Chapter 31 The Desperate Boss
Muzi Technology, Chairman’s office.
Li sat in front of his ebony desk, signing papers.
For two days in a row, Li Yi worked at the office, working on various documents that required his approval.
Li Yi would definitely have to stay home for a few more days when he returned to his hometown. His company business had just taken off and he had to go on a new project. There were many jobs that needed his personal approval and confirmation.
Cai Xiaowei waited for Li Yi to sign and asked curiously, “President Li, where are you from? Is it far?”
“In a small mountain village in Minnan City. It’s a five- or six-hour drive. Why? Are you coming with me?” Li Yi asked as he looked up at Cai Xiaowei after signing the document.
Cai Xiaowei was shocked and quickly waved her hand. “No, no, let Little Chen go with you! I’ll stay in the company to work. If there’s anything, you can tell me.”
Li Yi smiled and didn’t continue to tease her. Cai was simple-minded and sometimes she took a joke seriously.
Because of this, after spending a few months together, Li Yi treated Cai Xiaowei as his sister, even though she was a year older than him.
“I would be worried about letting you drive for a few hours anyway! You should practice more when you’re free!” Li Yi handed the signed document to Cai Xiaowei and teased her with a smile.
“Yes! I’ll train hard.” Cai Xiaowei took the folder and nodded in shame.
“There’s no more work, right? If not, I’m leaving! Won’t be back for a week or two.” Li Yi said as he stood up.
“No, this is the last one. President Li, I wish you a safe trip.” Cai Xiaowei smiled and nodded as she watched him leave.
Li Yi smiled back at her, shouldered a blue computer bag and hurried from the office.
Then, they took the elevator to the basement parking lot.
When the driver, Chen Shibing, saw Li, he quickly jogged to a black Audi A6 and opened the door for him. “President Li, can we go now?”
‘Yes! Let’s go!’ Li Yi nodded and got into the car.
Chen Shibing closed the door for Li Yi, quickly walked to the front, and got into the driver’s seat.
Soon, the low-key Audi A6 eased out of the underground garage and sped Li into traffic.
In the back of the spacious dormitory, Li Yi briefed the driver, Chen Shibing, on the destination. Then, looking at the black pattern on his wrist, his consciousness quickly entered the library.
As Chen Shibing drove, he planned to communicate with his boss and take the opportunity to deepen their relationship. However, through the rearview mirror, he saw that Li Yi’s eyes were closed and his head was hanging down. He had clearly fallen asleep.
Chen Shibing secretly clicked his tongue. The other party fell asleep instantly! Amazing, no wonder the boss could start a big company at such a young age. He was really working too hard.
Chen Shibing slowed down the car and drove more steadily, making it easier for Li Yi to
sleep.
Inside Li Yi’s conscious world…
In the giant library.
Li Yi was sitting cross-legged under the big bookshelf. He was holding a physics book on Cady’s Particle Theory in both hands and studying it intently.
The Borse civilization had already entered the interstellar era. Their technology was countless years more advanced than that of humans, and they had extremely high achievements in microscopic physics.
Basic particles accessible in the physics of current human civilization include quarks, electrons, photons, neutrinos, Higgs bosons, and so on.
In quantum mechanics, after reaching the level of fundamental particles, matter could no longer be broken down. At least, it could not be subdivided at the current level of science and technology. The combination of these fundamental particles formed a complicated physical world.
Human civilization’s understanding of particle physics stopped at the decomposition of matter into atoms, atoms into nuclei and electrons, nuclei further into protons, neutrons, and then quarks and gluons. Next came other indivisible particles, such as photons, neutrinos, …
In the book of microscopic physics, Cardi’s Theory of Microparticles, Li Yi saw a clearer, finer microscopic world, smaller particles of virtual particles, virtual clouds…
At the back of the book, he even read about the time-sequence particles that affected the existence of time.
The large amount of novel and unique particulate knowledge in the book subverted Li Yi’s normal understanding of physics. He was mesmerized and unable to extricate himself.
If these new particle theories were publicized, any one of them would affect the world and the progress of human civilization.
However, with the current experimental technology of human civilization, it was far from being able to explore the scale of these theoretical studies. Therefore, he could only publish each one of them as a theory or a hypothesis.
“President Li, wake up, President Li…” Sweat broke out on Chen Shibing’s forehead as he pushed Li Yi hard.
Li Yi opened his eyes slowly, sobering.
“Thank God, President Li, you’re finally awake. I couldn’t wake you up. I thought something had happened to you and almost called the ambulance.” Chen Shibing wiped the sweat off his forehead and said thankfully.
“Uh! Sorry, I’m a heavy sleeper. Where are we?” Li Yi asked apologetically.
“In the service area. It’s almost one o’clock. Let’s get off and have a meal first,” Chen Shibing reminded him.
Li Yi nodded and got out of the car to eat with Chen Shibing in the dining area.
With dinner, they rested for a moment and continued on their way.
It was after three in the afternoon when the black Audi A6 came off the highway at the intersection.
“President Li, we’re almost home. Wake up!” After getting off the highway, Chen Shibing shouted helplessly at the back of the car.
It took a while for Chen Shibing to wake Li Yi from his ‘sleep’.
“We’re off the highway. We’re almost there! I had such a good sleep.” Li Yi glanced out the window and stretched luxuriously.
“President Li, you must have worked too hard and didn’t pay attention to your rest. You can’t go on like this! Although you are still young, you have to take care of yourself!” Chen Shibing glanced at Li Yi in the rearview mirror and persuaded him kindly.
“Ha. Thanks.” Li Yi smiled and nodded, then gave directions and gestured. “Follow the GPS. Turn right when you enter the village. It’s only a hundred meters away.”
Chen Shibing nodded, slowed the car, and turned into the village.
Soon the black Audi A6 pulled up in front of a farmhouse.
“You can stop here. I’ll get off on my own.” Li Yi motioned and looked at Chen. “Be careful on the way back, Chen. If you’re too tired, stay at the town guesthouse for the night and leave tomorrow.”
“Understood! When should I pick you up?” Chen Shibing asked quickly.
“Don’t bother. I’ll take the train when I return,” he told the other party and opened the door to get out.
“Woof woof…” There was a flurry of barking. A black mutt on a chain in the farmyard barked excitedly at Li Yi and rushed toward him. However, after stopping because it was chained, it could only wag its tail desperately.
as
“Blackie, long time no see!” Li took two steps at a time and held out his hand happily.
The black mutt stuck out his tongue and licked wildly at Li Yi’s palm, its body darting straight at him.
“Okay, okay! That’s enough!” Li Yi smiled and patted Black’s head. He couldn’t stand its enthusiasm.
Hearing the excited barking of the mutt, there was finally movement in the yard. The wooden door creaked open.
