“I am impressed; you even sent that old bastard away. It seemed like you really did not fear me.” said the old snake, “Curses are your specialty, and I don’t fear curses,” I said in confidence, that I was not feeling inside me.

The meta-scans of all humans appeared in front of me, and I could see how horrifying the curse was; it was designed very intelligently, with elements beyond the level of our world, which is the reason why it was able to affect people like Rai and Grand Commander, who have one of the best defenses against the curses and the other special energies.

I have asked both of my clones to study the curse; I have collected the sample from the sanguine smoke. It would have been better if I got the real sample; well, I don’t think I will have to wait long for that.

“Good, I do like crushing the overconfident people; they cry loudest when I fill their bodies with my curses,” It said, and the black crystal on the brown wooden staff lit up.

“Harbinger butterflies,” It shouted, and thousands of black butterflies with crimson eyes began to come out of its staff; they were coming so fast, within a matter of seconds, their numbers reached hundreds of thousands.

Rew Rew Rew

They have surrounded me from all sides; formed a sphere of black and red, and now they are coming at me; wanting to tear me with their black teeth or just seep inside me.

“Come, precious,” I said; I did not move away from my spot, even let these butterflies land on me, and before I knew it, I had got completely covered in them.

I am not suicidal; I have already estimated the strength of these butterflies, and most importantly, I wanted to collect the curse energy from them to analyze it. I already have a sample of energy, the Grand Lords have helped me get it, but I wanted newer samples.

For two seconds, these butterflies did not; they just covered me later by later, till hundreds of layers formed around me before they finally began.

Tink Tink Tink

A metallic-sort sound rang before it turned canopy, as thousands of butterflies repeated them as they tried to tear through my armor with their sharp black teeth, made of extremely powerful energy that could simply tear apart anything the curse energy touched.

Thousands of butterflies are covering me, with all of them are trying to eat my armor but have not succeeded; seeing that, they begin to use their full power.

Hundreds of layers of butterflies began to transfer their energy to butterflies touching me, and instantly, their strength had grown hundreds of times, which would make them eat the armor of Grand Lord, but once again, not even a scratch was appearing on my armor.

It is not only due to my armor being strong, and it is, but also became of my curse constitution and many anti-curse methods I have developed.

They are working better than I imagined, which is why after more than a minute, the butterflies simply melted, trying to seep inside me.

I did not stop it, though; this time, I was far from being more careful; I didn’t want to infect myself with the powerful curse accidentally. That would be really bad.

Soon, a minute later, all the curses disappeared inside me, and I looked at the bastard; there was no surprise on its face; it was even bearing a huge smile.

“I know that cursed wouldn’t be any use against you,” It said, “Then why do you use it?” I asked back, and before it could even open its mouth to answer, I appeared in front of it and slashed my sword across it.

Sup!

My sword passed through it, but cut nothing; it dodged the attack, leaving behind an afterimage.

“Don’t be so impatient, Zaar,” said the old snake, appearing a few hundred meters behind me.

“Cursed Rays of Merxs,” It said, and the glowing orb on its staff released thousands of the cursed rays at me; seeing the cursed rays, I stopped in my tracks, and four hands came out behind me and moved toward the coming cursed rays, who had appeared in front of me.

CLANG CLANG CLANG

The cursed rays clashed against my weapons, and they were sticky. Instead of disbursing after the clash, they stuck to my weapons and came at me, and I let them.

“You are quite good at defending against curses, and all fault lies on me,” said the old snake and sighed. “It is likely because my curse, which had festered inside you from your mother and became sentient, it had forced you to study the curses and take this path,” it added, not with sympathy, which is for the show as behind the facade is bubbling hate.

“You have quite an active imagination,” I said and once again moved and, this time, appeared behind before attacking.

Sup!

“I would have loved to get a sample of it, but it was too late when I came to know about it,” it said, from behind me, once again dodging the attack smoothly.

Old snake does not have much of a conventional offensive in power; in that term, it is one of the weakest, but it is not a regular powerhouse; it does not need a conventional offensive power. It needs powerful curse abilities, which it has; in dangerousness, it is only level below the coven’s leader.

Now with this new curse, it had nearly reached its level of dangerousness.

So, no matter what happens, I cannot underestimate it, or I will find myself cursed like the others.

“Spectral Chains of Vradl”

It shouted, and thousands of ghostly cursed chains materialized around me; these chains were long but not huge, their wide as my fingers, but coming at me like snakes.

First Burst!

Seeing their power, I did not hesitate to activate the burst; while earlier attacks may be powerful, this one is level above them. If I tried to defend against it without the burst, there is a huge chance; these ghostly chains of the curse would envelop me, and that will be bad.

Like a ghost, they appeared beside me instantly from all directions and came to envelop me; I have read about this attack; it had once caught Lady Angela more than two hundred years ago; she was barely able to get out of it with her life in hand.

Crackle!

‘Ghost burning mist!’ I activated a method, and the crackling mist covered all four weapons as they moved to clash against the ghostly chains that came.

CLANNG!

The lance clashed against the first chain, and for the first time, a surprise appeared on the face of the snake for a fraction of a second before it disappeared.

As I had said, this attack was not a common curse attack; it had ghostly qualities. If one tried to deal with it in the normal way, they would be suffered greatly, which is why most Grand Lords would simply dodge its attacks.

Only three Grand Lords on our side have the ability to deal with it head-on. Matron Mavis directly burned it with her power, not to mention it had been two and half centuries they had fought alone; whenever she appeared, this bastard simply ran away.

As for the other two, they use alibies similar to mine but less dangerous, as this crackling mist had not only defended but also cracked the ghostly chain into pieces.
