MCAB – Chapter 220

Ren Nanying’s group didn’t have a smooth journey to the infirmary.

As soon as they left the food court, a horde of zombies promptly besieged them from all sides. Thus, they had no choice but to run in the direction with the least zombies.

The trio ran in a triangular formation, with Ren Nanying running at the front. Ren Nanying was a prodigy in the Athletics Department, so she was naturally much more skilled at running than the two boys from the Music Department.

“Ahhhh! Fuck!” Chen Beimo screamed and cursed when he saw a zombie oneesan chasing after him. He might have wished for beauties to chase after him in the past, but he didn’t want it to happen in such a way!

“Can you two run a little faster?! Stop dragging your feet!” Ren Nanying yelled in annoyance. She would’ve long since shaken the zombies off her tail if she didn’t have to slow her pace to match the two boys.

“Do you think we’re from the Athletics Department? We’re just tender and beautiful men from the Music Department!”

“Can you not use ‘we?’ I never agreed to it.”

Jiang Mubai refused to have the word “tender” attached to his description.

“Now is the time to run for your lives. Can you two talk less? Quick, take this next turn!” Ren Nanying roared before turning left at the next junction.

They couldn’t keep on running like this because the zombies behind them had already called for their companions. Hence, they had no choice but to try and ditch the zombies behind them as soon as possible.

They were already close to reaching the administration building, and they would reach the post office so long as they continued running straight. The post office was located within the campus, and it had three warehouses situated beside it. One of the warehouses was dedicated to storing express deliveries, while the other two were designated to store everything else.

The warehouses weren’t particularly tall, measuring up to five meters only. Thus, they were relatively easy to climb so long as one had the appropriate footing.

Ren Nanying’s plan was to ditch the zombies at the administration building before heading for the post office’s warehouses and taking shelter on top of one of the warehouses. Then, they would continue advancing toward the infirmary once they were rested.

“Turn???”

Chen Beimo was stunned when he saw Ren Nanying running up the staircase. However, he quickly followed her without hesitation.

There was a reason why Chen Beimo was stunned. This was because the path on the left led to nowhere. They’d only be circling to the back of the administration building. Once they reached the other side of the administration building, they’d still have to come back onto the main path.

A minute later, Chen Beimo understood what Ren Nanying was trying to do. They were running in circles around the administration building, and so were the zombies.

The administration building was very big, so they didn’t have to worry about catching up to the zombies at the back of the horde. The zombies lacked the ability to think, so the zombies at the back of the horde would simply run after their companions at the front, completely unaware that they could see their targets so long as they turned their heads around.

If someone were present near the administration building, they’d be able to see the strange sight of two boys and one girl running laps around the administration building with a huge zombie horde.

“Aren’t they a little too persistent? I don’t think I can keep running for much longer,” Chen Beimo complained.

“You can stop running if you want to die.”

“I’m just joking, I’m just joking.”

Currently, Ren Nanying’s condition was the best out of their group of three. She felt as if she was practicing long-distance running, her mind instinctively ensuring that her movements were uniform. Unfortunately, the two running behind her weren’t in too good of a condition.

“Seriously, though, why are these things still persistently chasing after us?”

“Maybe it’s because we forgot to spray some perfume before coming out,” Ren Nanying said, realizing her blunder. They might have run out of Six God’s Power Mint, but they still had Jun Zishu’s perfume collection they hadn’t gone through.

“Must you girls still cover yourselves in perfume even in the apocalypse?! Is there a need to be so delicate?!” Chen Beimo exclaimed.

“It’s to cover our scent, you dumbass!” Jiang Mubai rebuked. He couldn’t help but get the urge to smack his friend after hearing the other party’s comment.

“Our scent?” Chen Beimo asked while panting for air.

“Our scent as living humans, idiot.”

Ren Nanying ignored the two boys’ conversation and kept track of the zombies in front and behind them. Then, once she felt that they were a suitable distance away from the zombies, she said, “I’ll count to three in a moment. On three, run out with me, got it?”

“Huh? Okay!”

After swallowing some saliva, Ren Nanying gathered strength in her throat before yelling:

“One, two, three! Run!”

At Ren Nanying’s signal, Jiang Mubai and Chen Beimo promptly ran away from the administration building following Ren Nanying. Then, while the zombie horde continued circling the administration building out of habit, Ren Nanying led the two boys to the post office.

The road to the post office wasn’t empty. Several zombies were wandering on it. When these zombies saw Ren Nanying’s party running toward them, they promptly grew excited and ran toward them.

There weren’t many zombies here, so Ren Nanying decided to get rid of them instead of trying to avoid them. Immediately, she ran up a car’s bonnet and jumped down to stab her knife into the zombie’s head, her actions looking very masterful. When some zombie brain matter splattered onto her shirt, though, she couldn’t help but frown in disgust.

Meanwhile, Chen Beimo and Jiang Mubai couldn’t help but be dumbfounded by this scene. During the first few days of the apocalypse, they had relied on the food kept in the teacher’s office to survive. Then, when they eventually fled the Art Building to the food court, they had run desperately while throwing caution to the wind. Hence, neither of them had officially killed a zombie before.

While their attention was drawn to Ren Nanying’s amazing feat, a zombie got very close to pouncing on Chen Beimo. However, Jiang Mubai quickly noticed this and sent a kick at the zombie’s legs, causing the zombie to fall flat on its face.

“Thanks, pal.”

Chen Beimo quickly snapped out of his daze. Then, he pulled out his weapon and stabbed the zombie’s head with it.

After taking care of the zombies on the road, Ren Nanying did not climb the post office’s warehouses as she planned. Instead, she chose to enter one of the warehouses. Meanwhile, the two boys followed her and closed the glass door behind them, making sure to lower the blinds while doing so.

“Fuck… I’m pooped,” Chen Beimo said as he exhaustedly slumped down to the floor.

Jiang Mubai also sat down and began massaging his calves and thighs.

Ren Nanying, on the other hand, did not stop to rest. Instead, she began browsing the shelves in the warehouse, an idea forming in her mind.

Quickly, she began searching for parcels holding clothing. There were many such parcels here, so she took her time choosing.

In the meantime, Chen Beimo poked Jiang Mubai with his shoulder and said, “You should be thankful that you didn’t win her heart. With that athletic body of hers and how she fought those zombies just now, you’d definitely be the one getting beaten in the future.”

Jiang Mubai rolled his eyes, having no desire to respond to his friend’s words. He already knew that he didn’t have a chance with Ren Nanying, and he had long since given up on pursuing her, so there was no point in bringing up this topic again. However, he had to admit that with Ren Nanying’s athleticism and combat skills, he would lose to her 100% if it came down to a fight between them.

“What are you looking for?” Chen Beimo asked curiously after watching Ren Nanying searching through parcels for some time.

“Clothes. I’m trying to find long-sleeved shirts and pants for Zishu. Her clothes had already become very dirty these past few days. I noticed that she likes to keep her surroundings and belongings clean when I stayed over in her dormitory. It must be very difficult for her to live in such dirty conditions, so I want to find some clothes for her to wear,” Ren Nanying answered, her hands continuously tearing open the parcels one after another. However, despite her idea of finding clothes for Jun Zishu, not once did she think of finding some for herself.

“There’s no comparison between us.”

Chen Beimo shook his head and sighed. If it were him, he definitely wouldn’t remember to find clothes for his girlfriend at this time, provided that he had a girlfriend in the first place.

“It’s a pity that it will be spring soon,” Ren Nanying muttered. She had wanted to find thicker clothing for Jun Zishu originally. However, because the apocalypse had happened when winter was ending, the clothes people bought at this time were mostly meant for warmer weather. Thus, she didn’t manage to find any thick clothing even after digging through many parcels.

Eventually, Ren Nanying gave up her search, grabbed a set of clothes that was Jun Zishu’s size, and stuffed it into her backpack. Then, she found two more sets and stuffed them into her backpack as well. She had wanted to take two more sets with her, but there was limited space in her backpack. After all, she needed to leave some room for the medicine they would be retrieving from the infirmary.

Room 412 only had one practical backpack. The other bags in the dormitory were handbags that couldn’t hold much stuff. Thus, when they fled from the dormitory, they only brought this one backpack with them.

“Hey, since it’s just the three of us here now, I want to ask you how you managed to patch things up with Jun Zishu?” Chen Beimo asked, unable to hold back his curiosity.

“Didn’t I mention the reason already? I think that she is the best girl in the entire world, and I can’t help but think that a certain someone is blind to not like her,” Ren Nanying bluntly stated.

“Blindman” Jiang felt as if an arrow had pierced his heart when he heard Ren Nanying’s words. Then, in an attempt to salvage his reputation, he said, “I didn’t know you were a lez before. That’s why I kept chasing after you.”

“I wasn’t one before, and I never knew I would become one, but I am one now,” Ren Nanying said as she picked up her backpack and leaned against a shelf to rest. Then, she began thinking about Jun Zishu, her heart softening at the thought of the girl.

In the meantime, Jun Zishu, the target of Ren Nanying’s affectionate thoughts, was in the midst of conversing with a different group of people while enduring her period pains.

Being the indisputable leader of her group, Jun Zishu felt that it was necessary for her to set things straight with the newcomers.

It might have been fine if the newcomers were friendly, but there were clearly people with bad intentions among the group of eight.

Everyone here was a university student. While Jun Zishu doubted that anyone here would be capable of doing anything too nefarious, it was inevitable for everyone to harbor selfish thoughts when faced with the problem of survival.

“Since you people will be eating the food here as well, we need to set things straight first. You’ll be responsible for your own food; we won’t take any responsibility,” Jun Zishu said as she looked at Chen Yang.

“Of course.”

“We’ll also be splitting the ingredients six-to-four.”

“We get six while you get four?”

“It’s six for us and four for you,” Jun Zishu said in an authoritative tone.

“On what basis? The food here doesn’t belong to you, and there are fewer of you here,” someone said in dissatisfaction. Although the other party consisted entirely of girls, nobody would care about gender in the current situation.

“It’s first come, first served,” Jun Zishu said, crossing her arms in front of her chest.

“We don’t care about first come, first served. We are all schoolmates, so let’s be fair. How about we do 50/50?” Chen Yang asked. “Also, you girls have already been eating and living here comfortably for a few days already. Don’t you think it’s too much to ask for a 60/40 split? Not to mention, our group consists entirely of boys, so we have a bigger appetite than you girls.”

“As expected of a science major; you are very meticulous in your calculations. However…” Smiling, Jun Zishu said, “We came here first. It’s none of your business how much we ate here before. Instead of envying us, why didn’t you try to come here sooner? Six-four. I won’t accept any negotiations.”

“Do you think we’ll just go along with this? The food is all here, so doesn’t it belong to whoever takes it?” another boy said as he stood up. Then, he began walking toward Jun Zishu’s group threateningly.

Liu Manman and the others looked at the boy warily. Then, they quickly stood in front of Jun Zishu, shielding her from the boy.

Meanwhile, the other boys walked over to where the ingredients were and crossed their arms while looking at Jun Zishu’s group, making their intent to monopolize the ingredients known.

“You guys are being too unreasonable!” Liu Manman said angrily. She felt that Jun Zishu’s demand for 60% of the ingredients wasn’t excessive. After all, they were the ones who came here first. Moreover, they, too, had eight mouths to feed.

“You were the ones who were being unreasonable first.”

“Alright, then. If you really must do this…” Pushing away the person standing before her, Jun Zishu walked up to the boy who stood in their way. “Don’t blame me for ignoring the friendship between schoolmates.”

Wearing a smile on her face, Jun Zishu suddenly grabbed the boy’s neck and forced him to turn toward the other boys. Then, she rested the tip of her fruit knife against the boy’s neck while holding him in a chokehold.
