“Report everything about the ‘Azure Nightingale’.”
Conny was told that it was just a simple part-time job.
As a matter of fact, he worked as a staff in the restaurant. The Azure Nightingale, Nora Kranz, didn’t come to perform everyday. Even if she came and changed her song choice, there was not much else to report. On top of receiving his salary as a restaurant staff, he could earn extra by reporting things about Nora as a part-time job. To Conny, it was an opportunity hard to pass up.
After singing a few songs, Nora would go to the back of the restaurant and head home.
But sometimes, there were changes.
After finishing her performance, Nora would sometimes have a meal with the customers.
At first he thought she did it to entertain them but that didn’t seem to be the case. The other person was too beautiful to be a man and there was another guy with the exact same face. The twins were the sons of the marquis, who seemed to be acquaintances of Nora.
Nora looked plain against the good-looking twins. When she’s singing, she looks more attractive but it could simply be the power of her voice. Otherwise, she’s rather plain. Despite the uncomfortable piercing glares from girls around the twins, Nora continued eating with them.
It could just be a young master’s whim or they could be really fans of Nora.
There was something about Nora’s song, it strangely has a calming air to it. Someone once said it was healing and that’s what it exactly sounds like.
A calm, comfortable and healing singing voice. Even the noble patrons were satisfied.
But from then on, he was asked to report on Nora’s activities.
When the middleman who introduced the part-time job handed him a small vial and said, “give her this laxative,” he somewhat got suspicious.
Isn’t that clearly a crime?
Conny had been working on his part-time job of reporting Nora’s actions but he wasn’t going to do that. When he expressed his refusal, the man mentioned the ducal house.
The commoner Conny had no power to oppose the ducal house. Everyone favors themselves the most.
He didn’t know why the ducal house would want to drug Nora. He felt sick in the stomach when he learned about the affairs of the domineering upper class nobility. However, taking a laxative won’t kill a person and he was lured by the extra money he’ll receive.
In the end, Conny decided to take the vial.
If he was going to use the laxative, he had to mix it with food or a drink after all. Nora regularly receives presents as the Azure Nightingale, and sweets and drinks weren’t scarce. She would normally share them with the staff saying she couldn’t finish them all.
Despite feeling a little guilty, he decided to use them.
However, he couldn’t just add the laxative to every food. He had to look for something she would surely eat.
Then he noticed that Nora hadn’t touched the food in her hand.
He was nervous and wondered if she was on a diet like most women or if she suspected that Conny planned something, but neither seemed to be the case.
Nora came to eat with the twins after her performance. It looked like she had deliberately emptied her stomach for that.
As expected, the laxative couldn’t be mixed in with the meals in the restaurant. In the first place, he didn’t know which food Nora liked to eat. He was afraid that all the meals would be prepared beforehand and someone would stop him but since that wasn’t the case, he stroked his chest in relief.
So Conny decided to take the delicious food in front of him and added the laxative. Since Nora didn’t touch it, he’ll throw it away before anyone eats it.
He’s been doing this repeatedly.

He felt guilty but was optimistic that because no one was harmed, it was all right.
At that time, he was getting used to the extra money he was receiving and even wanted a little more.
So when he was handed a bottle with a shiny liquid and was told, “If you use this, your part-time job will be over,” he took it without a second thought.
It was surely stronger than the laxatives before. He suspected as much but he wanted to be free from the job and was also blinded by the extra money.
He knew she would drink water after singing so he poured the contents of the vial into a bottle of juice.
He tried to look sad and implied that it’d be a shame not to drink it and placed the bottle near Nora.
After doing it several times, Nora finally picked up the bottle on the day he mixed it with grape juice.
She probably grabbed it because the bottle was cute.
I guess she’s going to drink it with her meal.
It’s quite pitiful that she’ll experience the effects of the laxative while having a meal with the handsome twins.
But with that, Conny will finally be free.
Everything will be fine once he confirms that Nora has drunk it. In other words, there would be no problem once he sees Nora rushing to the toilet.
Feeling relieved, Conny waited in the break room while chatting with the other staff.
“Nora, hang in there!”
Supported by the pianist Flora, Nora entered the break room.
With her hands on her mouth, Nora rushed into the sink and spit out everything in her mouth.
Did they possibly notice that the red liquid was mixed in with the purple juice?!
While everyone was shocked by what happened, the aroma of grapes wafted through the air.
As Nora was leaning on the side of the sink, Flora placed the bottle of grape juice on the table beside her.
“You just drank this juice and now you suddenly don’t feel well.”
Looking at Nora’s back anxiously, Conny felt the blood drain from his face.
–Wasn’t that vial just a laxative?
But Nora just vomited something red.
Could it be blood?
If the contents of the vial turned out to be poison, Conny would be the culprit.
Even if Conny tries to appeal to the ducal house, he will probably cast aside. He didn’t know why they wanted to harm Nora. But it was clear that Conny had been used as the scapegoat.
A veteran staff rushed to get a glass of water while a female staff offered a towel to wipe her mouth with.
Inside the busy room, Conny gently grabbed the bottle of grape juice and placed his hand on the door to leave.
“Hey, why don’t we talk for a bit?”
The handsome twins were standing at the door.
It was too late to escape, Conny realized.
