Context: I have improved a lot as an author over the last year, but MGS does not improve along with me. I introduced too many characters early on and I simply get fatigued trying to keep up with them all. None of them get the development they need, and I get no new patrons in the Patreon these days either. Just one of my books on Amazon has made more in the last year than that Patreon did this whole time.

So, if I’m going to continue this book, I need to acknowledge something: I will be doing the best I can with the framework I have. I wish I could tell you it’ll be the quality that I know I’m capable of, but I know I can do so much better with a smaller cast and a more focused story concept.

I’m posting a poll for you. I am not leaving SH, but I want your opinions about the future of MGS, because I see a few ways forward.

  1. Drop it and start something new, something I know can be better
  2. Rewrite it from scratch, dedicating all of June to getting the first 40 chapters out
  3. Continue it as is, accepting that it won’t be perfect and releases may be slower as I have to focus on things that earn money

I’m okay with all three of these options, but I need to be up front about it. There are advantages and disadvantages to each. For one thing, if I rewrite it I will have to drop Bonny, Etherea, and Ivy for quite a looong time, and anyone who came after them. I’d focus instead on the holstaurs, Autumn, and Rainbow Sprinkle. Obviously, Bonny is a big favorite of the community (and me, too) so that’s a hard pill to swallow.

If I continue, it’s going to just be mediocre until the ending. I’ll do my best, always knowing it could be better, and that stings, but it’s a way to go.

If I start something new, I’ll let the community help me choose the new concept, MC, and girls in a 3 girl harem. I’ll commission art based on the community decisions, and then go from there. But it means goodbye to MGS and making it an incomplete story, which KILLS ME to do.

But let’s just see how people react. I’m sorry if this lets you all down!
