While Li Yi was undertaking the ‘test’, he contacted Jiaojiao from time to time to check her progress on the Ancient King Series Dungeon.
The Normal-mode Instance of the Ancient King Series Dungeon was extremely easy, a total lunchbox. Hence, he was reluctant to even attempt the First Kill. To add on, the lack of additional rewards struggled to keep him interested.
The Heroic difficulty was acceptable, but one must first complete the Normal difficulty in order to attempt the former. For Li Yi, the Normal difficulty was simply a waste of time, thus he planned to let Jiaojiao go through it instead so that he could join up the next time when she went for the Heroic difficulty.
When Li Yi killed the 100th demon, Alleria appeared to conclude the test and invited him to the Defiants’ Home.
“Milady, I think that isn’t proper.”
“You have proven yourself with your deeds. Let us go, human, I shall vouch for you.”
Inviting Li Yi was entirely her own decision as she was unhappy with the ‘test’ issued by the ‘Chief’.
According to the main storyline, Alleria would be detained by the ‘Chief’ in so doing and he would be banished until he succeeded in defeating the Fifth or Fourth Demon God of Sin City. Then and only then would the Defiants’ Home be reopened to him.
If he were to accept her request, he would not be returning to the Defiants’ Home for a long time. However, he would get to learn the Transformation Spell early, a skill that was indispensable in Foreignland.
Li Yi did not join Alleria. Instead, he slipped away and resumed killing the demons that exited Sin City.
Alleria returned to look for him, but due to Li Yi’s deliberate evasion, her efforts proved fruitless.
The only way to pass the test and earn her trust was to fully complete the task alone.
The process of killing 1000 demons was exasperating. Li Yi could not find any demons despite having toured the area around Sin City twice.
By the time the number of demons killed displayed in the taskbar hit 500, five days had already passed…
In five days, the small party led by Jiaojiao completed 13 dungeons of the Ancient King. They were far ahead of the other large, medium, and small teams, keeping up with the leading guilds such as the Fluttering Snow Alliance and Assembled Gods. They had not fallen behind.
Jiaojiao’s Holy attribute had reached 186 points. Qian’er was as high as 166 points. The duo was unstoppable in the face of petty dungeon mobs. Boss battles might hinder them, but only slightly.
When one’s attack was powerful, one did not need much technique.
On the ninth day of the ‘test’, Li Yi successfully killed 1,000 demons and finished the task.
Alleria appeared again, she was so surprised that she remained speechless and motionless for a minute.
[The Affinity between you and Alleria has increased by 80,000 points.]
[The Affinity between you and Alleria has become Adoration.]
Ten days of hard work had not been in vain, only a little bit more and her Affinity would raise to Worship.
“Come, we’ll meet the Chief and see what he has got to say this time!” Alleria was exhilarated.
Li Yi followed Alleria to the Defiants’ Home.
Alleria went to see the Chief, granting Li Yi freedom to walk around in the ballroom.
Li Yi went around interacting with NPCs to increase their Affinity.
When one first arrived at the Defiants’ Home, one could increase their Affinity with the NPCs via conversation. If one were to miss it, the opportunity would no longer be there in the future.
After a while, Alleria returned with a sullen face.
“The Chief said that the test is not over yet, you’ll need to kill another 1000 demons to prove yourself.”
Alleria’s hands trembled and he could tell that she was very dissatisfied with the decision.
“No problem.”
Li Yi readily agreed.
“I shall see you out,” Alleria snorted.
The white elf waved, and Li Yi disappeared out of thin air.
To kill 1000 demons was a thing that would make players go crazy, there were no resurrection points in Foreignland, and the power of the Demon God prevented any resurrection items from working. Once dead, one would be forcibly returned to whence they came for free, and the record on the demons killed during that run would be cleared. It was plain to see that this quest was indeed challenging.
Not long after Li Yi returned to Sin City, Alleria came and told him that the mission was over, and she was going to take him back.
“The Chief is making this difficult on purpose, you do not have to force yourself. You have proven that you are worthy, so please, come with me. I will appeal to the Chief to reconsider”
“Thanks, but I must focus on what I’m doing.”
Li Yi was determined; her cajoling did not matter.
With a look of resignation, she decided to join him, but as a spectator.
It was rare for him to see a demon. Even doing his best, he could only kill around 100 in a day. Fortunately, he was the only person there, no one would be taking his kills. It would be a pain in the ass once the numbers started growing.
This was another reason why Li Yi did not join the Ancient King Series Dungeon. Any more delays and he might be robbed of the luxury to enjoy this whole map for himself.
Time passed quickly. Every time he went online, he did nothing but search for any signs of demons. This lasted for five days and he barely raised his kill count to more than 500.

Alleria followed behind him. She did nothing at first, following wherever he went, until his kill count hit 500.
She started to assist in his quest, slaying demons by his side.
Alleria was a Vagabond and named Heroine of the White Elves. Focusing on both the Earth and Sky skill trees, she was effectively the strongest main tank among Vagabonds and Elven NPCs.
Alleria had a strong defense but ordinary attack power, so playing support was her specialty. Her buffs were various and many. They increased Li Yi’s overall attributes by at least 20%, and killing monsters took less effort.
At the entrance of Sin City, Alleria found a way in with her Air Dance Technique and it was not before long that she came out with a dozen of demonic monsterling trailing after her.
Witnessing such a scene, Li Yi was naturally happy. After firing the Orange Quality Bow in his hand, they were dead before he knew it.
She continued to lure the demons while he waited patiently. Their unspoken cooperation bumped up his kill count.
It took only half a day to complete his second ‘test’.
“Human, we can go back and report your triumph,” she announced with a much spent but buoyant countenance.
Their collaboration had also caused the Affinity between them to increase.
Li Yi returned to the Defiants’ Confederation for the third time, and Alleria again allowed him some spare moments by leaving him in the ballroom.
He ran around fostering Affinity, just like the last time. He then sat down in the ballroom, waiting for Alleria.
After a while, he heard a bang, and the door was kicked opened by Alleria.
“This is the third time; they are doing this on purpose!” She shouted.
Her emotion was met with silence. The NPCs in the ballroom stopped their game and gazed in the direction of the Chief’s room in awe.
“He proved himself twice with his actions, why do you still refuse to believe him? Why!” Alleria snarled.
“If you want him out, then I, Alleria, officially announce my withdrawal from the Confederation, with effect from today!”
A bizarre tone came from within the Chief’s room. Alleria groaned and fell flat on the ground.
Li Yi could not move, and other NPCs were shocked.
“Lock her up,” A hoarse voice came from within the room.
A pandafolk monk went in first.
The tone stopped and Li Yi recovered. He immediately entered the Chief’s room.
“Let her go, I will do it.”
“Hmm?”
“Please send me away, I will complete the third test,” Li Yi continued.
The room was pitch black and he could see nothing. This air of peculiarity and the lively ballroom outside formed a sharp contrast. If Li Yi had not come here in his past life, he would have thought it a penitentiary.
After a moment of silence, the hoarse voice said, “A day is the most I can give. Should you fail, never think of coming back. You shall never be welcome here again.”
The malice towards him was clearly done on purpose, but Li Y ignored it. He simply smiled and nodded.
Without the help of Alleria, forget killing 1,000 demons in a day, even 300 was out of the question.
Li Yi was forcibly ejected from the Defiants’ Home and went to Sin City alone.
The demons outside the City had not increased because of his third test. As always, the numbers were miserable.
Li Yi searched for nine hours and killed only 37 demons…
After another round, Li Yi looked at the time and stopped at the entrance to Sin City.
“Hey dude, need a hand?”
A pandafolk monk approached him with an unsteady gait and wine in his hand.
“Alleria is my best friend, you are her friend, she asked me to help you, so I came.”
The monk brought up its jug of wine and drank it whole, then threw it to the ground and strode straight into Sin City.
After a few minutes, the pandafolk monk ran out accompanied with hundreds of demons.
“Hey! Wataah! Wataah!”
Li Yi did not react. He saw the monk standing on one leg like a crane. His body twirled and gave a headstrong charge into the monsters.
“Wataah! Hey! Ouuuuuuuuu!”
Whirlwind Kick, Blast of Qi, Iron Mountain Push…
The martial monk’s kung fu had a solid sense of rhythm. After one move, none of them were left standing.
Li Yi promptly checked his number of accumulated kills.
It was 576!
