Chapter 1303: Pirates

On the other side, Wang Yu and Fearless led Javier to the damaged wall.

Perhaps it was because Javier was a professional in this field, the moment he glanced at the wall, he was able to discern what the cause of the phenomenon was. He turned to Wang Yu and said with certainty, “The damage done to the structure of the wall was mainly due to an item known as fossil powder.”

“Fossil powder? What’s that?” Wang Yu asked curiously.

Since this was an investigation quest, they naturally needed to understand the entire circumstances leading to it.

Javier replied, “It is a type of mineral that can only be extracted from the seas, and could break apart the stone structure within stones. However, this item is extremely rare and only the pirates from Harbor City possess it.”

“Harbor City?”

“Pirates?”

The moment they heard what Javier said, both Wang Yu and Fearless came to a sudden realisation.

It seemed like these two were the keywords to this quest.

However, both of them were stumped once more shortly after.

Both Wang Yu and Fearless had naturally not visited all 300 cities in the game, however, after playing the game for so long, they naturally had an impression of the names of all of the cities. Despite so, amongst the 300 cities, they can’t seem to recall a city called Harbor City.

“Where is Harbor City located?” Wang Yu asked gloomily.

“I don’t know,” Javier replied as he shook his head, before adding, “I think that you would have to look for Knight Wylie regarding this. Many years ago, Twilight City was taken over by pirates, and it was Knight Wylie that led the troops to push them back to Harbor City… He is probably the only one in Twilight City that has been to Harbor City.”

After going one entire loop, they still had to go back and find Wylie. Who would have known that that musclehead actually had such a valiant history in the past? No wonder he was the head of a city.

Quests in games always tended to lead the players in circles. Since only Wylie knew where Harbor City was, Wang Yu could only bring Fearless back into the City Lord’s Manor.

Upon seeing Wang Yu’s return, Wylie took the initiative to welcome him and asked respectfully, “Your Highness City Lord, have you found out the reason?”

“En!” Wang Yu nodded his head and told him what Javier had explained to them.

“It’s that bunch of d*mned pirates again!”

Upon hearing Wang Yu’s explanation, Wylie couldn’t help but cry out in rage, “I should have just eliminated them at their roots that year! Seems like they know that I’m no longer the City Lord and plan to take over the city once more.”

“F*ck…”

Even though Wang Yu knew that Wylie was just an NPC, this brat’s words had aroused some dissatisfaction in Wang Yu’s heart. Damn it, did he mean that Wang Yu was not as domineering as he was?

However, that was to be expected. Wang Yu and Quan Zhen Sect were seen as ferocious beasts that were not to be provoked, but one could not expect the NPCs to know what kind of players Quan Zhen Sect were.

Just when Wang Yu was silently cursing in his heart, Wylie urgently added, “Your Highness City Lord! These pirates are extremely violent and ruthless. Now that the city wall has been destroyed, if they were to kill their way into the city, they will definitely take away countless lives within the city. You have to be responsible for your citizens!”

The moment Wylie finished his sentence, Wang Yu received a system notification.

<System notification: You have triggered a hidden City Lord quest “Wall In Danger” Phase Two, Quest Difficulty: A, are you willing to accept?>

Upon seeing this system notification, Wang Yu revealed a helpless expression.

Previously, if the first phase of the quest was rejected or failed, his reputation as a City Lord would be cleared to 0. Now that he had discovered the true reason behind the “Wall In Danger”, if he were to reject the second phase of this quest, his reputation would likely become negative… at that time, Twilight City would definitely descend into chaos.

Wang Yu’s way of managing the city was the same as how one would rear sheep. On normal days, he would casually swing his staff to herd the sheep without putting much thought into it, after all, there was the NPC City Lord Representative. However, if the sheep that he reared were to turn violent and bite the owner, this would imply that the owner’s capabilities were lacking in managing them.

Twilight City was Quan Zhen Sect’s base of operation, thus Wang Yu would naturally not hope for such a thing to happen to Twilight City.

“Accept!”

Wang Yu immediately accepted the quest.

<System notification: You have accepted the hidden quest, “Wall In Danger” Second Phase – Pirate King”, Quest Difficulty: A>

Quest Content: Head over to Harbor City and kill all of the Pirates within 24 hours.

Number of Pirates remaining: 50000.

Quest Tip: This quest is a large-scale battle quest, please proceed with your fellow companions. The maximum number of players is capped at 1000.

Quest Reward: Maritime Road! Development of the west side of the city +100, Reputation +50.

<System notification: The map of Harbor City has been unlocked and can be accessed from Twilight City’s harbor.>

Following the system notification, Wang Yu opened up the world map. As expected, a certain part of the fog around the Lin Hai region has dispersed, and Harbor City appeared at that location.

“F*ck, kill 50000 pirates within 24 hours? Isn’t this quest too demanding?!”

Upon taking a second glance at the quest that was placed in his hands, Fearless once again felt how ruthless the game can be.

Annihilating the pirates wasn’t considered too difficult for Wang Yu’s party. However, this was actually a timed quest…

No one knew how big Harbor City was, and whether the Pirates would play a game of hide-and-seek with the players.

Even if the pirates had sent a team over to face Wang Yu in a direct confrontation, wanting to eliminate 50000 pirates within 24 hours was simply too demanding.

Wang Yu casually glanced over the quest in his quest tab before saying, “It’s not as if the quest is asking only the both of us to clear it… we can get up to 1000 players to help us. In that case, one player would only need to kill 50 pirates on average.”

“It is not as simple as you think.”

Upon seeing how lightly Wang Yu was taking this quest, Fearless was speechless.

This was 50000 pirates they were talking about, not 500. With such a large number, the pirates must have some sort of organisational structure developed and wouldn’t act like scattered troops. Once these pirates have a form of organisation and rules set in place, even if it was just thousands of them, wanting to eliminate all of them was an extremely difficult task.

At the end of the day, the situation couldn’t be summed up with just simple math.

Furthermore, the pirates were known for their brutality and thirst for violence.

The battles that Fearless commanded normally were small-scale mock battles, and it was fine if they were to fight against an opponent that had an organisation but had yet to establish any rules or regulations. If they were to face an enemy of a larger scale, even if Fearless could think of countless strategies to deal with them beforehand, it would not be able to guarantee their victory.

Upon seeing someone as overly confident as Fearless displaying some sort of humility in the face of such a quest, Wang Yu began to realise the difficulty of this mission. However, now that the quest has been accepted, they couldn’t simply give up on it. Thus, he muttered under his breath, “Perhaps we should head over and take a look before we make any preparations?”

Know oneself and know the enemy, and one would be undefeated in all battles. This was the case for large-scale team PK battles. Furthermore, now that they had to lead their group over to launch an attack on the pirates in their home ground, the information on the enemy was extremely crucial.

“Sigh…” Fearless sighed before agreeing, “We can only do that now!”

The coordinates of Harbor City in the seas wasn’t too far away from Twilight City and was only separated by two cities.

However, because it wasn’t located within the seventh district on the map, they could only board an airship from the harbor to make their way over.

Fortunately, the distance wasn’t too far. Fifteen minutes later, Wang Yu and Fearless landed at an inconspicuous harbor located just outside of Harbor City.

It seemed like the design of the game wasn’t too bad, and did not locate the harbor directly within Harbor City.

After alighting from the airship, both Wang Yu and Fearless stretched their wings out and flew over to Harbor City in the air.
