Chapter 27: Goodbye my lover 2

Luca was packing some clothes into a black backpack when Jason barged inside his room. Luca could only assume that Jason was let inside the Mansion since he was a friend of the family. The right protocol was for security to call ahead for whomever the visitor was there to see and ascertain permission to allow the visitor to enter. Luca wished security had given him that courtesy; at least it would give him time to come up with something to say to the man standing in his room with laser shooting eyes.

"Jason" Luca stood up defensively. He felt threatened by the man standing quietly in the middle of the room. Luca noticed that Jason looked horrible like he had sleepless nights for several days.

"Tell me a good reason why I shouldn't pick you up and throw you out of the window" Jason's gruff voice wasn't just filled with deadly calm, it was icy too and it would send chills down anybody's spine. Luca had cost him the love of his life and now, he was the reason he was away from his daughter.

"I will do you one better. I will give you two reasons. One, it's highly unlike you can lift me up and throw me out the window but if you insist you could give it a try but I must warn you I won't go easy. Two, you don't want to waste valuable time hurting me, when you could be by McKenna's side. She just came out of surgery"

"You said she was going to have the surgery not that it was already done"

"I lied"

"Did she ask for me?"

"No but I thought you should be here"

Jason must admit that the boy wasn't a coward. Jason looked him over like a predator looking over a prey. He towed over the boy and he could do considerable harm to his person but Luca was right, he would rather stay by McKenna's side.

"You understand why I don't like you, Luca right?"

"I do. I hate that I hurt you but I don't regret looking out for McKenna"

"That's fair enough. Now, tell me exactly what is wrong with McKenna and why she needed a life threatening surgery."

"Oh, McKenna is perfectly fine"

Jason's eyes dimmed considerable as his anger increased, Luca Spencer should know better than to joke about her being in danger to get him to Toronto. He had left his daughter in a courtroom to fly to Canada.

Jason voice dropped to a whisper "Care to say that to me, again"

"Can I explain on the way to the hospital?" Luca saw the glare on his face and add "It is time efficient and I didn't lie about the surgery"

Jason sat begrudgingly in Luca's car as he explained the situation. He started by telling him about Aera's failing health and how McKenna got tested to save her life.

"Who the hell is Aera and why is McKenna risking her life for her?" Jason had a tone.

"Aera is my girlfriend and watch your tone when talking about her. She is the best person I know and McKenna's good friend"

"I apologize for the tone but I still need a reason. Why is McKenna in the hospital?"

"Aera was dying. She needed a kidney transplant and McKenna was a match"

Luca expected Jason to be angry or at least throw a deadly glare his way but seemed not to be the case. Instead he simply closed his eyes.

"I thought you were going to say that she made a terrible mistake."

"Luca, if you know McKenna well, then you know it is something she would do. I am obviously not okay with her risking her life but I guess I am just glad that she is okay. She is okay, right?"

Luca nodded in affirmation.

When they got to the hospital, Luca first showed Jason to McKenna's hospital room before he excused himself to see Aera.

Jason stood at the hallway and watched McKenna. Her eyes were closed and she was in a hospital gown. She looked exactly the same like the last time he saw her. Except then she didn't look so vulnerable lying on the hospital bed. Jason moved closer and sat on the white chair beside her bed.

McKenna stirred and opened her eyes. At first she couldn't believe that Jason was sitting in front of her. She assumed she was having one of her hallucination of Jason.

"You are here. Do you think I should have disclosed to my shrink that I normally see a ghost of the sexiest man alive? Nay, she wouldn't have signed off on the surgery and Aera needed it. So, do me a favor and disappear when you see someone coming and I hope you didn't appear during the surgery because that would have been gross" McKenna said smiled. She was high on painkillers.

"Hi" Jason whispered and came closer to her. He kissed her forehead and rubbed her cheek with the back of his palm. "You think I am sexiest man alive. I am flattered"

McKenna smiled like he made a joke. She was feeling a little bit drowsy.

"What have you been doing lately apart from saving the world?" McKenna asked him.

"I adopted a kid. You will like her, she is incredible. Her name is Kara"

Jason saw her doze off to sleep as he was about to talk about his daughter in details. He loved calling Kara, his daughter. But instead he simply kissed her on the lips.

"I have no idea how I can feel so strongly about you after you ripped my heart out. I hope I can forgive you one day. I am glad you are okay, McKenna and in the future, stop giving out your body parts to friends. Remember you need them..."

Jason was about to say more but his phone rang and it was John, one of the orphans. Jason wanted to ignore it but what if it was an emergency?

"Hello, John"

"Uncle Jason, its John. Nolani fell inside the new toilet pit!"

As soon as Jason dropped the call, he knew at once. Maybe things will work out with Mckenna in the future... maybe not but he knew it was time to say goodbye. 

He knew his priority had changed.

"Good bye, Mckenna"
