Kai frowned at the value.

This was the amount Lee’s soul had given him. After seeing the number, Kai didn’t regret sucking out Carl and Mariah’s souls, either.

-Selene, kill him- Kai hissed.

Suddenly, his knees buckled and Kai fell to the ground, panting, a severe headache rocking his brain.

-Master…- Selene hissed, after giving a quick love bite to the soulless Lee.

Kai didn’t get up. He laid back on the ground, taking deep breaths. Too many things had happened, and he needed to sort them out.

Well, Boa-Constrictor blood essence is gone, he thought. So is my Armor.

Brigandine Bone Armor wasn’t strong enough to handle the might of D graded Skills. Its Quality had already decreased before, and when that last black lightning bolt hit him, it had finally vanished for good. His last Black-Steel saber had also lost 20% of its quality and now stood at only 28%. The move, Tiger Claw, had done some massive damage to it.

That was it, though. These were the losses, and the gains had surpassed even Kai’s expectations.

He recalled the Notifications.

Kai could credit his new saber move using Telekinesis for the vast increase in his Proficiency. If he had two sabers, then he was sure he could have almost made it to the Advance level of this Ability.

What came as a shock was the increase in his Advance Ability. After thinking about it for a long time, only one thing kept repeating itself to him.

Strong and targeted emotion.

All beings had some iota of happiness, as Kai had found out. But only during these particular circumstances of extreme welling up of the emotions did the true feelings come up to the surface.

If I want to increase my Proficiency, Kai concluded, I must manipulate emotions under a similar series of events.

The stability of Cold Suppression Ability, though, troubled Kai greatly. He just didn’t know how to increase it, despite using it many times so far against stronger Contestants.

Then came the notification of his Side Mission.

Kai twisted his head and saw Item-M crawling out of the puddle under the waterfall, her figure soaked wet. It must have cost her an enormous price to use that Shuriken, Kai could tell. Even then, he didn’t give her any more HP capsules. Two of the twenty had already gone, and from his experiences, Kai knew how big a difference their presence could become in a fatal fight.

Let her heal by herself, Kai sneered, standing up. We have plenty of time now.

He clutched his head, his eyes struggling to keep themselves open. The headache was now banging against his skull, and if he hadn’t let go of the Golduck Transformation, Kai knew he would have lost consciousness by now. The very awareness of the Spiritual Waves around him had been becoming a source of this migraine.

Selene slithered up to his shoulders and kissed his chin. -Master, is this food?- she hissed, pointing at Lee with her mouth.

-No, not yours- Kai hissed back, rubbing his head. -But I will have to turn him into meatballs. I need them for my Filth Manipulation-

Selene burst into a mass of silver mist and entered Kai’s head. Using Soul Chill, she sent out tiny bursts of cold. Kai almost moaned as he sensed his headache receding little by little. It was still there, but the coldness was keeping it at the bay.

I need food and a night of good sleep, Kai reflected. But the rewards come first.

Lee’s frozen dead body was lying on the ground. Kai looked at it and thought to try his Luck or not. After struggling with it for some time, he decided to at least go with the treasure chest for one Contestant.

A holographic key appeared. With a click, it opened the treasure chest, and then both the treasure chest and the key vanished. Kai waited for a few moments before scanning his Inventory for a worthless Item. But when he saw what he had taken out of Lee’s Inventory, Kai’s breathing sped up.

His hand almost trembled in excitement, as Kai reached into the Inventory, and took out the Item.

It was fist-sized, and if he hadn’t seen the absolute destruction it was capable of, Kai would have thought it was just a toy. The black blades over its rim glistened ominously dark under the blue glow of the chamber.

And Kai laughed.

Kai was disappointed upon seeing that the Bit-Beast was gone, but he had expected it.

The major issue was getting the Beyblade itself, and for that, Kai was truly grateful for the extra 2 points of his Luck because of the Title, Coin Master.

Not taking any more chances, Kai got himself 2500 Mission Credits from Mariah and Carl. Every day his Mission Credits were abandoning him, and he needed them to compress the Mission Time Limit at the end of the Main Mission.

Or so Kai pacified himself with this excuse.

Kai’s eyelids were becoming heavy, but he needed to do one last thing.

The girl, Maizie. The granddaughter of the Pokeball Expert, Kurt. He must find her before morning.

“They had locked her into an underground chamber inside an iron cage,” Petyr told Kurt, as the old man and the girl embraced each other. “You can see that she is not harmed. She is just a little shaken up by the events.”

Kurt lifted his head to look at Kai and Petyr. Behind the old man, from a window, Robin gawked at them, his mouth open wide. It was apparent that he hadn’t believed Kai could handle three 4th-floor Contestants by himself.

Petyr waved his hand at Robin, and the 9-floor Contestant backed away, determined not to give any more gifts.

“Thank you,” Kurt said, crying tears of joy. “Here, take this as my thanks to you two.”

Kurt took out a belt. On the belt, seven little balls shone in seven different colors. Kai and Petyr exchanged a look, and then suddenly the notification appeared.
