hand.

“Yeah…” said Fuyumi meekly.

“You gotta tell me everything, like how it started, for how long you guys are dating, and what are you guys thinking of the future?” asked the woman enthusiastically.

“Well… It’s a long story and we’ve been talking about me from the start. Why not talk about you now? How’s your love life and how’s work going?” Fuyumi tried to change the topic.

“Come on… Don’t be like that. Now chop-chop and start with the story,” the woman shrugged off Fuyumi’s attempt and pushed her more to start speaking,

Fuyumi had no problem telling the truth but Shido told her not to do so. This disguise plan was for her; if she did tell the truth, all the efforts would be in vain.

“Well, we met around two years ago, I was in college, didn’t know what to do in life, and wasn’t doing anything in particular other than flowing in whatever direction life was taking me. Then, I met him in a small noodle shop. He looked the same as me, he didn’t know what to do in life, but he was doing something to find out what his destiny held in store for him. He was still enthusiastic about life… So I started observing him, in hopes that I’ll get to know what to do if I could understand what he was doing.

Because of this, we met more and more… me observing him turned into me just looking at him mindlessly. Just gazing at him with a blank mind. I was confused… if it was love or just me being bored with this observation thing. But then one day, he came to me and asked why I stare at him for so long every day.

To not give him the wrong idea, I told him the truth… With that our friendship started and soon friendship turned into a relationship.”

“That… That it felt romantic but I cannot say if it was romantic… You left the details,” complained the woman.

“The details aren’t important…”

“Fine. Do as you please… but at least tell me what about the future? Are you going to do it or was it just a fling?”

“About the future…” Fuyumi murmured as she turned toward Shido who was talking to a bunch of guys at a distance from her.

“About the future…” She continued to stare at him,

“About the future...”

“Fuyumi. Fuyumi.”

“Huh, What?” The woman called Fuyumi out of her daze.

“What about the future, Fuyumi?”

“Huh, Yes… about the future… I want it to happen and I know he wants it too. It’s just life has been very tough on him, and we are going through some tough times… that’s all,” said Fuyumi with a lowered gaze.

“Well, it’s good to see that you two have a future in mind. My boyfriend treats everything like it’s a fucking joke. Never serious… I am thinking of breaking up with him.”

“Have you… Have you ever talked to him about this?”

“No… why?”

“Then at least talk to him about this… He doesn’t know what you are thinking, right? Then tell him what you’re thinking. Maybe he’ll put some effort into changing things about his behavior.”

As they continued talking, the woman asked, “Hey, what do you think about Isao Nagamine?”

“Isao Nagamine… Do you know him? CEO of Nagamine Enterprises. He is from our batch. Dude, he was the richest guy in our entire school at that time. Back then, he had money, looks, and a good personality but still the dude never let any of it get into his head. No fights, No bickering… and the guy never even tried to steal other bros' girls… He followed the bro code to the teeth. Respect for that. He got a hell lot of girls fangirl over him. Bitches here, Bitches there… Bitches Everywhere for my man, Isao.

Every junior wanted to be like him… hell even I was one of them. You got to meet Isao, man. You’ll be impressed to see how perfect my dude is,” A man with a funky hairstyle and yellow hair said to Shido.

“Well… from the way you’re talking about him, He seems to be a great guy.”

“I bet he is…” said the man with the funky hairstyle and took a sip from the wine glass.

“It’s good… but I don’t see how this matter concerns Fuyumi.”

This was the reason why Shido started talking to this man in the first place. The man just appeared out of nowhere and took Shido to a corner to tell him ‘something important about Fuyumi.’ Shido complied but the moment this man opened his mouth, he is singing praises of some guy named Isao Nagamine.

Finally, Shido asked the man what does he wants to talk about and end this ‘Praising Isao Session.’

“Bro… You retard or what? I told you it’s something important about Fuyumi, and then I started talking about some dude. Can’t you do simple 2 + 2? Get the point already. Just make sure your girl is at a safe distance from this dude. That’s all.” Said the funky-haired dude.

This made Shido a bit alert. “Why me specifically? I don’t see you warning every guy with a girlfriend at the party.”

“That’s because back in the school days Isao never batted an eye to any girl other than Fuyumi. And from what I know, he is currently single… Another 2 + 2 for you… what did you get? Yeah, the answer is he may try to steal your girl or Fuyumi may swing over to his side if the dude made advances. Just be aware of the dude.”

Anger started to rise in Shido’s mind as this guy just accused Fuyumi’s loyalty to him and their relationship in front of him, but before he could do anything, the man said, “Man, I am accusing Fuyumi… No offense but you got to consider every possibility, that’s all.”

“Let me give you a bit more details. Fuyumi rejected every proposal she got in her three years of High School. Have you met Hideo Sugimoto? He was rejected the most. Isao, on the other hand, never approached Fuyumi for a date or anything. He just stayed friends from the start to the very end. But one thing was for sure, he liked her… a lot. I mean you could just see in his eyes.

Most of us secretly rooted for them to become a couple… The best guy and the best girl in our batch. The best ship. But Isao never approached and Fuyumi never saw him that way.”

“So what makes you think that he will do something that he never did back then?” asked Shido.

“That’s because last month, he inherited the company from his dad because of his poor health. His dad is now in critical condition. Do you know what the old man with a leg in the coffin wants before he dies?”

“Don’t tell me it’s ‘Want to see his son getting married’…”

“Now you are using your head. So there is this pressure to marry quickly but the dude hasn’t even started looking for girls… That’s what makes me think that Isao will make a move on Fuyumi, his High-School crush,” said the man.

Shido massaged his forehead a bit. The moment he entered the party, he met the guy who was rejected the most by Fuyumi, and now this Isao guy… This party was getting harder and harder for him by the moment.

“Thanks for the heads up. Appreciate it,” Shido said his thanks and went on his way. He believed in Fuyumi… and her over-possessive tendencies. He knew that she isn’t going to swing just because of some handsome dude's advances.

While Shido was on his way, he suddenly remembered something and turned around, “I forgot to ask… Where is he?”

“Kyaaa! Isao is here!”

The man with the funky hairstyle just shrugged his shoulders and pointed at the entrance. Shido turned and saw a handsome dude with slicked-back black hair walking through the entrance with a girl slightly younger than him walking beside him.

As the man moved through the crowd of fangirls and some fanboys, his eyes met with Shido for a brief moment.

Shido, who after dealing with Genesis had quite the discerning eye for a person, knew this man was hiding something. It was not his business what he was hiding but the warning earlier made him vigilant of him.
