“Liches?!”
Everyone from the Dark Knight Commander assault team was so shocked as they heard Fateless’ warning. What could cause the Liches to move away from their posts?
Several members raised their heads and looked at the walls and they felt completely disheartened by what they saw too—Fateless was right. Although these black dots were still far away, they were quite obviously Liches.
“What do we do now?”
Vibrant Blizzard, Snowleaf and a few Elementalists anxiously looked at the Liches that were flying toward them. Then, they threw a worried look at Rakoff, who was already trapped and restrained by Qin Ruo and Homme Fatale. They had come this far. It would be such a waste to just retreat. And the Dark Knight Commander had just been restrained a few moments ago too— they were so close to completing the quest. How did things go wrong?!
“There’s still time.”
“Majestic Hero, there’re still about two… three minutes before the Liches arrive. Do we go on? Or do we fall back?”
Fateless, who was the first to detect the commotion, climbed up to a higher builder and looked at the west side of the streets.
And he saw several buildings on the west side had been taken over by hordes and hordes of Underworld creatures.
“There’s someone causing trouble!”
“He’s right there!”
Fateless hurried to his teammates and yelled, “Someone purposely lured the Liches here…”
“Fuck!”
“It must be those Netherspirit cunts! They better stay right where they’re fucking at right now because I’ll head down there and choke the living shit out of them!”
Black God was always the bad-tempered one. He immediately assumed who the instigators of this chaos were and stretched out his Angelic Wings and rose into the sky—his Shadow-type magic attacks were not doing much damage anyway. So, rather than being dead weight, he chose to scout the cowardly cunning scoundrels that were causing troubles to his teammates.
As he rose up to the sky, Black God saw a black-red silhouette flapping its Demonic Wings flying in and out of the streets.
It was the Demon Faction.
After calming down from his surprise, Black God put up his guard and reported the situation back to the team. Then, he continued his path toward the Demon Faction Winged Champion.
He did not really think that there was anyone from Angel Faction who would sabotage their operation—not even Netherspirit’s Claw. They would not provoke Hall of Heroes, Black Jail, Fallen Angels, Bauhinia, and Violent Army Clan all at once. It would be a foolish move—like poking at a beehive.
However, if the enemies were from the Demon Faction, he would need to be more cautious.
If there were other members from their faction conspiring in the area, they would be a great threat to his teammates who were taking out Rakoff at the moment. There were already so many problems when they were acting in the shadow, what if there were more of them? This could create a domino effect that could result in their efforts in taking out Rakoff to be in vain.
Black God had scanned the entire west side of the streets in the air but found no other Demon Faction players.
However, he was able to determine who the person showed up earlier was. It was a Bandit. A bandit whom he knew.
It was Tiger Cub!
“Shit!”
Black God immediately glided back to the plaza. “Guys, let’s retreat! It’s Tiger Cub! He’s too fast I can’t stop him!”
Black God was an Elementalist—his movement speed was, naturally, slower than Tiger Cub, a Bandit. That was also why Tiger Cub did not seem worried or panicky when he was detected. He had decided to not even activate his Stealth. They would not be able to catch up with him because he was one of the two fastest classes in H&G, the Bandits and Bowmasters.
“Oh that won’t do!”
Qin Ruo unwaveringly stepped back from his post and spoke to Majestic Hero and Homme Fatale, “I’ll leave the Boss to you guys. I’ll handle Tiger Cub.”
“There isn’t time.”
Black God pointed at the countless floating dots in the sky. “We have only so much time before the Liches get here. There isn’t enough time to defeat the Boss. Let’s fall back first!”
“No! Tiger Cub doesn’t have the guts to come provoke us alone. There must be some other players from Demon Faction in the area. If we retreat, they will be able to steal our kill.”
As he was talking, Qin Ruo activated his Angelic Wings and rose to the air.
“It wouldn’t take much time to chase him. I’ll lure the Liches away too! Black God, deactivate your wings!”
Right after he finished speaking, Qin Ruo turned invisible and disappeared into thin air before everyone’s eyes.

As he watched Qin Ruo disappear from the sky from afar, the Winged Champion Tiger Cub’s eyes were filled with anger, fear, and surprise. His Demonic Wings flapped anxiously as he was shaken at what he saw.
“Qin Ruo!”

Tiger Cub did not expect that his nemesis from the Angel Faction would leave his post this early!
As he inhaled sharply, Tiger Cub frowned at the countless Underworld Creatures that were roaming in the streets. The Liches were now lured away from the Walls but that was his only responsibilities—he was assigned to also lure Qin Ruo and his team out of the Buried City.
However…
Tiger Cub frowned again—he himself witnessed Qin Ruo’s gliding speed before. Although he did not know exactly how long it would take for Qin Ruo to catch up to him, he knew he had very little time to prepare for the inevitable.
Under normal circumstances, he could evade Qin Ruo’s Perception by activating Stealth and Elemental Camouflage. Yet, he could not do that right now. The Underworld Creatures were everywhere! No matter where he looked, there was always a horde of Underworld Creatures within a hundred-meter radius—there was nowhere he could land. Indeed, he could try the roof but the Cerberuses could sniff him out right away.
Spooking all these monsters out of their hidings had indirectly driven him into a corner—leaving him nowhere to hide.
Qin Ruo also knew Tiger Cub’s struggle too. He had spent a few days in Buried City himself so he knew all about the various limitations one would face when entering the Buried City. That would also mean, he knew where to look.
After gliding for about fifteen seconds, Qin Ruo saw Tiger Cub rising up to the sky and unrolling a Return Scroll.
As expected!
Qin Ruo, without hesitation, he made a 180-degree turn and flew past the plaza, toward the Lich horde a few thousands of meters away…

The Liches were a keen bunch. If they caught wind of any human activating Angelic or Demonic Wings in the Buried City, they would hover over to investigate—even after the said humans had retreated from Buried City. Therefore, Qin Ruo had to approach them and bait them away before they got to where Majestic Hero and the others were.
Besides, even if the Liches retreated to the city walls, Qin Ruo felt that the Demon Faction players who were hiding in the Buried City would just sit and watch. If they were to pull the same trick again, it would be quite hard for him to get back to his teammates and pull them out of the mud.
***
Qin Ruo spread his Angelic Wings after arriving at the air space 200 meters away from the Liches.
As soon as his Angelic Wings appeared, the Liches’ attention was immediately diverted toward Qin Ruo. Then, he lured them toward another direction, baiting them away from their original route.
After a few minutes of kiting the Liches, Qin Ruo then switched his Angelic Wings to Aquawings and flew back to his teammates.
By the time he returned to the plaza, the battle was already over.
Majestic Hero and Homme Fatale had had everything under control. Rakoff eventually fell after suffering rounds and rounds of bombardments from the mini militia of Tier 5 champions—even if he had a million HP, they would still be able to deplete it with their combined strength.
As for the Demon Faction players, they never showed up—not since Qin Ruo was able to lure the Liches away from the plaza. Not even after the battle was over.
Well, they could not stay in Buried City after the battle was over anyway.
After the death of Dark Knight Commander Rakoff, a deafening roar was heard from the direction where the Eye of Hades was located! Like a roar from the depths of hell!
As the roar echoed in the majestic Buried City, every single Underworld creature was stirred and awakened! Cerberuses stormed out of the buildings, barking at everything in sight, tagging along with the marching Skeleton Warriors in the streets.
In the meantime, the Lich horde flew out of all the city walls again.
And with an ear-piercing roar, countless Skeletal Dragons swept to the sky above the Buried City.
The Buried City was sent into chaos again.
The Demon Faction players would have nowhere to hide at all.

“Damn!”
“That must be the sign Qin Ruo and Majestic Hero had defeated the Boss. Shit!” The players from Netherspirit’s Claw and Scarlet Dynasty, who were guarding their own respective entrances in the Buried City, were also affected by the Buried City Uproar, “Retreat! Retreaat!!!!”
“I’ll take the rear. Everyone fall back!”
The Buried City had turned into a living nightmare.
Skeleton Dragons fell from the sky. Streets were literally flooded with Underground creatures. Liches were floating above everyone’s heads. It was like the end of the world—there was nowhere safe in the entire city anymore. The two clans, forfeiting plans to take on another Dark Knight Commander, decided to retreat from the Buried City before things turned grimmer.
***
After leaving the Buried City, Qin Ruo and his friends gathered at the Appraisal Shop of Savis Town. And as promised, the players from the Hall of Heroes had also retrieved the reward from the Eternal Barrier in Buried City—the fabled Ring of Vengeance.
Yet, what happened today also had also made Qin Ruo, Majestic Hero, and the others to be on high alert!
The Demon Faction players were at the Buried City too. However, they were not there to clear quests. No, the Demon Faction players were probing and picking fights with them even though they did not have a team that could take them on directly.
“Tiger Cub and his gang are not idiots. They won’t come picking fights when they have so few capable members and champions on their side. This is just a theory but they could be after the Dark Knight Commander too.”
Majestic Hero’s worrying words surprised everyone. Majestic Hero continued, in a grim tone, “If that’s the case, we must hasten our plan to activate the warp portal that connects the Angel Faction with the Buried City.”
