Chapter 104: Sitting on Heaven's door step.

They drove in silence for about five minutes before Chike spoke to him again.

"How is Mckenna taking the 'i have another daughter with my ex lover's thing?"

Jason exhaled. He was suddenly exhausted. The last time he brought a child home, it tore them apart and he didn't even get someone pregnant then.

"I have no freaking idea, Chike"

Jason was lost in his head as he thought of ways to speak to his wife. Things weren't great at home before Tamara showed up.

They were still dealing with a lot and then this? Jason turned and looked at his daughter sitting at the back seat. She was fast asleep. This was a freaking mountain to ask his wife to climb again.

He turned around to his best friend and watched him for a second. If he ever needed words of wisdom then now was the right moment.

"What should I do, Chike? How do i fix this for everyone including Mckenna. She's been through hell and back for me. I don't want to put her through more. Why do I keep coming up with new ways to hurt her?" Jason whispered so he didn't wake up his daughter in the backseat.

"Hey! You didn't sprung this on her this time. You had no knowledge of Elixir Jason either but she will be angry because she's not made of stone. I just need to ask you a question" Chike asked him.

"Ask away!"

"Don't think! Tamara or Mckenna, choose one?"

Jason blinked and he answered. "Uhhmm…Mckenna!"

He smiled until he saw the look on Chike's face. He was frowning.

"What is it? Of course I am going to choose my wife. I love her" Jason defended himself.

"That's not it…just forget about it, Jason. We are almost at your house" Chike tried to brush it aside.

"No, if you have something to tell me then say it" Jason insisted.

The more his friend acted weird the more he wanted to know. Was his answer wrong? What was Chike expecting him to do?

Wait! Was he expecting him to choose Tammy?

"Chike, say what's on your mind. You are thinking it, you might as well say it out loud" Jason wasn't finding it funny anymore.

The curiosity was eating him up and if Chike was rebelling against saying it then it must be bad.

Chike stopped the car in front of the gate and he rubbed the back of his head with his hand.

"You hesitated, man! When I asked you to choose, you had to literally think about it. You hesitated and that is not a good sign. A word of advice, don't lose Mckenna because you can't figure out your shit, Jason....When she asks, do not hesitate. It might be the only thing to save your marriage" Chike was serious and sincere.

"I am not lying. I love Mckenna. I am always going to choose her…forever" Jason needed to be sure that Chike believed him. He needed him to because it was true for him.

"Good. Tell her that and Jason…you don't have to convince me. I believe you. Now, take the mini you lying behind us and go inside. I will return your car tomorrow"

Jason opened the door and he tried to pick up EJ but she was already awake.

"Come on, Kid. We are home"

EJ stepped down and they both walked through the gate into the house. Jason opened the door with his keys and he was surprised to see that the light was still on. It was almost 10 pm. Even though the light was turned on, the living room was deserted or so he thought until he heard Kara's voice.

"Who is she?"

Jason was startled by his daughter's voice. For a split second, he felt like he was cheating on Kara with EJ. It was absolutely ridiculous but the bossy child had her arms calmly folded under her armpit and she had a questioning look on her face.

It took Jason a couple of minutes to realize that he was the parent not Kara.

"Nice try, Bean. Now, I will answer your question in due time but I need to see your mother first" Jason asked the little girl that had her eyes glued on EJ.

"Umma is in the kitchen" After giving it a thought she quickly added "Don't tell her I am not sleeping!"

Jason shook his head. If he didn't have more pressing issues to attend to, they would have a talk about lying.

He left both girls in the sitting room and walked towards the kitchen. Jason realized that the kitchen was bolted from the inside after he tried to open it several times.

Jason tried knocking.

"Aren't you supposed to be asleep, young lady?" Mckenna asked from the floor she sat.

"Honey, it's me. Can you open the door, please?" Jason asked her.

"Jason, can we talk later? I am seriously loving what I am doing right now" Mckenna answered in a low, tired voice.

"Then tell me what you are doing, Oma" Jason asked. He didn't try to open the door again. He simply stood there and waited for her to talk.

"If you must know, I am drinking wine straight from the bottle and watching comedy skits on YouTube and I am definitely not using my brain right now" Mckenna replied with a sad smile.

"Do you mind if I join you? You don't have to open the door. I can just sit out here, okay?" Jason tried to lower himself on the floor when he heard as the door was unbolted. He opened the door and entered inside.

Mckenna was exactly as she described to him before.

"Please, bolt the door" She told him and he obliged.

Jason sat on the floor with her and took one of the ear pieces from her left ear and placed it on his.

They sat in silence for a while just laughing at the comedy they were listening to. Jason knew that it was not a great strategy but he was reluctant to burst her bubble. He wished he could keep their problems locked out forever but sooner than later they would have to face it. She would have to face it.

Tamara Jones was back and she brought along someone that was here to stay.

"Are you alright?" Mckenna asked him.

Jason was taken aback.

Wait! Was she seriously worried about him now?

"Who cares how I am feeling?! I don't matter, sweetheart…I am just worried about you! I did it again. I blew up our life…again" Jason rubbed his forehead.

"You are blameless in this too. You had no idea you have a daughter. I would be a fool if I don't recognize that" Mckenna took a gulp from the bottle she was holding and she did her best not to look at her husband.

"I know you are angry. I know you want to scream, yell and scratch my face off and if it would make you feel better, I will gladly surrender my face to you"

Mckenna looked at him for the first time in the eyes. She touched his face., Carresed it with her thumb.

"It's such beautiful face…it would be a shame" she murmured.

Jason grabbed her arm just a little bit roughly to jolt her into reality.

"Stop been so reasonable! You are angry, show it"

Mckenna grabbed the bottle and she took a gulp and she emptied the content in her mouth on his face. It was an alternative since she was forbidden to slap him.

He wanted her to be pissed, well, now she was angry. Now, she was vibrating with her true feelings.

"I deserved that" Jason said and wiped his face with the back of his hand.

"You are right, I am angry. I am so angry that I could pick you right up and throw you into that stove and turn it on. Are you the most fertile man on earth? You slept with her just once and you got her pregnant, are you freaking kidding me?! By that calculation and given the fact that you were a philadering jerk who slept with different women every three months for almost five years. Answer this question? How many mini Jason's are wandering around out there waiting to be welcomed here with open arms? Or are you assuming I would stick around to play cheaper by the dozen with your numerous kids and your effing lovers. How many do you think is my limit because so far I am saddled with two of yours and none of mine, you.... jerk!"

Jason was surprised. He asked for it and now, that she was exploding all over him, it made him want to hide behind the door.

"Why aren't you talking, Jason? Why aren't you answering me? How many children will show up before I grab my bags and walk out for good?"

Jason at first thought it was a rhetorical question but then Mckenna widened her eyes at him like she was saying 'answer my question, please'

"I swear to you, Oma that…"

Mckenna was impatient. Moreover, it wasn't the question he wanted him to answer.

"Do you love her?" She asked Jason.

"EJ? Mckenna, she is my daughter…I kind of have to love…"

Mckenna interrupted him again.

"No! Are you still in love with Tamara Jones?!"

Jason's mind became blank.

What was the question again?
