8 - Evidence She Is Not A Witch

“Hold up a minute… were you serious with what you said just now?” Reines asked.

“I was serious,” Lulurun replied.

Lulurun doesn’t seem to know what even a child would know, she asks questions about this world with a straight face.

How can the mage who overwhelmed Reines and destroyed a magic machine so easily, ask such questions so bluntly…?

Reines didn’t understand at all.

Lulurun was also at a loss for how to explain it.

It’s unpredictable what sort of crisis she could create in this world, by sharing information from her previous one.

As both struggled, Reines broke the silence first:

“There is something I want to clarify before I explain anything,” Reines said.

The only question that never disappeared from Reines mind, the point where nothing would move forward until that was made clear, this is the only thing that she must make sure of as a Knight of the Holy Empire.

“Show me proof that you’re not a witch,” Reines said, pulling out her sacred sword.

She points the tip at Lulurun, a clear show of intention to slash her if she’s not satisfied with the answer. Regardless of whether she is or is not a witch, it’s important for Reines to continue her life-long mission of subduing witches.

“Witches are evil beings who use magic to toy with human lives and satisfy their personal interests, and the witch I once met was unmistakably evil, but, you are…”

Reines hesitates.

“I don’t think you’re a witch… you’re different from that witch then.”

Her behavior and words and actions don’t seem to be that of a witch. There is a reason this woman calls herself a Magical Girl instead of a Witch, and Reines needed evidence to prove it. If Reines had that, the proud paladin would no longer have to deal with this girl who had no malicious intent.

“Who the hell are you? Why can you use magic? That’s my question… now, answer me,” Reines said.

Struck by Reines’s true feelings, Lulurun worried for a moment then answered her with dignified and clear eyes.

“What am about to tell you isn’t a lie, and if you trust me, I will trust in you, Reines, and tell you the truth,” Keisuke said.

Reines nods quietly at the presented conditions. And then, Lulurun said:

“I’m not from this world.”

“What…?” Reines asked, shocked.

It’s not a matter of believing or not believing.

“You’re not from this world?” Reines asked.”

""

“I died in a different world and reincarnated in this world,” Lulurun said.

“You!” Reines snapped, furious at the silly response. “Are you making fun of me….!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????”

Her emotion is so strong it rocks the inn, they could hear the innkeeper shouting at them.

“I’m talking seriously!!!” Reines yelled. “I didn’t bother to set up this kind of meeting to listen to your nonsensical delusions!! If you make a fool of me, I’ll cut you down right now!”

“I’m serious,” Lulurun said, “I told you, if you trust me, I’ll trust you.”

“How can I believe that you’re not from this world?!!!” Reines snapped.

“Still, it’s the truth, if you don’t feel like believing me, just cut me down now!!” Lulurun said.

Lulurun’s eyes are genuine, with not a hint of hesitation or deception. Reines feels the pressure of that gaze and lowered her sword from Lulurun’s neck.

“Someone with eyes like those would never lie,” Reines said.

“Thank you,” Lulurun said.

“Now why did you trust me?” Reines said.

From her perspective, such a look of honesty from an opponent who she’d tried to kill several times over was extraordinary.

“Because I thought you were a person who deserved trust,” Lulurun said.

“… You, you’re definitely dying young,” Reines said.

“Well, I can’t deny that,” Lulurun said.

Now that Reines was calm, Lulurun continued her story.

“I look like a woman now, but in the previous world I was a ‘man’ and a bit of a great wizard,” Lulurun said.

“Wait, wait…” Reines said, “did you just say’ man’? No, you’re a woman, right?”

The questions keep coming, Reines puts a stop to them.

“Now, well, I am… a woman,” Lulurun said.

“But the world before? No… wait, that can’t be right,” Reines said.

“I was murdered in my previous world and, well, I deserved it, but I thought I was done for and lost consciousness, and then… before I realized it, I came back to life in this world and became a woman… no, I know it doesn’t make sense, even to me, but I’m not lying. ”

“So you died in your previous world and then came to this world and reincarnated?” Reines said.

“That’s what happened,” Lulurun said.

Reines is upset by the unbelievable stories coming out of Lulurun’s mouth, but she was listening to them seriously, she doesn’t seem to be making fun of Reines or was lying.

She listens to Lulurun talk about her life as Yokoi Keisuke.

“I could use magic in my previous world because I was a wizard,” Lulurun said. “I’m sorry to say but the magical technology in this world is inferior to the one there. The highest level of magic in this world is Super Magic, isn’t it?”

“Yes, there were no more levels after that, they shouldn’t have existed…” Reines said.

“The magic of my world starts from the Lower Magics to the Upper Magics, to the Super Magics, to the Extreme Magics, to the Ultimate Magics, and beyond that, the Transcendental Magics,” Lulurun said.

Reines can’t hide her surprise as she listens.

“Then that means, you have spells beyond the super magics?” Reines asked.

“The highest magic level I can use are Transcendental Magics, I don’t know unless I tried, but if I wanted to, I could probably destroy this world in two days,” Lulurun said. “I was limited to ultimate magics then because of my original world reaching its limits, but in this world, the limits are off and I could use transcendental… are you alright?” Lulurun asked nervously.

Reines’s eyes spin at the sheer scale of it all. “… That’s just piling it on, isn’t it?” she asked.

“No, it’s not heaping it on, but…”

“………. I see,” Reines said.

In the face of those eyes without lies, Reines was at a loss for words.
