Chapter 63: My sibling has a lover

"I will be seventeen years old next week. I don't see what the big deal is, Amazing" Max said in between his clenched jaw.

"Sit your ass down!" McKenna told him. She hated that they were causing a scene.

"Fine. But just so I am clear I don't want to talk about sex with my sisters" Max sat down and folded his hands into his armpit.

"Well, it grosses me out too but walking in on you and a naked girl wasn't what I asked Santa for Christmas!"

"Well that could have been avoided if you would just learn how to knock like a normal human being, Amazing" Max had a tone that Amazing didn't like and she tried to grab his throat. But McKenna stopped her.

"Both of you shut up!" McKenna looked around to see if people were starring and they were.

"Come on, we are leaving. We need a private place to talk" McKenna stood up and went to the cashier to pay.

Soon, they were walking out of restaurant together.

"Max, will ride with me since I can't trust that you won't try to strangle him again. You can follow us to my house after I pick up my daughter from school" McKenna told Amazing.

"How about you take Max and start the talk with him while I go pick up my niece?" Amazing had a fake smile as she walked really fast to the car before McKenna could say anything.

"Coward!" McKenna muttered under her breath. Great! Now she has to talk to the teenager alone. "Get in the car, boy"

Max opened the car and entered.

McKenna thought of what to say to him as she drove to her house but then she remembered that if Amazing could pass the responsibility of having the talk to her then she can do the same.

She pulled over by the side of the road and took out her phone.

"What are you doing?" Max asked her.

"Calling my husband, you need to have a guy talk to you about what happened" McKenna answered.

"No, I don't..."

"Was it your first time?" McKenna asked him.

Max stared at her in anger. He opened his backpack and took out his headphone and plugged it in.

"Great" McKenna took one of the headsets out and yelled into his ear "Max, if you don't turn off that music. I will smash your headphones"

Max obeyed her but he refused to talk to her.

McKenna dialed Jason's number and opened the car to talk to him in private.

"Hey baby"

"Jason, where are you?"

"I...I am with Chike. Wait! Did I forget to make my side of the bed again?" Jason asked her with a slightly lowered voice.

"Of course you did but that is not why I called. You remember my brother, right?"

"Max Donna, of course I do" Jason answered. He wondered if he forgot Max's birthday or something.

"You need to spend some time with him" McKenna waited patiently for him to reply.

"Did I do something else that you want to punish me?" Jason asked her.

"No. He needs a man in his life and you are it!" McKenna was getting the feeling that Jason was reluctant to step up.

"I don't want to be any boy's role model and Max has a father!"

McKenna exhaled to collect herself "Jason, do you really want Jackson Donna to be Max's role model?"

"Yessss....no of course not but… does it have to be me?" Jason asked her.

"Well, it is too late to find another husband. And also because you love Max too" McKenna had an exasperated face.

"Fine, what do you want me to talk to him about?"

"Sex, girls and how no means no...See you soon, sweetie"

"McKenna no! wait!..." McKenna hung up.

She let out a breath. Max was someone else's problem now. She smiled and entered the car and drove off.

When she got home, Jason was already waiting for her and he was with his friend Chike. McKenna wasn't surprised that Amazing was nowhere to be found with her daughter. They were probably cooped up in a video game mall, trying to waste as much time as possible.

McKenna kissed her husband and threw a smile at Chike and sat down on the sofa with Max stubbornly rooted to the door.

"Max, the sooner you have this talk with Jason the earlier you can go back to your life. Have a seat, please"

If Max could glare at McKenna without consequence, he would have but it was risky to disrespect an older sibling in the presence of their hulk looking husband.

He begrudgingly sat down as far away as he could from the trio.

"Good evening" Max murmured but only because it was required.

"Hey, Max" Jason passed a bowl of peanut to him.

Max looked dead serious at him like he committed a huge offense "I am allergic to peanut!"

"Jason is just a knuckle head, sorry Max but he will talk to you about sex" McKenna turned to Jason to explain "Max here thinks sixteen years old is old enough to have sex. Amazing walked in on him having sex with a girl at Jackson's house"

"This girl, was she pretty?" Chike asked with a raised eyebrow.

"She is really cute" For the first time, Max was comfortable enough to answer a question with a smile.

Jason's laughter was throaty. He could remember himself at that age. He had a crush on a lot of girls but he never got lucky like Max. He eventually lost his virginity to Tamara Jones.

McKenna cleared her throat loudly to get Jason's attention; she moved closer and whispered to his ear.

"We have a daughter and she might be seven years old but one day, she will be sixteen and you will wish that the father of the boy she likes taught him about respecting a girl's wishes and self control. And how no actually means no. It won't be funny anymore because you are a father of a daughter, Jason. Boys need to have this talk so they don't turn bad. Is it still funny?" McKenna watched as the smile slowly wiped off his face.

"Good. I will be in the kitchen"

McKenna stood up and walked away but not before he heard Jason tell Chike to wipe the smile off his face.

"Stand up, Max. We are going for a drive" Jason stood up and grabbed his keys.

Max took his backpack and both guys left, leaving Chike alone in the living room.

Jason drove down the road with Max in the passenger seat. For a while they drove in silence, mind drifting and heart beating just a bit faster. Jason knew every twist and turns of the road he was on. It was like this for a while until Max's tensed body relaxed and his racing heart became steady.

Jason pulled over when he got his favorite spot near the famous lonely road fountain. The fountain got the name because it was built in the most unlikely place, a lonely road people hardly took and somehow, it made it more alluring to Jason.

He watched the boy curiously. Ever since he came into their lives last year, Jason hasn't made any attempt to get to know him and that was his mistake.

"Are you okay?" He asked him.

Max slowly nodded but refused to look at him

"It must have been very embarrassing for your sister to walk in on you" Jason told him.

He waited patiently until he answered.

"Yes. And the screaming didn't help either" Max murmured.

"I guess she could have handled it better. Was it the first time?" Jason asked him.

"Amazing walking in on us?' Max looked confused.

"No, was it your first time having sex?" Jason clarified further.

"No. It was the second time. And I didn't make her do anything she didn't like!" Max was suddenly defensive.

"No one is accusing you of anything Max but this girl, do you like her?" Jason wanted an answer but all he got was a shrug from Max.

Jason waited until he spoke.

"She likes me. I don't see what the fuss is all about" Max answered.

"The fuss is you could ruin her life literally and yours because if you don't understand the concept of consent then you are bound to make a mistake that would haunt her for the rest of your life. When you are with a girl you are responsible for yourself and for her. Am I making any sense at all?" Jason asked him.

"Not really and I didn't do anything wrong" Max told him.

"We have to have this talk Max, it's important to learn about consent from a girl and it must be verbal. You must ask for her consent before you kiss her or have sex. It's not optional.. You must respect her wishes too. If she said yes at the beginning and no towards the end, you have to stop"
