The Sky Furnace was still burning. Yet, a human silhouette emerged, his body still covered in scorching flames. It was the body profound immortal.
“He’s still alive?”
Lin Jin was shocked. Although executing the Sky Furnace exhausted only a little bit of his strength and mana, Xiao Huo would need some time to cool down after that. Lin Jin didn’t expect the body profound immortal to survive this powerful attack, so it seemed like his attempt failed.
“B*stard brat, how dare you sneak an attack on me! I will skin you alive today!” the body profound immortal berated. He may be alive but he was heavily injured. The Sky Furnace had indeed almost burned him to death.
In fact, a few of his fingers were lost to the fire and his skin was thoroughly burned, and many of the protruding features on his body were burned away, including the part that was most important to men.
Even if the body profound immortal had reached the realm level that allowed him to regenerate with blood so he physically couldn’t die, the humiliation and pain were enough to drive him mad.
The body profound immortal went utterly berserk. Ever since achieving profound immortal realm, he had never experienced such shame, especially one that was caused by a mere mortal.
If word got out that he, a profound immortal, was wounded by a mortal, his dignity would shatter.
Mad with rage, the body profound immortal tossed Lin Jin a punch that exceeded a flying sword’s speed.
Lin Jin was ready to defend. The Four Ocean Gourd spat out a stream of water that formed several layers of walls in front of himn. The Clear Wind Sword also flew out, gleaming sharply, ready to cut the body profound immortal.
This engagement happened in an instant.
The enemy’s attack landed first, smashing the first water wall, and successfully breaking it. The force of his fist crumbled the second and third walls too. Good thing Lin Jin had the blood ghost envelop his body in advance. The water walls also reduced the strength of the enemy’s fist by ninety percent.
Finally, the remaining strength smashed onto Lin Jin’s body.
Even with the blood ghost protecting him, Lin Jin was thrown back hundreds of feet, almost fainting in the process. He managed to stay conscious because of the blood ghost and he had to spit out a mouthful of blood that was choking him.
The enemy was too strong.
Lin Jin’s eyes widened and he gritted his teeth.
He mused that he was still too weak and needed to level up his defensive abilities. He could fend for himself against half immortals, but a profound immortal was out of his league.
Unbeknownst to him, other immortals would be shocked to know such a thing happened.
Every immortal knew that body profound immortals were predominant in fighting, especially in melee combat. No other immortal could compare to body profound immortals when it came to a fistfight, much less take one punch head-on.
Lin Jin could definitely be proud of surviving one hit with his mortal body.
The body profound immortal looked baffled. He clearly assumed his last punch was enough to finish Lin Jin off, and yet, things had turned out differently.
The next instant, the Clear Wind Sword hacked down on him.
He used his hands to block the attack. Clangs sounding like metal clashing against each other reverberated as sparks flew. The body profound immortal actually used his bare hands to fend off the Clear Wind Sword’s attack.

“As expected of a body recognized as a magic treasure.” Lin Jin backed away at once.
He had Xiao Huo hold back earlier to regain his strength after performing the Sky Furnace. Now, Lin Jin had to admit that he was at a loss of what to do against this body profound immortal.
Since the man could withstand even the Sky Furnace, it proved just how durable his body was. Even when the Clear Wind Sword cut him, it only left a shallow white scratch.
That was it.
The two half immortals took this opportunity to sneak an attack on the people sealed inside the blood realm. Assuming these mortals were only insignificant ants incapable of fighting back, they could hold them hostage to threaten Lin Jin.
Then, they would have an advantage over the situation.
However, they didn’t expect Lin Jin to have laid down precautions by hiding the ghost worms in the blood realm. One of the half immortals didn’t realize it and reached over, wanting to break the blood realm, but he gasped immediately and retracted his hand. With shock in his eyes, he looked at his palm to see a worm diving under his skin.
“What’s going on? What is this?” The immortal shouted in panic for his ally to help as he tried using spells to force the worm out.
Only, how could ghost worms be removed so easily?
These were malicious beings handcrafted by the evil profound immortal, Yan Shenjun. After they were subdued by Lin Jin and obtained nourishment from the blood ghost, they became stronger than before.
The immortal couldn’t remove the ghost worms no matter what he tried. His ally, the other half immortal, was quite a decisive man. He quickly invoked a sword spell, and with his finger as the blade’s medium, he sliced off his ally’s arm.
Normal half immortals couldn’t actually regenerate their physical bodies, so this act had permanently disabled the half immortal.
Still, it was the only way to save him.
The man was twitching in pain but he thanked his ally.
“That thing just now seems to be the legendary spirit devouring ghost worm. This brat is truly wicked to even own such a malicious creature. We have to be careful…” Before the immortal could finish his words, his friend whose arm he had cut off suddenly let out a tragic scream before turning into a puddle of blood.
The death of an immortal.
“W-What’s going on?” The other half immortal immediately backed away in fright. His friend should have been safe after having his arm cut off.
Then, he noticed several worms crawling about in the blood puddle and came to realize what had happened.
When he severed his friend’s arm, he didn’t successfully remove the ghost worms at all. In fact, the victim’s fate had already been decided the instant the ghost worms entered his body.
No doubt, the horrors of these ghost worms far exceeded his imagination.
“I mustn’t touch those evil creatures!” The half immortal dared not approach the blood realm anymore, nor was he brave enough to join the body profound immortal and Lin Jin’s fight. After a thought, he retreated at once, probably planning to report the situation.
Lin Jin didn’t have time to stop him.
He had to focus his attention on dealing with the body profound immortal.
Using the blood ghost’s powers, he created a shower of bloody rain with ghost worms mixed in it. So long as the blood rain got onto the body profound immortal, the ghost worms could enter his body. Since Lin Jin was in a deadlock with the enemy, he knew the outcome depended on how many more skills and trump cards they could dish out.
Lin Jin believed the body profound immortal still had tricks up his sleeve, so he had to gain an advantage by striking first.
