“Why did you ask that?” Hephaestus asked.

I knew that she could tell if I was lying.

“I thought there was a chance it was a super secret saying passed down through the centuries.”

“Why?”

“I gotta go…”

“Normally we would do this the day after you got your Falna, but apparently you’re a special case,” Tsubaki told me.

There was a question at the end of that. I didn’t really have an issue with her knowing, she was the captain of the Familia and would hopefully help me out if anything went awry.

“I’ll tell you later, there's too many people around.”

Tsubaki took me over to the Guild to register me. One of either the top Executives or the Deity had to be present when registering, for the obvious reason of verifying the truth.

The Guild Headquarters was a large building with many people going in and out, almost everyone wearing armor and carrying weapons. Unlike a lot of the city when I first saw it there was less chaos and ruined buildings. Guards were patrolling the area, I could see a few teams of girls from a variety of races looking around for any danger. They included a red haired human girl, a young woman from the Far East, a prum with short pink hair and a young elf with blond hair.

“Astrea Familia,” Tsubaki said, noticing my gaze. “They’ve been on the rise over the past year with almost all of them being Level Two. They’ve also been acting as a sort of police force for the city.”

“Why are they all women?”

She shrugged. “Their Goddess’ preference probably. Never talked to them myself.”

It's a Familia of Waifu’s…

Inside the Guild were a bunch of people in business uniforms talking to the adventurers. Tsubaki took us to a werewolf woman with wavy red hair and bright golden eyes that seemed to be in her late teens. She had breasts as large as Tsubaki’s and wide hips, but didn’t have the same toned physique. The most noticeable thing about her was the fact that she looked like she’d rather be anywhere else, most likely in a bed asleep.

“Rosy! How ya doin?” Tsubaki said loudly.

A few adventurers looked over, but said nothing to the powerful member of the Hephaestus Familia.

“It's just Rose, Captain Tsubaki. What may I help you with?”

“Come now Rosy, put that frown away. I’m not here for trouble.”

“Apologies if I have offended you,” Rose said in a dead voice that reminded me of some of the cashiers at fast food places.

“Aww you’re too glum. Anyways I need you to register a new member for me.”

I was standing a bit behind Tsubaki so Rose had a good view of me. We just stared at each other for a few seconds.

“Uh, yo,” I said, breaking the silence. “I like your bowtie.”

She glanced down and then looked back at me, sighing.

“Fill this form out,” Rose said, taking out a piece of paper.

Instead of letting me grab a stool or go to a table Tsubaki picked me up from under my arms and sat me down on the desk.

“Can you not?” I said.

“Oh don’t be embarrassed, I just wanted to make sure you didn’t fall.”

“Liar.”
“I’ll get you some food after this to make it up to you,” she said, patting my back.

I felt like a toddler as I filled out the form while sitting on the front desk. It asked for my name, age, race, and homeland, as well as any other background stuff like former jobs or positions. Of course I was a child so that was left blank other than my experience helping out my parents. I put half-elf for my race, which wasn’t technically a lie.

While I was close to the werewolf beauty her nose twitched and she looked at me oddly. I remembered that beastkin had sharper senses and that apparently they could sometimes tell race by scent. Rose didn’t say anything though and just ignored it.

“Will he need an advisor?”

“Hmm, Kova what do you think? John told you what an advisor does right?”

Basically they provided information and advice to new adventurers and smaller Familias. John had told me that they would do a lot of that training themselves for me, but I wanted to get a stable foundation of knowledge. A Familia of Smiths would probably overlook some of the things that might be useful for me, such as plants or drop items that could be used in alchemy.

“Yes he did, and yes I would.”
Tsubaki nodded. “That's a yes then.”

“Ok I’ll try to get someone-.”
“Can’t you do it? I mean Miss Rose, you seemed very bored earlier so maybe this will give you something to do.”

“... Is that your official request,” Her eyes bored into me, almost as if she was trying to force me to say no just through her stare.

“Yes!”

Her shoulders slumped.

“Will the Hephaestus Familia be providing for his equipment?”
“Yeah, the boy will make it himself I’m sure,” Tsubaki said, trying to grab me off the counter.

I jumped down on my own, giving her a flat look.

The werewolf looked down at me, “When will you first be entering the Dungeon?”

“I’d say at least two weeks. I need to make my gear and get settled into the Familia and Orario.”

I also needed to find one of the shops to sell any other gear I make and to finish my LV formula.

“Okay then,” A slight sadistic gleam came to her eyes. “Be here every day at five AM for an hour and a half lesson. If you can’t do that then you’re wasting my time and I’ll find you someone else.”
“That’s fine, I'm kind of used to that anyways cause I grew up in the country.”

I was a morning person anyways, so I’d only be getting up a little earlier than normal.

“See you tomorrow Rose!” I said while leaving.

“A half-elf half-dwarf eh?” Tsubaki said, leaning back on the couch. “No wonder Hephaestus made those robes for you. Some Gods can be creepy pervs when it comes to their children. Like Apollo, stay away from him.”

“Noted,” Damn I thought Apollo was going to be a cool God.

Not that Tsubaki had much room to talk, after putting away my small amount of personal items she had sat me on her lap and hugged me like a teddy bear as I told her about myself. She kept on rubbing her cheek on my head.

“I’m also a halfie, though just a half-dwarf.”

“Bu-but you're so tall,” she wasn't huge, but was definitely taller than the average woman that he had seen.

She shrugged, “Got lucky I guess.”

Noticing my down look she cooed.

“Aww it's okay Kova, you're much cuter like this.”

How am I going to pick up girls just by being cute?

We were in a complex of buildings next to the Hephaestus Familia Workshops. I was given a little room with a kitchen and bathroom for myself. Tsubaki also stayed in the same place because most of the Familia resided here.

“Right then Kova,” Tsubaki said standing up. “Before I take you to your smithy, how about we test that magic of yours? There's a little yard nearby that we can use. It's not like an Enchantment magic is going to destroy the place.”

A smile split my face. Finally I was going to use magic for the first time. Looking up past her breasts I asked.

“Let me go.”

She hadn’t released me when she stood so I was a foot off the ground dangling.

I watched the dialogue for Astrea Record and Alise is probably one of my favorite Danmachi characters now.
