146 A Two-year Period
The man didn’t seem to believe her as he sneered, “New people?”
Qiao Yue didn’t care if the Godfather believed her and quietly waited for his response.
“Xiao Yue, if you ask for help, you’ll have to pay a price.” The man stated his condition casually.
Qiao Yue’s tone was flat as she said, “Godfather, you were the one who gave us the mission to assassinate Trand.”
Qiao Yue had long been accustomed to the Godfather’s flip-flopping.
“Oh really? Then the mission is over now. You guys can clean up the mess.”
The man’s breathing became heavier and Qiao Yue’s eyebrows furrowed deeply.
“What does Godfather want me to do?” Qiao Yue had no choice but to ask.
The man’s smile deepened. “Xiao Yue, don’t you know what I want?”
Qiao Yue took a deep breath, her eyes solemn.
“Godfather,” Qiao Yue continued, but this time in a softer tone.
boxn ov el. c o mThe man noticed the change in Qiao Yue’s tone and his smile deepened. “Xiao Yue, when are you planning to come back?”
When the man said come back, he’s naturally referring to A-Country, the country where their organization was located.
Qiao Yue was silent for a moment. “I’ll go back after I’ve fulfilled my filial duties to the old master.”
“Give me some time, I’ll think about whether I want to help you.” The man’s voice was getting hoarser.
Qiao Yue took a deep breath. “In two years. I’ll go back when time is up, but you can’t send anyone to monitor me when I’m here.”
“No problem. As long as you keep your promise, I’ll help you solve your problems.”
As the man’s words fell, the woman’s continuous screams came from the other end of the phone. Qiao Yue was not allowed to hang up until the high-pitched voice ended.
With a pale face, Qiao Yue mumbled that she felt sick. She got up from the wheel wheelchair and walked into the bathroom with a first aid kit.
Qiao Yue touched her aching chest and secured it with gauze. She looked at the wounds all over her body and sighed. Two years! Time seemed to be running out.
Qiao Yue cleaned herself up and came out of the bathroom when she received a call from the temporary leader of the organization.
“Master Yue, I’ve already set up everything around Yayi. Team A is on standby.” The woman’s voice was crisp and clear over the phone.
“Alright,” Qiao Yue responded.

As Qiao Yue hung up the woman’s call, Sister Lin’s call came in.
Qiao Yue sat back in her wheelchair, went to Qiao Jing’s door and knocked.
“Enter,” said Qiao Jing.
Qiao Yue pushed the door open and went in. “Brother, my teacher asked me to go to her place.”
“At this hour?” Qiao Jing’s face was filled with displeasure as he checked the time on his watch suspiciously.
“It’s Teacher Lin. She just got off work and wanted to ask me about the bet. Brother, you know that Teacher Lin and I knew each other.”
Qiao Yue believed in Qiao Jing’s ability, so she didn’t hide the fact that she knew Sister Lin.
Qiao Jing looked at her with a frown and asked his assistant to ask Sister Lin about the situation.
In the meantime, Qiao Yue could only wait face to face with Qiao Jing.
“I heard that you are old friends with that Teacher Lin. How did you meet her?” Qiao Jing asked with a judgmental stare.
Qiao Yue chuckled. “Everyone has a past! You can check it out yourself.”
Qiao Yue then added in her heart, “You can’t find it anyway.”
Qiao Jing’s eyes darkened. After a moment, he answered with a smile, “Sure.”
Qiao Jing’s smile gave Qiao Yue the heebie-jeebies. Did her brother take the wrong medicine? What did he mean by “sure”? He’s going to check it out himself?
Qiao Yue’s hair stood on end at Qiao Jing’s strange behavior. She wished that his assistant would come back soon with a reply.
Just as Qiao Yue was counting the seconds, Qiao Jing’s assistant called.
Qiao Yue peeked at Qiao Jing’s pale face and let out a long breath. She had finally passed.
After the call, Qiao Jing looked at Qiao Yue and said, “I’ll send you there.
Qiao Yue quickly waved her hand. “No need, no need. Brother, you can let the driver send me. You’ve worked hard all day. I can go by myself.”
“Are you afraid that I’ll see something?” Qiao Jing asked.
Qiao Yue shook her head like a rattle. “How can that be? Brother, I’m just concerned that you’ve been working all day, and I don’t want you to busy yourself with such a small matter.”
To convince Qiao Jing, Qiao Yue tried her best to open her eyes wide so that Qiao Jing could see her sincerity.
