The Great Flood had finally come. Ye Qiao frowned at the news. Fortunately, she knew there were no casualties amongst her family in her previous life but every family was severely affected by the disaster.
“Grandpa, I’ll call my family!” Ye Qiao said.
She knew there was no point in getting on the next flight home because she already knew that many flights had been delayed due to the heavy downpour.
“Hurry up and give them a call. Tell them not to worry. The flood relief work has already begun and our health department is mobilising people to help in your hometown,” Old Ye hurriedly said.
Ye Qiao’s adoptive parents told her that the river had flooded the village. However, they lived in the easternmost part of the village and the terrain was higher in that area so there was no flood in their houses. Many families in the other parts of the village suffered a huge blow and could not get out as the water levels were so high.
The people living in the coastal areas had started to flee in fear of a tsunami.
After hanging up the phone, Ye Qiao was ready to do something useful for her hometown. She contacted a reliable civilian relief agency and donated a lot of flood relief materials. Qiao Tian knew about the flood and was very enthusiastic to help as well. He discussed financials with Ye Qiao and donated another sum of money in the name of the company in hopes to soften the blow from the disaster. He even wanted to go back to his hometown and volunteer.
However, Ye Qiao felt that he wouldn’t be much of a help even if he did return to his hometown. He was better off calling for donations online and finding ways for disaster relief materials to be delivered.
Both of them and employees of Tian Yi worked through the night to find ways that could help the victims of the disaster.

Lu Beixiao, who was previously on vacation, finally returned to the courtyard house. He heard from Uncle Hai that Mrs. Lu had not stayed in the courtyard house since she came back from province Y.
On one fine evening, an old man and his grandson-in-law sat in the small courtyard playing a game of chess while Ye Qiao was still upstairs catching up on sleep. It was a chilly evening as a recent typhoon had affected the weather.
“Grandpa, my wedding with Ye Qiao has not been held. I plan to apply for leave in October to prepare for the wedding,” Lu Beixiao said seriously as he played the chess pieces. It seemed surreal to be discussing about the wedding now considering that the bachelor party was held two years ago.

“Both of you have been married for more than a year. It is time for the wedding to be formally held. By tradition, a couple is not considered husband and wife unless a wedding is held,”the old man said in a deep voice.
“Who said I was getting married?!!” Ye Qiao raised her voice as she came out of the room all of a sudden and glared at the two men playing chess.
She even rolled her eyes at Lu Beixiao.
! ! !
She still had not forgotten the embarassment she felt from the incident.
Lu Beixiao was slightly stunned at her remark.
Old Ye was shocked as well. He knew at that moment that she was obviously was having a conflict with Ah Xiao.
This was an extremely rare thing. The two of them had always been stuck together like glue and it was rare that they would quarrel with each other.
Lu Beixiao glared at his wife who was still obviously angry at him.
However, Ye Qiao just ignored him.
“Grandpa, we’ll talk about the wedding at another time. I have something to do tonight so I’ll be leaving now,” she said, wearing a volunteer t-shirt and a sling bag. As she finished her sentence, she started walking out of the courtyard.
“Grandpa, please excuse me,” Lu Beixiao said and immediately put down his chess piece, left his seat and chased after her.
As soon as he stepped out of the door, he saw Ye Qiao riding away on her motorcycle.
! ! !
He immediately got on his gigantic off-road vehicle and chased after her.
…
Ye Qiao was on her way to the stadium. A charity show was being held there to raise money for the victims of the flood. All the celebrities participating in the event would be donating the money earned from the show to the disaster relief fund and Ye Qiao was one of the sponsors for the event.
