Chapter 6: Deadlock (3)

Yang Zhang turned his head around and blew compressed air to the man's face, and it hit the man's right eye.

"ARRGGGHHH!" The man jumped backward when he felt another invisible bullet hit the edge of his right eye. He couldn't dodge it because his eyes couldn't read the invisible attack at all.

"WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO?!" The man yelled while covering his right eye with his hand.

Yang Zhang stared at him coldly, "What's wrong? Why are you backing off like that? I thought you said you want to kill me."

"SHUT UP!" The man started panicking in his heart. He didn't know what kind of ability he was fighting currently and how this goofy-ass kid suddenly became intimidating.

He started hesitating, thinking that he shouldn't pick a fight against this goofy kid in the first place.

'Should I run now?' The man thought. He didn't know what kind of unpredictable attack the goofy kid would do next.

The man took another step back, but Yang Zhang shot three times on the man's feet, which the man dodged quickly.

"Don't try to run. Arm for an arm, you hurt Little Ivy, my pet. I will make sure to cut your arm to make up for that," Yang Zhang said ruthlessly.

Yang Zhang took another deep breath, enlarging his lung, and dashed so fast, the man got nervous when Yang Zhang charged at him. He even forgot to activate his deadlock eyes and could not read the movement.

STAB!

Yang Zhang stabbed the man's right arm first, and the man screamed in agony, "AAAARRGHHH!"

The man staggered as he clenched his arm in pain. He tried to run away from Yang Zhang because the man started to get too ruthless, and he wasn't prepared to fight against this presumably goofy kid.

Yang Zhang dashed again, and this time, the man was able to use his deadlock eye, "Deadlock!"

The man could read Yang Zhang's movement, but not as perfect as before. Because he got one eye injured after Yang Zhang attacked him with that invisible bullet.

The man tried to find a weak spot while Yang Zhang was dashing towards him, but when he slashed in Yang Zhang's direction, the latter dodged quickly, and the knife accidentally cut the strap of the tote bag.

"Pii!"

"Vii!"

The tote bag fell to the floor alongside Little Ivy and Poddie inside. They rolled on the ground and called their master.

"Pii!"

"Vii! Vii!"

"Ivy! Poddie!" Yang Zhang was surprised because he didn't expect the man to hit the tote bag instead. He abandoned his attack towards the man to grab Poddie and Little Ivy.

The man saw that Yang Zhang prioritized his pets more than attacking him. So he took this chance to dash and grabbed one of the mutated pets that had fallen from the tote bag.

Yang Zhang had successfully grabbed the one near him, Little Ivy.

But the man also grabbed the other, which was Poddie.

"PII! PI!!!"

"PODDIE!"

Yang Zhang was about to kill the man by grabbing Poddie, but he aimed his knife at Poddie's neck instead.

"Stay right there! I will kill this goddamn thing if you dare to attack me!"

"No, Poddie!"

"PII!" Poddie was utterly scared. He tried to struggle to no avail, and he had no way to defend himself either.

"Release him!" Yang Zhang said.

Truthfully, the man also had no intention of keeping this mutated pet for himself. It seemed that goofy-ass kid would go into a rampage and kill him instantly if he dared to kill one of his pets, so he used this thing as a hostage instead.

"Stay where you are, don't move, or I will kill this thing!" The man threatened. "And drop your knife!"

Yang Zhang gritted his teeth, but the safety of his pet was his priority. So he dropped the knife and stood still, waiting for the next movie from the man who dared to use his pet to threaten him.

"Throw all of your medicine to me!" The man said.

Yang Zhang grabbed the tote bag and threw it near the man's feet.

The man checked the tote bag with his feet, and after making sure that it was filled with medicine and a first aid kit, he was grinning victoriously.

He grabbed the tote bag with his right hand, even though he was still bleeding from the stab on his arm.

The man looked back for a second and realized a river nearby, which would be enough for him to escape with the medicine. This goofy-ass kid wouldn't be able to shoot him with his pea bullet since he would be underwater.

"Stay still!" The man ordered. He started walking backward with Poddie as his hostage. Yang Zhang stayed still, and when his pets were about to attack, he told them to stay still as well.

"Don't do anything rash. We don't want Poddie to get hurt," Yang Zhang commanded.

"Viii…"

"Squeak!"

"Chirp! Chirp!" Lt. Spicy Wing and Chestnut were fuming in rage, but Yang Zhang didn't want Poddie to get hurt, or even worse, get killed.

He also didn't want Spicy Wing and Chestnut to get hurt either.

The man reached the edge of the river. He had no plan to bring this weird mutated thing with him because he knew Yang Zhang would chase him down.

All he wanted to do right now was to escape with the bag of medicine.

"HAHA! See? I still get what I want, you idiot! That's why I am the winner here!" The man yelled at Yang Zhang, complete with his mocking laugh. He threw Poddie to the ground while jumping to the river with the tote bag full of medicine that Yang Zhang spent days journeying to the east.

But Yang Zhang didn't stop there once he ensured that Poddie was saved. He asked Little Ivy first, "Ivy, I know it's difficult, but can you summon at least one vine to grab that tree?" Yang Zhang asked while pointing at the tall tree near the river.

"Vii!"

Little Ivy didn't want to waste her master's hard work, and she felt that it was also her fault for getting her vines cut by that evil human.

"VIIII!" Little Ivy exerted her strength. She was in pain, but she insisted, and two vines grew from her body. She grabbed the tree branch and pulled Yang Zhang to the top.

Yang Zhang landed safely. He sat on the tree branch and saw that the man was swimming slowly in the slow river. He must've thought that he was completely safe right now.

Yang Zhang looked at him coldly. He threw out all the pea bullets inside his gauntlet gun's chamber and loaded all the sky blue pea bullets inside. This pea bullet would rot in 24 hours anyway.

Yang Zhang aimed at the man's body. He was mostly submerged underwater but visible enough for Yang Zhang. He was sure that the sky blue pea bullet would work even underwater.

Yang Zhang closed one eye and aimed at the man with deadlock eyes. He then shot his first blue bullet from the gauntlet gun, and the sound was ringing across the quiet forest.

BANG!

PSHEW!

Yang Zhang gripped the branch because the recoil was so strong, and the wound on his arm must be so severe right now.

The blue bullet launched towards the man. When the man heard the gunshot, he quickly dived underwater to avoid it, but the bullet didn't lose its momentum even underwater and hit the man's nape.

"URK!"

The man's eyes widened. He was so shocked that he started drowning when he realized that he had been shot, the shot was so strong that the bullet pierced through his neck, and the man felt numb all over while he continued to bleed.

He could only look around underwater because and saw the water had been stained with his blood, which attracted a certain predator.

The man's eyes widened when he saw a twin-headed crocodile suddenly swimming towards him, but after he got shot, he couldn't do anything except for accepting his fate.

Yang Zhang saw a twin-headed crocodile suddenly pop out of nowhere and bite the man, dragging him somewhere far, which was exactly what Yang Zhang wanted.

If he shot the head, then it would be instant death, but since this guy dared to use his pet as a hostage, then a more gruesome death would be sufficient. That was why he aimed at his neck instead, which probably hit the whole nerve system.

"Don't ever try to hurt my pet," Yang Zhang said as he looked at the bloodied river coldly, and he pointed at the tote bag floating on the river, "Ivy, can you grab the tote bag?"

"Vii!"

"Ohh, and Poddie too!"

"Vii! Vii!"

Little Ivy used one vine to grab the tote bag on the river and Poddie with the other. She pulled them to Yang Zhang's side, and Yang Zhang hugged Poddie first.

"PODDIE!"

"PII! PIII!"
