Ruan Zhiyin did not expect that Cheng Yuelin would have moments of self-reflection. She felt that he had definitely received some kind of shock. She said in a comforting voice, “Don’t think too much, you honestly have quite a few good points.”
“Really?” Cheng Yuelin raised a brow and looked at her. He waited for her to continue.
Ruan Zhiyin bit her lip and said, “I do mean it. Compared to before, you are a lot better now.”
Cheng Yuelin calmly asked, “For example?”
Ruan Zhiyin chanted silently. He’s feeling down. She could only search through her memories to respond to his persistence— “For example… you always do the dishes without being asked. There are many men who would not do this. You pick me up every day after work and never complained.”
“You have also helped me out a lot recently, and you never asked for anything back.” This was true until at least this point.
After speaking, she looked at the man and smiled. “Even though your personality and image in highschool wasn’t good, you still stayed clean. You were not like some of the other classmates who bullied their classmates and changed girlfriends like clothing.”
This showed that his base personality was not bad.
Otherwise, in the beginning, she would not have chosen to give Cheng Yuelin a call.
But after he heard these words, the man gave a light laugh. “One of those is wrong.”
Ruan Zhiyin looked at him in confusion.
It’s wrong? What did she say that was wrong? She was clearly praising him. Was he not accepting it?
Cheng Yuelin looked at Ruan Zhiyin’s clear eyes. He could tell that she did not understand, so he changed what he was going to say. “Didn’t I.. bully you the entire time?”
Ruan Zhiyin was silent and suddenly understood. She shook her head and replied, “That was not the bullying I’m talking about. I also don’t care about that anymore.”
At most, he would bother her and make her explain things and make her help him with his homework. Or when she went to ask people to help explain something to her, he would mess around and interfere.
At that time, she was definitely upset and annoyed, but after she made him read a repentance letter in front of the entire school, she wasn’t mad anymore.
Cheng Yuelin looked at her gaze and decided to change the topic. “Are you free on the weekend?”
Ruan Zhiyin looked at him and thought for a moment before nodding. “Is there something going on?”
“Yes, come with me to a banquet.”
Cheng Yuelin did not explain more, but Ruan Zhiyin could tell from his attitude and words. She needed to accompany to this public place as his plus one.
This had already been made clear in the marriage contract and Ruan Zhiyin did not even consider rejecting it. She agreed. “Okay, I will make time for it”
The man stood up and pulled a key out of one of the drawers in the coffee table and passed it over.
Ruan Zhiyin hesitated before she reached over and accepted it. “What is this?”
“In the study, the second cabinet on the left. There are some accessories and jewelleries. You can go pick some.” Cheng Yuelin looked at her and, seeing that she was about to refuse before saying, “It is Old Madam Yan’s birthday banquet. Help me see if there is a suitable present for her.”
Since he said it like this, Ruan Zhiyin could not easily refuse. She nodded and took the key with her to the second-floor office.
The study was decorated with the same minimalist style and shelves were filled neatly with books. The large desk in the middle was also very neat.
She had not been in the office many times, but she knew which cabinet on the left that Cheng Yuelin was talking about.

She used the key to open the heavy safe door. Then she saw the dazzling pile of jewellery and heirlooms. Even Ruan Zhiyin was surprised.
Luckily, the security of the area was good, otherwise a thief could come in and easily pinpoint the safe and get rich off just the jewelries.
Thinking for a moment, she selected a necklace that had a large and dazzling blood red ruby.
Ruan Zhiyin had spoken with Old Madam Yan’s daughter-in-law a few times. From what she had heard, Old Madam Yan’s favorite jewelries was blood red gems.
The ruby on this necklace was not particularly heavy. But it was precious due to its unusual translucency.
Just as she was about to close the safe, she suddenly saw a bracelet in the corner.
It was a popular model from the T company from quite a few years ago. When Ruan Zhiyin was in her second year of university, she had also bought one.
But at that time, she was really unlucky. She did not even get a chance to wear it. On her way back to school, she was pickpocketed. Basically, it could be said she had never owned it.
At that time, Ruan Zhiyin was considering telling her grandpa about dissolving the marriage contract and going abroad to study. She was a bit absentminded and did not pay attention to her surroundings.
That bracelet was one of T Company’s best-selling models and it was not that expensive.
The reason Ruan Zhiyin had noticed the bracelet was that out of all the other jewelries and gems, it was a bit out of place. It was much more inferior compared to the rest.
The jewelries and gems were all much more expensive, and it was clear that they had all been won at auction. But this one clearly was not.
Then why would Cheng Yuelin put a bracelet such as this one in the safe?
Just as that thought popped into her head, a voice rang out from behind–
“Did you finish picking?”
Cheng Yuelin stood with one hand braced against the doorframe. His gaze lingered on the bracelet in Ruan Zhiyin’s hand. He raised a brow and asked, “Ruan Yingying, you wouldn’t be thinking about choosing this one, right?”
“You cannot pick that one.”
The man’s voice was lifted slightly, but his tone was still casual.
“Why?” Without thinking, the words came out of her mouth.
When she recovered and was about to explain that she did not plan to choose this bracelet, Cheng Yuelin had already begun to slowly walk towards her.
He was tall, and he looked down at her as he looked into her eyes. His eyes hid his emotions as he said, “What do you think?”
Ruan Zhiyin shifted a little before she thought about his words. “Is there some special meaning?”
Otherwise, he would not have put such an ordinary bracelet with all of these other gems. It would also not have a special spot made for it.
Cheng Yuelin curled his lips and laughed. His dark eyes looked at her as he slowly spoke. “You just said I wasn’t into girls in highschool. That was what you said incorrectly.”
His gaze hesitated and thought back to Grandpa Ruan’s words from today.
He raised a brow, and his low voice was emotionless. “This bracelet was left by my first love. So, I cannot give it to you.”
