Chapter 664: Mr. Lin Is Just As Young And Tender

Flames slowly emerged around Inferno Monk’s body, enveloping his entire being. Lin Jin sensed the blazing heat, and although he didn’t fear fire, he still took a few steps back.

Right now, Inferno Monk had to focus on recovery and recuperation.

Standing a few steps away, Xiang Yun stared at Lin Jin like he was a ghost. She still didn’t understand how Lin Jin managed to tame the spirit devouring ghost worms without being attacked.

Xiang Yun was no fool.

Quite the contrary, as she was a brilliant immortal.

She had secretly researched the spirit devouring ghost worms before and knew these worms were particularly vicious and resilient. They didn’t die easily and water and fire attacks wouldn’t work on them.

In other words, it was near impossible to defeat these worms.

That left only one possibility.

Lin Jin had tamed these ghost worms the same way Yan Shenjun had.

But how could Lin Jin know Yan Shenjun’s unique sorcery?

After being captured and imprisoned by Yan Shenjun for a few centuries, Xiang Yun understood her captor’s temperament well. The man never trusted anyone.

Yan Shenjun’s most reliable subordinate and even his male lover that he was most fond of and cared for couldn’t possibly know this sorcery.

Xiang Yun scrutinized Lin Jin and mused, ‘Mr. Lin isn’t exactly handsome but he does have very distinctive features. He’s young, tender, and quite suave as well. He also has nice skin and a proportionate body. Does Yan Shenjun perhaps prefer this type?’

Lin Jin noticed the beautiful fairy staring at him. Her doe eyes had been staring straight at him for quite some time now. Lin Jin may have had tons of worldly experience, this was his first time being studied by such a heated gaze, and quite frankly, he was losing his cool.

An immortal’s appearance was no joke. Even a divine beauty like Shang’er would probably lose to Xiang Yun due to the lack of an ethereal bearing.

‘Has this fairy fallen for me?’ Lin Jin was quite pleased with himself. Any man would be just as delighted to be stared at so passionately by a beautiful fairy. After all, that was proof of his charm.

However, Lin Jin wouldn’t indulge in romantic relationships as he had greater goals. If this fairy confesses to him later on, he would have to reject her heartlessly. There was no other way.

For now, Lin Jin retracted his gaze.

He had to continue refining the spirit devouring ghost worms.

Inferno Monk was fine now. How he would recover had nothing to do with Lin Jin. Even if Lin Jin wanted to help, he wouldn’t be able to.

He wasn’t a doctor. Or rather, he wasn’t a doctor for humans. According to the terms in the modern world, he would be a veterinarian.

He would care for anything related to beasts, but anything other than that would be beyond his expertise.

Spirit devouring ghost worms were amazing. They were hands down the best creatures Lin Jin had come across thus far.

Even Goldy with his Golden Crow bloodline, the phoenix, and even the Mystery Dao Sect’s Qirin couldn’t compare to these tiny little worms.

It may sound dubious, but this was a fact.

After refining them, Yan Shenjun used unique sorcery to control them, thus turning them into the perfect weapon against profound immortals. If Lin Jin hadn’t barged in there, allowing Inferno Monk to escape, the latter would have died then and there.

It was no exaggeration.

This alone proved how strong the spirit devouring ghost worms were.

No other beasts possessed that much lethality.

Again, the stronger a creature was, the greater its shortcoming. The greatest problem about this spirit devouring ghost worm was its excessive strength.

These creatures were so strong that even the slightest bit of carelessness would cause the user to suffer a backlash. Hence, their owners had to be very diligent when controlling them.

Like a double-edged sword, these creatures could harm their owner just as easily as their enemy.

Lin Jin didn’t know what method Yan Shenjun used, but he was sure that no matter what Yan Shenjun did, it wasn’t as skillful and flawless as his method was.

After all, this refining method came from the Museum of Deadly Beasts.

Just now, Lin Jin had used unique mana to stun these ghost worms, striking them at their weak points so they wouldn’t resist.

However, if Lin Jin wanted to use them, to weaponize them so they could serve as another one of his trump cards. Of course, Lin Jin would have to further refine them to make them obey his orders.

Lin Jin felt around his storage and looked awkward. To refine these worms, he needed a furnace.

He had quite a few furnaces and cauldrons but none of them met his requirements because he needed an immortal grade furnace.

After a thought, Lin Jin turned to Xiang Yun and saluted. “Ms. Immortal, do you have an immortal grade furnace?”

Lin Jin was only trying his luck.

Xiang Yun, who was still staring at Lin Jin, wondering what kind of relationship he had with Yan Shenjun, immediately snapped out of her thoughts.

“I do,” she replied with a nod.

Having said that, she lifted her fair and slender fingers to remove the earring pendant on her left ear.

Xiang Yun gently blew at it and chanted a formula. White smoke emerged from the pendant as firelight shone.

Soon, it turned into a furnace as tall as two humans standing atop each other.

An immortal grade furnace.

She really had one.

Lin Jin’s eyes almost popped out of his sockets. He mused, ‘This fairy has quite the asset here, and she’s bold about it too. She actually kept this treasure in such an obvious location but Yan Shenjun didn’t even notice.’

Brilliant as she was, Xiang Yun noticed the confusion in Lin Jin’s eyes so she explained, “When it comes to concealment spells for magic treasures, the sect I came from has unique teachings.”

In other words, they specialized in concealing magic treasures.

This was indeed amazing. If she never mentioned it, Lin Jin wouldn’t ever find out that her earring was actually a magic treasure, an immortal grade furnace.

However, all that mattered was he had this furnace to use. Lin Jin still looked embarrassed because to refine the ghost worms, he would have to activate this immortal grade furnace.

But he wasn’t an immortal.

He couldn’t activate it.

He could only seek Xiang Yun’s help once more. The latter didn’t reject his request because she was quite curious about what he intended to do.

One mortal and the other an immortal. Although they hadn’t known each other long enough, they could read each other’s minds surprisingly well. Some would consider these two to be fated with each other.

Otherwise, when Inferno Monk rushed out with Lin Jin, they wouldn’t coincidentally run into her. If Lin Jin hadn’t seen her and pleaded Inferno Monk to bring her along, none of this would have happened.

Lin Jin wanted to get a pelletization expert on his side to help him while Xiang Yun saw him as her savior. The only doubt that crossed her mind was when she assumed that Mr. Lin had a secret relationship with Yan Shenjun.
