Chapter 39: The thing that appeared in the toilet
Ayano went downstairs and wandered around with nothing to do. When she bumped into Toru, he just waved his hand slightly and then walked away. It was a casual gesture, but perhaps he was just trying to hide his embarrassment.
Ayano wondered if it would be better for her if Toru really was her father. Then she entered the room with white sofa which Toru normally avoided.
Takato was sitting on the sofa while watching hydrangea in the courtyard and looked deep in thought. Ayano stood behind him and said, “Hey. Did you know that shichinin bishaku can make your wish come true?”
She saw Takato knitted his brows from the reflection on the glass door. He replied, “There is no knowing what would happen when you make a wish to a place like that.”
Correct. This was an appropriate judgement by a decent person. Hisami must have lost her mind for making a wish in a place like that.
Ayano: “No matter how deep her feeling was, they still ended up like that.”
Takato: “Did you hear something from someone?”
Ayano: “Yeah, Hisami-san told me something.”

Takato: “She came to you?”
Ayano: “We had a conversation while she dragged me by the hair. She seemed friendlier than when she was alive. She herself also said the same.”
Takato was perplexed by her words. “Which part of that was friendly?”
Later, Ayano left the room and went to visit Satoshi at the toilet. She wanted to ask him about shichinin bishaku. When she reached the corridor behind the toilet, she saw the window was opened. She felt bad if someone was using the toilet but she couldn’t resist the urge to take a peep. Then she saw an old man standing inside the toilet and the automatic toilet lid was closed.
Huh? She took a step back out of shock. A second later, she peeked through the window again and saw Satoshi sitting on top of the toilet lid as usual.
He immediately noticed that she had come and smiled to her. “Hi, Ayano-san.”
Seeing that Ayano didn’t give any reaction, he called her again. “Ayano-san?”
Ayano finally came to her sense and replied, “Oh- Uhm… Satoshi-san, have you heard before that shichinin bishaku can make your wish come true?”
Satoshi put a hand on his chin and softly said, “Hmm. I’m not sure. I don’t really remember about the things when I was alive.”
