Chapter 3: Chapter 2: Exploring

I started the exploration of the jungle along with my summoned direwolf Nymeria. While exploring I used analyse on everything, I was surprised at how many deadly berries there were. I knew there were more toxic berries out there than edible but this was my first time seeing them, I was never much interested in forest tourism.

 

After exploring for a while, there was a faint scent coming from somewhere towards which I decided to move and what it was coming from, when I arrived there the area was beautiful, tall trees covered with fog. It looked magnificent. While I was appreciating the beauty of it all, it was all ruined with 2 vines coming out of the ground following with the plant. I was only able to see it coming because the fog moved unnaturally there. It was plant teeth looking closely, it resembled a 100x bigger venus fly trap would be my guess but apparently, this one didn’t wait for me to get close enough so it could eat me as, I had those vines coming towards me to grab me so it could devour me .

 

I took my sword out from it’s sheathe and attacked one vine after another , it didn’t took enough damage from my legendary sword after which I decided to retreat.

 

The only good thing was that the plant couldn’t move. With how suddenly I was attacked I couldn’t even check it with analyse. I wasn’t willing to check now in middle of battle either. I remember I was an immortal now, but getting chewed and sitting in its stomach dying and come back and dying again and again seems like a horrible way to torture myself and I don’t think I’m an masochist.

 

I was positive that I could easily retreat before 6 more vines showed up, I kept facing and defending against the vines while retreating one step at a time, when things got a bit more messy I charged my sword with mana and sent a strike towards its main body hoping it would move some of its vines to defend to reduce my pressure. Unfortunately, it didn’t work and it took the strike with its body it did leave a gash, which slowly close. The only thing my attack did was infuriate it very much.

 

I should have powered up more before exploring my powers as apprentice was too weak to face this monster yet. While I was cursing myself for following the scent.

 

After fighting for a few hours. I wouldn’t have even lasted this long if it wasn’t for Nymeria nimbly dodging and biting at the vines taking some pressure off of me. I didn’t had enough mana  to maintain both Nymeria and to additionally summon spells or another summon,reason for my current struggling.

 

After being enraged the attacks grew stronger and faster, while failing to defend one hit bypassed my defenses and was about to hit me when a ice shard hit the vine, it wasn’t that strong but it helped to kill the momentum and gave me enough time to retaliate with my sword, the ice shard was followed with a dozen fireballs from a young mage towards the main body, that attack by him caused decent damage along with arrows from a middle aged archer his arrows struck the same spots where the mage burnt the plant and a swordswoman who took me in princess carry and retreated out of there. I was baffled with the current situation.

 

 After getting a distance away from the plant, they turned towards Nymeria who was following me, she put me down, and prepared to attack Nymeria, I told them ‘that she was my summon’, but I doubt they understood what I said by the looks they gave me. When I realised they couldn’t understand me I went to Nymeria bent down gave her a hug then patted her white fulffy coat. From that it should be clear I tamed her at least, with all her happy howls.

 

After that I followed them to their place, I can’t drink an all language potion in front of all of them after all. While we were on the way I was dragging the party back due to my lack of stats and skills, my saviours couldn’t tolerate walking at my pace for a long time as the sun was setting and they wanted to go back, wherever they came from. So, I was carried as a rice sack this by the swordswomen.  Eventually I succumbed to my exhaustion due to the fight and then our journey back and slept like a baby.

 

When I woke up, the first thing I saw was an unfamiliar ceiling with Nymeria sitting beside me on bed. I was lying on straws, beside me was a man, a warrior of some sort was my guess from his build. He was there to make sure I wont do anything funny when I’m awake. After I woke up I saw him go outside the room and yell something.

 

I took that chance to buy the multi-language skill from the d-store. I also bought a demi-gods essense. Lets try and see if I can give skills to my summmons. I bought and gave the skill to Nymeria. That’s nice that I can give skills to my summons as well.

 

After my experiment succeeded, I now know how weak I am after meeting a monster and I need to get strong, I need a safe space to consume the potions as its not impossible to just loose my consciousness multiple times while consuming then with the unbearable pain I don’t want to be killed multiple times while I’m out.

 

If that venus fly trap caught me I would have died and revive and continue that cycle till I kill that plant or pour in a strong potion and let it die? If it could successfully be absorbed that wouldn’t that be tragic? I am no masochist, I have no plans to fight like that even if I am immortal I don’t want to be eaten alive.

 

While I was thinking about my weakness, I heard footsteps approaching. The one who entered were the man who left to call and her. It was the same swordswomen who saved me earlier. She had short black hair, a scar from her forehead going through her left eyebrow till her cheek and another  going down from her right cheek to her neck, it wasn’t that visible on the neck if you don’t look closely. With all the scars and covered in the armor the word beautiful won’t suit her, the word that would suit her better would be “heroic”

 

Due to previous fighting, I wasn’t able to take a proper look at her. I used my analyze on both of them.

While I was shocked having F rank even with 3 classes, Aldith spoke to me.

 

“Hello, my name is Aldith, I’m the daughter of the village chief of village lantcrest. How are you now? You’ve been sleeping for a while” Aldith

 

“Hello Aldith, it is nice to meet you, My name is Alexander, I am a wanderer, I am fine now, Thank you very much for saving me.” Alex

 

“That is good to hear. So, you can speak our language after all? What language were you speaking earlier? And what are you doing roaming in the jungle? With your skill in the jungle you would die very fast. My family while going back after hunting came across you so we saved you otherwise you were dead.” Aldith

 

“Yes, I can speak this language, I just wasn’t in the right mind after suddenly being attacked by a carnivorous plant.” Alex replied.

 

“That carnivorus plant is called Dionaea, it attracts people with its addictive scent, it’s no wonder someone as weak as you were affected and attracted to it” Aldith.

 

“Is that so….” ‘I don’t want to be called weak when I even have the d-shop’ Alex

 

“And what were you doing roaming in the jungle? With your skill in the jungle you would die very fast” Aldith

“I don’t want to roam the jungle alone either, its just my village was attacked by monsters and somehow my parents were able to send me away so I have been roaming the jungle to find any settlements to join” *sobs* *tears welling up in my eyes* ‘Ah, I miss my parents’ Alex

 

“You’re lucky. My family  came across you so we saved you otherwise you were dead. I will talk to my father regarding you joining our village.” Aldith

 

“Thank you very much for saving me and your attempt to provide shelter for me. I would however, like to decline your kind intentions. I would like to make a village of my own.” Alex

 

“How exactly, do you plan on establishing a new village? You can’t even hunt properly with strength like yours.” Aldith

 

“I will manage” ‘Looks like she really cares’ *smiles* Alex

 

“I would like to thank you, I have an offer you” Alex

 

“Hmmm? What offer?” Aldith

 

“Before leaving my father gave me this option. After drinking this potion, I’ll be really strong but very vulnerable before I can contain its effects. I want you to guard me, outside the door and ignore my cries of pain and after I’m done digesting the potion I’ll return the favour or you can just take this potion yourself and drink it, but I assure you, you will 100% die very agonising death if you do consume it. Its your choice” Alex

 

‘Lets see, if she will take the demi-god essense potion for herself or not. If I want to keep the angels and demons away, I need strong and trustworthy people.’

 

‘This is the first settlement I have come across after arriving in this world. Lets see if there is anyone trustworthy enough to join me in my journey here.’

 

“hmmmm” Aldith

 

“Can he consume that potion” Aldith

 

“No, he cant either” Alex

 

“Can someone else other than you consume this potion?” Aldith

 

“I don’t think so, No” ‘I lied, surely there should be some people strong enough that are just looking for this essense to become a demigod’ Alex

 

“How can only you, take this potion and live while others die?” ‘How does a potion distinguish between people?’ Aldith

 

“Ah, that….it is a potion that resonates with our bloodline so only people of our bloodline can take it and live. You are my saviour and genuinely kind that’s why I told you it is very dangerous for you. But if you forcefully take it from me I can do nothing. So I warned you in advance” Alex

 

‘I don’t know how much flaws this explanation has, I just made it up just now after all. She looks like she is seriously contemplating it’

 

After a few minutes I got my reply.

 

*sigh* “Ok, I can agree to guard you, but how can I be sure you wont harm me or the people of our village after you get stronger” Aldith

 

“I can promise I wont harm you and your village after I get stronger, but I doubt promises will work. So, how can I make you believe” Alex

 

“After your village was destroyed the only closest thing to your family is your wolf so we will keep it with us as assurance for the duration of your stay with us. Don’t worry no harm will come to it and we can't exactly leave a wolf to roam around freely in the village” Aldith

 

Those words got a growl from Nymeria.

 

“Its not a wolf, its a direwolf and her is name is Nymeria.” Alex

 

*Pats Nymeria’s head*

 

‘Go with her for a few days, I’ll take you back soon. Wait for me.’

 

*howl* she agreed with a howl

 

“So, you only need me to stand guard at the door for a few days and ignore your cries right?” Aldith

 

“Yes, and I will surely repay you generously for all the help you have shown me” Alex

 

 

“Lets go then Nymeria” Aldith

 

 

Nymeria rubbed her head on my lap a few times before moving and look back behind once it reached the gate then continued following aldith.

 

After all 3 of them left. I opened my d-shop and bought the things I needed namely new classes, legendary heart of a dragon, demi-gods essense. I’m honestly scared to consume them and take the new classes because I’m 100% sure I’ll die and my body will be rebuilt.

 

I took a deep breath, Whatever happens happens, if I want to become strong enough to keep angels and demons out of here here I need to do this.

 

So I consumed to potions and bought the new classes and my agony began.
