Episode 229- The Veria prophecy.

It was dark when Eugene opened her eyes again. The bed she was lying down on was very comfortable, especially compared to the prison cell she slept in.

She could tell it was past her 20-minute interval sleep because the sun was no longer out and her heavy body had lightened slightly. Eugene prepared to sit up from bed when a voice stopped her,

"Don't move." His voice was threatening, making Eugene not dare move.

That was how bad her senses and health were, that she didn't even notice there was someone else in the room with her.

"Just focus on healing." There was still a hint of threat in this voice even though he spoke in a softer tone.

The atmosphere in the room was awkward. And it was awkward because Louis was caring for Eugene. Something that he'd never done before and something rendered the both of them blank.

'How long has it been since I last saw Louis again?' Eugene thought deeply. It has been around 2 months since she last saw his face, though because of the incident, she felt as if she hadn't seen Louis in a good 10 years.

While they were in Herrow, Ron told her a story about Louis. He said that there weren't many instances where Louis would portray his emotions but there was one time when he did and it stuck with him in his heart for almost 7 years.

When asked when that happened, Ron told her that it happened when Eugene had been taken away by the King of Zene. Back then, Louis' face was incredibly ugly and scary, making Ron almost pee his pants.

Eugene naturally didn't believe him because she knew who Louis was. Louis was someone who wouldn't care about her. Someone who wouldn't get mad over her. But seeing Louis in her room now, she believed Ron 99.9 percent. When Louis had saved her, even though she was unable to see, she could feel the intense anger in Louis's voice. And even right now, he was taking care of her, watching her every movement in her room.

Eugene felt odd. Of course, she felt weird. Louis and herself were people who loved poking at each other. People who are always bickering with each other, and the sudden care truly made her feel out of place and awkward.

"Don't do that again." His voice was low, but Eugene heard him clearly. Her eyes trembled as they stared at Louis's silhouette.

Eugene opened her mouth to answer him when Louis spoke again, "Don't decide things on your own. That was your mistake."

"..." Eugene swallowed back her words.

"But… you did a good job." There was resignation in Louis's voice that made her swallow the lump in her throat. For some reason, her nose was burning, and her eyes stung a little. She was incredibly thankful that it wasn't day and night because she didn't not want Louis to see the emotions she felt from his words.

There was a threat in Louis's voice he stated out in anger, "Though I still don't know why people kept saying your eyes were red when it's clearly grey. But no matter, everyone has been thrown into prison except for the Commander of the Military as I have no powers over him."

"... What?" Eugene's eyes didn't feel hot any longer and instead, she stared at his silhouette blankly. What did he just... say?

"... I threatened to execute all of them and they all willingly went into prison. All except for the Commander of the Military…"

"...What?" Again, she felt nothing but speechless. What…did he do? What did he… dare do?

"They uttered nonsense about your eyes being red. What nonsense is that." There was annoyance in his voice as the room turned a degree colder.

"..." Eugene pursed her lips. She didn't dare tell him that her eye colors had changed to red. She didn't dare tell him that because she was afraid that Louis would direct his anger and annoyance at her. Not to mention, if he did not know that she could change her eye colors, it meant that he knew nothing about her past life let alone read Euria's letters.

"Did you not go home?" She couldn't help but ask. If he did, he would've known everything. About why the enemies took Euria, and about why she left.

Louis changed his sitting position and answered, "I did." His answer was confident, rendering Eugene speechless.

"... And you didn't read the letters?"

Louis frowned. Their father had indeed stuffed letters in his hands before he left. In fact, their father was just about to go to Raden to oversee the situation himself, but he stepped in and did it himself. The capital city was restless due to the rumors going around and the Duke of Veria should be staying behind to reassure the citizens. It wasn't just Levis who was unable to travel, but all of the aristocrats. All of the aristocrats were afraid that the situation might escalate to the common citizens raising havoc or protesting, which was why every aristocrat was on high alert 24 hours a day. Because the Duchess of Veria had been attacked, everyone in the capital city was fearful for their own safety and was on high alert.

"I handed it back to Mother because I presumed it was not important." Well, at least that's what he thought. Also, would the letters be more important than searching for Eugene? No. Which was why he didn't bother with it.

"... Right." What he said indeed made sense.

Louis heard the hesitation in Eugene's voice and raised a brow, "Why? Does the letter have any connection to what happened?"

"... Yes." You are very spot on, sir.

The room was silent again and no one spoke. Only the sound of Eugene inhaling and exhaling as well as her heart thumping loud could be heard. It remained like this for a while until Louis spoke out again,

"Does the letter have connections to why our grandmother died?"

Eugene was unable to reply for a long time as her mouth opened and closed. She wasn't choking on his words but that she didn't know what to say. She shut her eyes closed for a moment and when she reopened them, she said quietly,

"I don't know." She sighed at the end of her words. To this day, she never found out why Euria had killed their grandmother. But she also knew that Euria would never do that without a good reason. This means the grandmother must've been a danger to them.

"Why? You think the prophecy is real?" Eugene didn't like the awkward silence and asked Louis. According to the late famous fortune teller, if Levis and Moniqua got married, their parents would die. They wouldn't die a normal death but would die at the hands of their grandchild.

Louis didn't say anything. This time the silence in the room wasn't one of awkwardness but one of heaviness. As if there was something restricting the oxygen levels in this room.

"It's true." He replied after a long time. His voice was low and he said it very quietly. Quiet enough that if Eugene hadn't concentrated, she wouldn't have heard him.

"What do you mean, true?" Her eyebrows furrowed and she asked. Sure, their grandmother from their mother's side died at the hands of Euria. But there was still Moniqua's father as well as Levis's parents… no? And according to Levis, they were out of the country, traveling around the world.

"It's true. Partially." There was no hint of emotion in Louis' voice, which made Eugene slightly uneasy. And when Louis spoke again, Eugene felt her heart stop.

"I killed our grandmother."

".... What?" She felt as if she heard something outrageous just now. What did she just hear?

"I killed father's mother." He repeated, clear enough for Eugene to hear. Clear enough for her to freeze in shock.

After a few seconds, Eugene shot up to a sitting position, and she shouted, "WHAT?!!!" What was he saying?! And when on earth did this happen? When, how, and why?

Louis furrowed his eyebrows, raised his index finger, and accurately aimed at Eugene's forehead. With his finger, he pushed her back down to the bed.

"Don't move." He threatened with a low voice.

"..." Eugene pursed her lips as she laid back. Laying back wasn't the problem right now! She wanted to protest when she felt Louis tugging her covers and covering her up again.

The moment Louis sat back down on his chair, he sighed, "I killed our father's mother when I was four. Our paternal grandmother."

Eugene was shocked for a long time and when she snapped out of it, she asked hesitantly, "... But why?" Louis did not seem like the person who would do something like that.. Not to mention, he was three when he killed their paternal grandmother? For some reason, she could not bring herself to believe that such a thing happened.
