Episode 210- Using blood to crack stones

"Nothing worked, Eldest Miss."

Eugene sighed and stepped back. She kept on stepping back until she was side by side with Pelle. `Reaching it isn't a problem. But placing a crack on it is a problem.' Eugene could throw her sword at the boulder, however, she wasn't confident that she could place a crack on it without breaking it. Her face was scrunched up as she stared at the boulder for a full five minutes.

"Staring at the thing isn't going to make a difference." She whispered out loud, loud enough for Pelle to hear. Eugene sighed before stepping forward and reaching for a dagger inside her jacket.

She had many simulations with the dagger and the angle at which she would throw the dagger to the boulder. However, again, she wasn't confident that it wasn't going to break. One big move and it will alarm the people in the base, or it will destroy Euria's plan of wanting to injure Exitium's leader.

Eugene exhaled. There was one other simulation she did in her head. Euria said that she just had to wish for it to happen, so she will trust Euria's words. Eugene poked her index finger with the dagger before putting the dagger back into its sheath and back into her jacket.

"Eldest Miss?" Pelle furrowed her eyebrows and stared at Eugene's bleeding finger. She couldn't comprehend why the eldest miss was suddenly hurting herself especially in this situation and felt flabbergasted.

"Crack it," Eugene whispered. At first, she wasn't sure if 'just wishing it would work, but not even a millisecond later, the tiniest amount of blood on her index finger flowed up to the ceiling like magic. It rose up very slowly to the green boulder and once her speck of blood touched the boulder, a crack could be heard.

Crack-

Eugene and Pelle turned towards each other instantly before turning back to the ceiling! Though the crack sounded subtle, it was definitely a crack!

"Alright. That's done." Eugene exhaled in relief as she stared at the boulder carefully. "The inside must've cracked." There was no visible crack that could be seen from the outside, which was why she thought that it must've been the inside that cracked.

"Eldest Miss, please use this." Pelle handed Eugene a handkerchief and just before Eugene wiped it, a sudden thought occurred in her mind.

"Do you think this is the only green stone?" Eugene turned to Pelle and asked.

Pelle thought for a moment before replying, "Master specified that there are only 2 green stones in this world. One had to be placed at the entrance to the portal and the other at your end destination." She paused for a moment before continuing, "Master did mention that the green stone is very big… size." She slowed down. Eugene and Pelle slowly glanced up towards the green stone. The size was as big as a boulder, but… it wasn't 'very' big in size.

Eugene furrowed her eyebrows and glanced around the room, "Do you think they cut the green stones up?" She glanced at the small green stones that were placed to make a rectangle shape.

Pelle thought for a minute and nodded, "It is possible."

Eugene nodded and brought her index finger up, "Find the greenstone and crack it." She wished loudly and not too long after her wish, her blood began to flow out of her index finger. This time, the amount wasn't small but rather the size of Eugene's ears.

The blood flowed to the stone slabs on the floor and paused. The blood then separated into many drops before spraying out all around the room to the floor. The blood seemed to absorb into the floor and long after that a huge crack could be heard. Though Eugene and Pelle didn't know where the greenstone was exactly under the stone slabbed floor, they knew without a doubt that all the greenstone was now cracked.

"They are smart." Eugene's eyes narrowed dangerously. If she did not use her blood, or if Pelle had been alone, they wouldn't have known that the true teleportation stone was camouflaged and hidden underneath the floor.

"It is a relief that Miss is here." Pelle bowed to Eugene and thanked her.

"Is there anything else we have to do?" Eugene asked Pelle who shook her head.

Again Eugene was about to wipe the blood from her index finger when she thought of something smart, "We almost failed because of them. Why don't we give them a surprise attack too?" Her lips curved up creepily as she glanced at Pelle with a brow raised. Her face was one of sarcasm but it was cold. Cold enough to make the room unbreathable and filled with oppression.

Pelle gulped nervously and felt a chill down her spine when she saw the amount of blood that was flowing out from Eugene's finger.

Eugene and Pelle were sitting at the dark corner of the room to rest when suddenly Pelle spoke out, "Eldest Miss. Did Miss fully explore the base?" She asked.

Eugene opened her closed eyes that were resting and answered,  "No." She only went through some of the rooms. She didn't bother fully exploring the base because she wanted to get to the teleporting room as fast as possible.

"Is that so…" There was hesitation in Pelle's voice which made Eugene frown. She disliked suspenseful words like this the most.

"What's wrong?" Though she was slightly annoyed, she asked.

Pelle hesitated at first and before replying, "I heard the bandits saying something about robbing the prisoners downstairs." She paused for a few seconds before continuing, "I believe there are common citizens downstairs."

Eugene's eyes twitched, "... And what of it?" What exactly can they do in this situation? She turned away and stared at the middle of the room.

Both Eugene and Pelle remain silent for 10 minutes before Eugene broke the awful silence. "You are right. I should map out this base in case of an emergency."

"...." Pelle was sure she did not say that but she kept silent.

In all honesty, she did not care about the common citizens downstairs and was only concerned over Euria's plans which were why she hesitated in telling Eugene. She knew she had to tell Eugene because whatever was happening in the basement might affect their plans, but she was also nervous that Eugene might go help the common citizens downstairs. Because despite the coldness that Eugene exudes, she knew that Eugene wasn't a cold person because Euria denied that. The person Euria described Eugene to be was a tsundere who was kind at heart. Not to mention, Eugene was an aristocrat. Not an arrogant aristocrat but an aristocrat born to the Veria family. And being born to the Veria family means their utmost important duty was to ensure the safety of the common citizen.

Eugene walked to the entrance of the door and turned back to Pelle, "Don't worry. I won't do anything that will affect the plan." Her face was serious as they stared straight into Pelle's eyes. Without waiting for Pelle, Eugene put on her hood before quickly leaving the room.

What Eugene said was true. She wouldn't do anything to affect the plan even if it meant the common citizen's death. Eugene walked slowly around the corridor, hiding when people passed by her and walking when the area was cleared. Already, she could tell that the enemies were moving around sluggishly as though they weren't concentrating on the tasks they had to do.

She walked past the rooms, circling across the base many times however she did not see an entrance to the basement when suddenly a wall cracked open. Eugene quickly hid herself in the darkness and watched as a person walked out of the wall and closed the wall.

'So that was where it was this whole time.' She stared at the wall and the bandit with a knowing look. She waited for the bandit to leave before touching the place the bandit had his hands on and sliding open the wall.

What came into Eugene's eyes was brightly lit stairs heading downstairs. Like always, Eugene put her two herbs into each oil lamp she passed by and walked slowly. She made sure to not leave any noise as she reached the end of the stairs which led to two pathways. Eugene chose left instantaneously and began to walk.

There was something instinctual in her that made her believe that the path she was going to wasn't where the common citizens were but a place that was considered important. Possibly a place that was more dangerous than where the common citizens were.  And just like she thought, she noticed something wrong with the flooring. Just when she was about to take another step, she noticed a raise from the floor. It wasn't much, but it was subtle enough for Eugene to raise her guards up.. Eugene observed the flooring carefully and analyzed the hallway carefully.
