While Jason was more of an indoor person, he spent a lot of time in his youth in the countryside. His grandfather liked to hunt, and he was reckless enough to take Jason with him on some of his hunts. While he was the one who used the rifle, Jason was the one who skinned the hunt that they got once he learned the basics. It was a tiresome job that put a lot of strain on the back… that was his excuse for making Jason work like a mule when he went to visit him. He died when Jason was in his first year of college… And because he learned that, Jason was hired for that job.
After watching once, Hugo made Jason show him if he had learned anything. Hugo was an angry middle-aged man, and despite his overbearing attitude, he nodded in satisfaction. At the same time, he watched Jason skinning the monster. He knew where to cut and where to stab without damaging the organs, they were valuable, but only the meat was what that company kept.
"You know what you are doing, but you lack stamina," Hugo said.
"Well, it has been a while since I did this, and Besides…" Jason said. "Forget it. You won't believe it."
"We have a lot of work here, so talking can help us pass the time," Hugo said. "Speaking of which, you will receive ten bucks for each monster you skin. You are fine with that?"
"I guess so…" Jason replied. "Well, as for what happened to me…"
There wasn't much to say. Actually, Jason was almost buried to death, and then he was found unconscious a few weeks after the incident, and since then, he has stayed six months unconscious. Only that morning, he woke up and was looking for a job since he had lost everything and needed to take the first step.
"Hahaha, how unlucky you can be?" Hugo asked after laughing loudly. "You woke up, and the first thing you received was a hospital bill."
"I know, right?" Jason asked after laughing as well. "Well, it seems that this place is always getting more work, so I suppose I will eventually pay my debts."
Jason could skin a monster in half an hour, so he could get twenty bucks per hour… It was the same amount he received in the convenience store. It would be funny if it weren't tragic.
"You are right. There is always work here," Hugo said. "You may be terribly unlucky and clueless, but I like your attitude."
Hugo seemed like a good man despite his usual demeanor. Still, it was probably because he had too much work on his hands, and the people that worked with him could only do so much while helping him. When night came, most of the people left for their homes while they could barely stand. Jason was tired as well, but he kept working alongside Hugo.
"Their skin sure is hard… What is this called?" Jason asked.
"It is just an ordinary giant boar, but it would be more accurate to call it: normal rank type three giant boar," Hugo said. "You probably don't know this, but monsters are categorized like that now. You can find normal ranked monsters anywhere, and their levels go from one to five. These big guys are in the middle of the weakest tier because ordinary weapons like shotgun rounds and grenades work on them. Still, we stopped using that kind of thing against them since it damages the materials."
"I see…" Jason said while furrowing his eyebrows.
"Speaking of which, a small army of rank two Uncommon monsters was what destroyed most of Los Angeles after the event," Hugo said. "Even projectiles able to pierce the armor of tanks had a hard time destroying them."
"What kind of monster was that?" Jason asked.
"Believe it or not, they were T-rexes," Hugo said.

Jason's jaw dropped. He could understand those giant boars appearing, but T-rexes were a bit too much… He was starting to learn more about the situation, and even though the job was pretty tiresome, he could get used to it while he learned more. Jason felt even more compelled to work there for a while when Hugo said that he could use the office of the warehouse while he was preparing to go home. He even bought a large pizza for them to eat together, so Jason couldn't have asked for more.
"Sleep as much as possible because work starts as soon as the sun rises," Hugo said. "Here is your pay for the day. See you tomorrow."
In the end, Jason managed to get two hundred dollars, which seemed like a small amount considering that they worked using monsters' bodies. Still, there must be some reasons for that. In any case, Jason finally could do some tests using the system.

Although Jason didn't have enough to get some quirks, the system recognized the money that he had. It was really weird… But he could try to understand how the system worked when he had more minor things to worry about.
"Let's see… it seems the best way to earn money now is by fighting, and if I do that, then I will become famous enough to find my family or for them to find me first," Jason thought. "I should use the system with that in mind, but I also need to use it to make my work here faster, so I need to balance things out."
