Chapter 626: It’s Dangerous After All

While the miasma affected Lin Jin, the effect was minimal, so it couldn’t be considered an issue.

This gave Lin Jin a lot of reassurance.

He was worried that the miasma might impact him severely since he didn’t have the body of an immortal. Now that he was here, it seems that his worst fear was not going to happen.

Lin Jin proceeded forward before turning around to glance outside. From here, it felt like he was peering into another dimension from a unique medium.

It was like looking at an aquarium.

All of a sudden, Lin Jin sensed unique spirit energy that felt stronger than when he was outside. However, it didn’t feel as strong as described in history books; it wasn’t as dense as it was back in the immortals’ era.

This place was completely different from the desolated land beyond the barrier. Towering trees littered the landscape, and Lin Jin appeared to be standing in the middle of a lush forest.

What an interesting phenomenon.

Behind him was an endless stretch of desert, but inside this miasma-filled area was a rainforest of perfectly healthy plants.

Lin Jin didn’t travel on cloud as that would make him way too conspicuous.

After walking for a bit, he came to an abrupt stop. The foliage was so thick that if something was hiding within these woods, he would be unable to see them.

However, while the plants could block his vision, his senses never failed him, especially when it came to beasts.

Since a while ago, Lin Jin smelled a bizarre, foul smell from his surroundings.

And then, something happened.

From behind the dense thicket, a shadow pounced at Lin Jin. As soon as it opened its jaws, a foul smell invaded Lin Jin’s senses.

Expecting this surprise attack, Lin Jin had already fired his needles before the creature revealed itself.

Lin Jin’s mastery of the needle has improved considerably since the beginning. One could even describe his skill as phenomenal. As if it was struck by lightning, the shadow was immobilized with its jaws wide open.

This all happened within a few seconds. Turns out, the dark shadow was a large python.

Unlike the pythons, Lin Jin had seen thus far, this one had little plants growing on its body. If it laid still in the forest, no one would be able to notice that it was a serpent.

What made the python so deadly was its endless rows of sharp fangs. As if that wasn’t bad enough, it had a retractable mouth in its throat that could launch forward and grab its prey.

This was the most savage beast Lin Jin had met thus far.

Still, it was a beast. Lin Jin pierced his Psyche-Refining Needle into its body and his deterrence ability was activated to hold the creature down.

“Turf ghost python, Rank 5.”

“Adept in concealment, favors flesh, and despises fire!”

“The evolution methods are…”

The python’s information was listed out, allowing Lin Jin to learn everything about this beast from the extraterritorial land. What surprised him was the fact that the python was female and she would be laying her eggs soon.

That was why she needed large amounts of food. Even her method of laying eggs was exceptionally freaky. She would inject her baby pythons into the body of her prey, and they would start growing at an alarming pace.

It went without saying that this python was planning to inject her young into Lin Jin and use him as an incubator.

Just the thought of it was frightening enough.

“What’s the use in keeping a malicious creature like you alive?” Aside from being vicious and scary, Lin Jin didn’t think this ghost python served any purpose for being alive. Forming a blood contract with her was immensely challenging and she would be a threat if left alive.

“Dragonfire!”

Lin Jin invoked a spell exhaled a jet of raging fire. A crackling noise filled the air, and in mere moments, this massive Rank 5 turf ghost python was reduced to ashes.

The ease with which Lin Jin dispatched a Rank 5 beast demonstrated the extent of his growth in strength.

However, to be ambushed by a wild beast so soon was an indication to Lin Jin that this place was far more dangerous than the mainlands. He had to tread carefully from now on.

Lin Jin continued wandering deeper into the zone.

A while later, he tried looking back and he could no longer see the miasma wall. Instead, his vision was filled with large trees that stood a hundred feet tall and never-ending jungle foliage.

Half a day later, Lin Jin arrived at the top of a hill.

This summit wasn’t too high. Compared to some of the big trees nearby, it was only half their height. Still, it was elevated terrain and Lin Jin could see very far from up here.

“The scenery of this place is quite nice,” mumbled Lin Jin to himself.

Before arriving here, he thought this zone was a desolate and dangerous place. Now that he was here, while it was indeed dangerous, this place was actually brimming with life.

Forget Grassy Continent, the rich fertile lands here were even comparable to the United and South Continent. Aside from the miasma, every organism here was larger than those found in the mainlands.

Here, there were taller mountains and bigger plants. Even in the mainlands, one would rarely come across a thousand-foot tree.

The tree Lin Jin was looking at must be of a unique species. Its trunk was so thick that ten men probably wouldn’t be able to form a circle around it. Even the grass here was taller than him, and the wild fungi here resembled mini houses.

An idea came to Lin Jin’s mind – this place could be described as a giant’s country.

Everything was huge here.

Lin Jin had a colorful imagination. If the monsters here were gigantic, perhaps there were actual giants residing in this place?

Lin Jin used the term ‘giant’ but in the history books, this world called these massive creatures ‘giant spirits’.

A member of the ancient immortal tribes, giant spirits are, as their name suggests, giant. Their average height was more than ten feet, and some grew up to thirty or fifty feet tall. In the books that Lin Jin read, the guards who defended heaven’s palace were giant spirit generals.

There were many other similar legends.

Lin Jin started suspecting these giant spirits to have come from the extraterritorial land.

Lin Jin’s thoughts were interrupted by the sight of a human silhouette moving in the distance. He focused his attention on that person.

“Great Scott, it really is a giant spirit!”

Lin Jin was shocked. To think whatever he thought of would just appear in reality! About one thousand meters away, he saw a giant spirit about twenty feet tall moving around. It appeared to have a muscular build, and it had reddish skin. It exuded an intimidating aura with each step it took. It was wearing a suit of armor and clutched a long steel spear in his hand. Though, when viewed through Lin Jin’s eyes, it resembled a flag pole more than a spear.

Lin Jin’s curiosity was piqued by the sight of this giant spirit.

However, that wasn’t the most startling thing.

A beast was trailing behind the giant spirit.

It was a bear.

An enormous bear. The giant spirit in front was already big enough but the bear was twice his size. It was like a walking hill.

And yet, the sight appeared natural, since they were proportionate to the forest trees that were a thousand feet tall.

Instead, it was Lin Jin who appeared out of place here.
