The northern city was one of the four majors regions of the human domain. Just like all three other parts, it formed a few decades after demons and villains showed their first appearance. Humanity was already struggling with beasts and monsters, hence making the appearance of demons deadly for them.
They had to retreat and thus four major cities were formed. All of them managed to hold on despite the difficult time and over a century has already passed. It seemed now that the human domain was quite stable, but Draco knew that was far from the truth.
It was just that the echelon of humanity was good at keeping information to themselves. Humanity was, in fact, lacking in every aspect, ranging from talent to technology, compared to every other race.
'I shouldn't get too distracted.' Draco thought, walking through the empty streets of the nightly city. He walked further and further away from the city until, eventually, he was on top of a cliff overlooking a vast forest. 'I am once again here.'
This place was called [Forest of Darkness].
Despite looking quite plain, this place was actually filled with ferocious beasts. Even the strongest heroes couldn't carelessly roam within this forest, as this place was extremely dangerous. Some would say that it was dumb to build a city near such a forest, however, humanity utilized it to their use.
Not only did it have an almost unending amount of resources, but this forest could also serve as a training ground to gain experience for future heroes.
"Now, let's get onto the hard part." Draco sighed, squinting his eyes. A thin barrier was covering the outer part of the forest, disallowing anyone to enter. Once a person illegally crossed the borders, guards would be immediately alarmed.
To enter legally, you at least had to not be a kid coming from a prestigious school.
Humanity valued their talents.
However, Draco didn't really care about the rules. He also knew of a way to enter alarming no one. He walked down the cliff, holding a map in his hand as he constantly looked around.
'If I remember correctly, it should be this place.' Draco walked inside a small cave, and memories flashed through his mind. Soon, he reached his destination. A small pond.
A small smile appeared on his face and Draco promptly undressed, putting everything into his backpack. He also took out the dagger and placed it between his teeth, just in case danger was awaiting him from the other side of the pond.
"This brings back memories," Draco muttered before diving into the pond. Coldness overwhelmed his body, but Draco held on and kept on swimming. Barely a few minutes later, a head popped out of the water.
"Alright, now I just have to find that place." Draco jumped out of the pond and dressed up, taking the map from his hand. It was something that he bought along the way here, even though it didn't show the entire forest.
It has been such a long time ago that Draco wasn't sure how much time would it take him to find that hidden place.
With stars glowing in the air, Draco walked out of the cave as he held onto the weapon, vigilant of the surroundings. His power was laughable compared to that of the ferocious beasts roaming in the forest, hence, he had to be quick and stealthy.
'Union will announce that they found this place in around two months' time, so I can't possibly wait anymore.' Draco was afraid that they would snatch that thing from under his nose since he didn't actually know when did they find it. They could have very well announced the news after two months.
It was better to be safe than sorry.
Determination gleamed in Draco's eyes.

A group of wolfs walked through the forest, sniffing and awaiting their prey. Above them, a youth with silver hair rested on the branch of the tree, keeping his breathing calm.
'F rank,' Draco thought, not daring to make any sound. Fighting against a group of F ranks was basically suicide for the current him, even if he used [Berserker].
A few hours have already passed since the beginning of his wandering, and he surprisingly made some progress. Thankfully, few beasts detected his presence, and he hid from those who did. He also made sure to not get swept away by greed and go too deep into the forest, or else he would die without even knowing how.
Draco saw the wolfs running away, so he prepared to depart once again. Stuffing some beef jerky into his mouth and taking out the map, Draco landed on the ground and walked into the shadows of the night.
Two more hours passed, and Draco had finally found it. He stood opposite a tree, which had a large hole in the middle of it. To some, it would seem like this place was a simple freak of nature, but that was hardly the truth.
Draco smiled slyly, putting the map away and walking inside of the tree. It was extremely dark, but his eyes promptly adapted to the darkness. Except for a few carvings on the nearest wood surface, there was basically nothing distinctive about this place.
"Really, Adam... you never stop surprising me." Draco smiled wryly, reminiscing about his friend who had originally found this place. He was also the person who told him about this place and how he found it. Talking about him, he should still be working at that bar right now.
Draco already took a mental note to go there soon.
A layer of mana coated Draco's palm as he placed it upon the carving. Immediately, the carvings lit up and a clicking noise reached Draco's ears. Smiling as he has never, Draco saw the ground beneath him sliding away and revealing a hidden vault. He jumped without thinking too much, dearly thanking Adam within his mind.
A pungent smell attacked Draco's nose as he looked around the small room with crazed eyes. Then he saw it. A little black tree with dark, almost pear-like, orbs hanging off its branches.
'I have found it... finally.' Draco peeled away all the orbs like a madman, smiling with his teeth out. His trash talent, which caused his past life to be miserable, could finally be changed. Finally!
'Adam, I owe you one.' Draco thought, taking a mental note to buy Adam a dinner. At that time, Adam was desperate for money and he decided to sell these goods on the black market. Unfortunately, the Union found his traces and took all the orbs with their unreasonable reasoning about humanity's safety.
Draco looked at the orbs in his hand and then glanced at the tree. It was shrinking rapidly until eventually; it turned into nothingness. Draco couldn't help but marvel at the mysteriousness of this thing, and the seven orbs in his hand.
It was stated that one of them could drastically improve someone's talent, but Draco didn't know by how much. Not that he cared. Draco placed all the orbs in his mouth and swallowed them thoroughly.
It felt as if his stomach was on fire as Draco immediately fell to the ground, gripping it tightly. Soon, to his delight, this hellish pain ceased and Draco stood up.
He felt it. Just from how mana flowed within his body, reaching even the deepest parts, he could tell. His talent could now rival even that of those geniuses from prestigious families.
Draco grinned happily.
This life...was going to be much more different.
