"Sorry for troubling you today as well."

Finally, after ten minutes of great anticipation, a girl who, for the first came to call me from the class, spoke in a shy tone.

To be honest, I didn't have much hope of meeting Mika-san again, given how introverted we both are.

But to my surprise, the innocent and timid, beautiful bespectacled girl, came to ask me even though I blandly rejected her proposal toward Ryuuta yesterday.

Well, I had a hunch that Ryuuta might have talked with her, but the problem was, why did she contact me again instead?

Well, nothing would progress if I also took an eternity to speak.

"It's no trouble; besides, you wanted me for something?"

I wasn't a person whom someone would like as a hanging out partner, and neither have I made any impression of being a nerdy genius, even though I have the capability to become the top scorer.

Reason. Obvious.

Upon hearing my remark, Mika-san started fiddling her fingers which generally signified that she was anxious about something. Still, this gesture would have seemed better if she had called Ryuuta, not me.

To be honest, if not for her cute antics, I would already have gone back since the summer was actively burning the shit out of me.

"Umm..for yesterday. I am really thankful for Kei-kun and his friend."

Well, something did happen behind the scene which I wasn't aware of. So before approaching the matter, I decided to get to know about it first.

"Mika-san, can you tell me exactly what happened since I haven't been in touch with this friend of mine recently."

I was thankful that Mika-san was such an innocent girl who doesn't know how worldly affairs works; that's why she nodded and commenced a very memorable and heart-touching story.

"...and he went away with a thud."

"Ah, I see."

I was doing my best to suppress the laugh I felt erupting out when I heard the details about the hero.

It goes without saying, that this person was none other than Ryuuta, since such inhumane strength, along with my familiarity, leaves only a single option.

But there was something that made me suddenly frown as I remembered from where her story began with.

"Mika-san...about your father. Is he abusing you?"

I mainly had evaluated from her story that no sane-minded parent would hit their child for being late, and given she was used to it, made my doubt clearer than before.

Hearing my words, Mika-san stole her gaze away as it seemed she was trying to avoid the topic, and in honesty, I would have left the matter too, if she wouldn't have spoken, since it wasn't my problem, to begin with.

But...

"I don't know if I should tell you about this, but after yesterday's event, I think I can trust Kei-kun."

Nativity at its peak. I mean, it wasn't me who helped her, yet she has made a bond which, from her perspective, could be trusted upon.

Well, I can relate to her , so I didn't speak anything and just nodded my head for her to continue.

"Yes, my father abuses me."

"How long?"

"Since I was twelve."

Saying so, Mika-san shivered slightly, seemingly because she might have remembered her horrible days.

"It was the time when my mother left my father alone because she found love in someone else. My father loved my mother so much, that my face and entire existence reminded him of her. "

Well, now it became apparent why such a thing was happening but still it doesn't mean, there was any logic behind such actions.

"So these sweaters?"

"Mm. This is to hide the burn marks and scratches I have given over time. First, he only slapped me once in a while, but recently, he has started using cutters and clothing iron to burn me."

Now my mind was unsettled. This was far beyond what I initially thought.

Human emotions and how they think generally, were something I was getting accustomed to. But this was a peculiar case where the psycho father was hurting his own flesh and blood like a broken rag.

I wasn't sure how I would have reacted if I had parents, and they would have tormented me. Probably, I would have left home, or maybe killed them instead?

"What have you thought, Mika-san? You can't go on like this, can you?"

Even Ryuuta had broken his hand; it didn't mean she could comfortably live there when these many things had already taken place.

Upon hearing my question, Mika-san grew flustered as she responded in a slightly hurried tone.

"Ah, no, I will manage, probably. I have a lot of dreams, Kei-kun, which I have to accomplish, so I can't give up on living. I want to go to uni and graduate like others. I want to work in foreign companies and...and...many things. So, I will tolerate things as long as I can, since *sniff*

Sorry, Kei-kun..but*sniff* this isn't stopping..."

It seemed she misinterpreted my question but eventually, it made me realize that this girl might lose hope in the future.

I never was good at consoling people, but looking at her tearing face and the things she wasn't able to describe through her words, I naturally put my body into moving.

Placing my hand over her head, I spoke in my calmest tone.

"It's okay, Mika-san. I know it would not help when I say it, but I promise everything will turn out right."

Mika-san didn't lift her face, and with a tug on my shirt like she was clinging for support, she continued to weep.

I wasn't sure whether I should be embracing her at the moment or not, so I just kept my hand over her and let Mika-san settle down.

She wailed her grief like she had been pent up for years as I stood there silently while I felt many gazes from the outside and the inside of the school, but honestly, I didn't give a fuck about it right now.

After some more minutes, Mika-san returned to herself as she spoke her parting words in a real rush.

"T-Thank you, Kei-kun, and I am sorry for showing such a disturbing sight."

Saying so, she ran away.

Well, I could understand since she was highly embarrassed to be so open with her emotions in front of a man who was near a stranger for her.

'Okay, then...'

Loosening my necktie a little, I took out my phone before I coughed twice to get my voice heavier and match the tone of my other identity.

The call rang just twice, before the other side picked up.

"He-Hello? Is it Black Bounty?"

Well, I got my second dose of cringe for today.

"Carl. I got a job for you..."
