Chapter 39: The uncle I almost killed

"Kara!" Jason called out again as soon as he heard what Chike yelled to him.

"Daddy!" Kara dropped the stun gun and came out from the bar. She followed the sound of the voice until she saw him.

He was standing at the middle of the Jet calling out her name severally. A broad smile first appeared on her face as relief flooded her little body.

For a moment, she thought Kane had found her when she felt something hit her leg while she had mistakenly dozed off inside her hiding spot.

She simply did what her mama taught her. She placed the plastic stun gun at the only place within her reach that could hurt her attacker. She did as she was told and set the electrical current to the highest.

Mama told her it was the surest way to incapacitate her attacker. Kara had no idea she was electrocuting her favorite uncle.

Now, she was standing face to face with her father and suddenly the bravado was gone. And in place was the terror of that morning, the horrifying feeling she felt in her stomach when her mother switched on the car ignition and Kane was standing there with a knife.

It was soul breaking and she wasn't given instructions on how to handle the shock of being shoved on a Jet to a country she had never being before and at the same, leaving her mother with a killer.

"Kara!" Her father called out her name again. He was on his knees with his arms stretched out for her to run in.

His arm was the only safe place she could be right that moment. She ignored the tears forming in her eyes and she took off towards him, throwing her full body weight on to him to catch and he did. 

His arms enveloped her as she let the terror out of her body. Just started sobbing like she was reliving every single moment of what happened earlier.

"Sweetheart, it's okay. You are safe. You are safe with me" Jason reassured her over and over again.

"I was so scared, Daddy. He was just standing there with a knife while Mama yelled to shut my eyes" She explained in between sobs. She didn't even think that maybe her sobs might be making it difficult for Jason to understand what she was saying.

But her father did anyway. He understood every single word his little girl said. He felt the anger like never before. If Kane was there he would take Chike's gun, point it at him and pull the trigger without batting an eyelid.

"You are safe, Bean. I will protect you no matter what. You won't ever see him ever again"

Kara pulled out for a moment to stare at him. "Do you promise?" She queried

Jason knew he couldn't make that promise. He couldn't control where a mad man like Kane would choose to go.

He placed his hands on both her arms and rubbed them in a parallel soothing motion.

"I promise I won't let him hurt you. I am going to protect you from now till forever because I love you Kara"

The first smile appeared on her face as she wiped her face with her palm. Jason took the napkin on the table near them and handed it over to her.

"I love you too, daddy. And...I think I hurt Uncle Chike" She said slowly as a frown replaced the smile.

"No, honey...you didn't do anything to him"

Kara's frown deepened as she explained it to him.

"I used my stun gun on him like mama thought me. I didn't mean to. I thought he was a bad man" 

Jason became worried when he looked around and he didn't see Chike.

"Where is he, bean?" 

Kara pointed towards the bar. Jason stood up and walked over to the bar and found Chike on the floor.

"Chike!" Jason called out and went around the bar to help him sit down.

"Did I hurt him too badly, Daddy?" Kara asked her father.

Jason lowered himself and pulled him out from behind the bar. Chike's eyes opened as he made sense of his environment and the cold truth hit him. He was incapacitated by a six year old with a toy. He would never scrub the shame and the future laughter out.

He wondered how Jason would tell the story to the rest of the group. Will he make him the victim and tell it with compassion or will he make him the laughing stock that was taken down by a six year old with a freaking toy!

"Is he going to be fine, Daddy?" Kara asked her father before yelling to the man on the floor "Are you okay, uncle Chike?"

Jason tried not to laugh as Chike finally regained sensation on his legs and pulled himself to a sitting position. 

Jason turned his face a way to suppress a snicker coming on.

"Yep. Yep, your uncle is...i-is super" Jason couldn't hold it back anymore. He let the laughter lose as he felt the tension that he had carried for hours leave his body.

It took Chike awhile to realize that his friend was laughing at his unfortunate incident. Now, there was no question about how this particular story will go in the history book. Jason was going to tell it like he was a little weaning baby man that got defeated by a six year old with a fucking toy!

"Are you laughing at me right now, Yagazie? Talk about insensitive and victim shaming!"

Jason laughed harder "Dude, my six year old wiped your butt on the floor!"

"I am so sorry, uncle Chike" Kara apologize as she tried not to laugh like her father.

"You!" Chike pointed at her "If I ever become your legal guardian, I am shipping you off to military school for cute ruthless girls" then Chike turned to speak to Jason.

"In the super possible case that something happens to your dad like...I don't know, Alien abduction.. It happens Kara, watcb E.T movie"
