It's been a week and a day into the new school life. So far, it's been a dream.
*Cue the fake laughter*
Hahahaha
I noticed that three female students in total formed a group and kept to themselves. Their names are Arisu Harigae, Kiyo Orito, and Tori Nakazawa. So where do I start first? Let me give you a speed run of the description of them.
Arisu Harigae has shoulder-length black hair, green eyes, fair skin, and is about 5'4.
Kiyo Orito has shoulder-length dark blue hair, which she wears in a ponytail, black eyes, fair skin, and is about 5'7.
Tori Nakazawa has chin-length black hair, black eyes, is a little bit on the tanned side, and is about 5'5.
Alright, that should do it.
Kyoko is friendly with everyone. The same goes with Eiko Tsuyoshi.
The only people that really kept to themselves were Yujiro Masaki and Minori Tadeka.
Well, I wouldn't say the both of them kept to themselves, Minori chose semi-self-isolation and people were sort of afraid to approach Yujiro. After all, he is a bit intimidating.
I reclined in my seat and looked at the ceiling of the classroom. Today is somewhat boring for me.
I heard Minori scribbling in her notebook again.
Just what is she writing in there? Maybe some poetry or fanfiction.
Hmm, I don't think I see her as any of those types. more along the lines of an encyclopedia. Besides writing in that book, all I've ever seen her do is study.
Speaking of studying, I am curious about why we haven't gotten the results of the examination as yet.
Eiko approached me and smiled warmly.
"Oh hey Yuki, I don't think we had a proper conversation."
She was right. I'd been familiarizing myself with the different areas of the campus that I barely spent time in class, only showing up right before the first bell and leaving as soon as the final bell rang.
"Hmm, you're Yuki, right?"
Her face lit up and she smiled.
Her smile felt somewhat familiar.
"Oh, good you remembered my name. I was getting a bit worried there because you barely interact with anyone, so I figured that you had forgotten my name already. "
"Yeah, I have this thing where I make it a duty to learn the names of the people I come across. I don't want to address another person by anything other than their given name."
She chuckled in a cute manner and touched my upper arm.
Is she flirting with me or something?
"I get it. The class is having a small hang out at the café, so I was wondering if you wanted to come."
Hmm, a class hang out. That sounds a bit tedious, but maybe I should go. After all, I did say I want to experience school life in a normal way, so I am pretty sure class hangouts are normal.
"Yeah sure, no problem, that sounds fine."
Eiko then leaned over and whispered in my ear.
"See if you can get Minori as well. I think if you invite her she will agree."
Well, I have no idea what she means by that the only time I interact with her is during class with a usual good morning or I'll occasionally see her outside the dorms because we are neighbors.
After putting on a confused smile

"Sure. I'll see what I can do."
Eiko replied, "Great," and then went back to her seat.
Nervously turning to Minori, who quickly replied, "What do you want?"
Oh well, here goes nothing.
"Soooo do you want to hang out in the café after class?"
Her facial expression, which was serious at the time, remained unchanged.
"I don't see the point of it."
Did I just get shot down by a girl I wasn't even asking out?
I exhaled and replied, "How much longer do you plan to stay in your own world."
Minori side eyed me, "If I am in my own world, then there's nothing that can distract me,"
That's a fair point. I'll give her that.
"So what do you want so badly that you'd rather go your entire school life without any distractions?"
"My only goal is to graduate with an internship and to achieve something personal"
Ah, an internship, I see. If you successfully complete it, you become a permanent employee, which is an easy path to a high-paying job.
I'll intentionally ignore the second part of the response because I don't want to dig too deep into someone's personal life.
"I replied, "Well, in order to achieve that, you need some level of cooperation with everybody else because the clashes are considered a team effort."
She clicked her tongue, then sighed. She knew it was the truth, then she played what is considered an Uno reverse card to me.
"So what do you want when you graduate from here?"
I never really thought about it. It's only just recently that I found out about how this school operates, so I have set a goal besides the one where I take it easy here.
"If I am being honest here, I actually want nothing but an easy-going school life."
"You enrolled in this institute for an easy-going school experience," she replied, with a puzzled look on her face.
"Yeah, it's a long story."
As if I am going to explain to her that I only settled on this prestigious institute due to a game of chance. She will probably look at me as if I am crazy.
Minori gave me a suspicious stare and shook her head.
"You should be fixing your social skills if you want to win in these upcoming clash classes."
I mean, that's the least she should be attempting to do if progress towards her goal is going to be made.
She paused, then exhaled.
"My social skills don't need any fixing."
"Oh right, I apologize for mistaking you for a turtle in your shell instead of the grand social butterfly you are."
She exhaled deeply, "That's strike two on the sarcasm, so you're starting to push it."
"Ah, my bad. It is a natural flex at this point, but I still think that you should still attend the class café thing. After all, it is meant to create unity among our classmates."
She shot an annoyed glance at me and kept quiet.
