Chapter 22: She is not mystical, she is…

After Tanimoto left, Shun and the others walked along the poorly lighted wide hallway inside the Rainy Mansion.

Shun: “Hmm. Kidnapping a ghost? Then the kidnapper must be someone who can see ghost.”

Ayano: “I think so too. Although there is a possibility that the kidnapper might have heard about Satoshi-san from someone else, even gossiper like Nobuko-san also didn’t seem to know about Satoshi-san.”

Takato: “People with psychic abilities are a dime a dozen in this mansion.”

Ayano: “You are right.”

Takato glanced at her profile. Ayano didn’t show much emotion on her face, so he was not sure what she was thinking. There were many guys who fell for her when she was in high school because they thought she looked mystical.

Humph, I’m pretty sure she is not a mystical person. It is either she isn’t thinking about anything, or she is up to no good, Takato thought to himself.

Ayano: “But if the perpetrator really did steal the toilet bowl to kidnap Satoshi-san because of the incident yesterday, then doesn’t it mean Uncle Yamamura was murdered?”

Takato: “Wasn’t it you who make a fuss about a locked-room murder?”

Ayano: “I did say that but there is still possibility of suicide.”

Shun had been quiet like he was deep in thinking about something. After a while, he said, “Ayano, you always say goodnight to that Satoshi guy, right? If the perpetrator knows about Satoshi, then he might know about your routine too. Then, it could be possible that the perpetrator had switched on the toilet’s light last night so that you wouldn’t come talk to Satoshi in order to stop him from telling you about the incident. And after that they kidnapped Satoshi and took him away.”

“Hmm. You might be right.” Ayano nodded.

Takato: “I wonder if Satoshi didn’t make any noise when he was kidnapped.”

“I don’t think he did. He is always spaced out or reading a book. Maybe he didn’t even realize that he was kidnapped. By the way, I noticed Satoshi-san has been reading the same book for years. And I think he always read the same page,” Ayano said while tilting her head to the side.
