Chapter 56: Catch Some Rays

Now she was really doing it. Youna had somehow gotten to be alone with Ishi, on a beach, wearing little more than a bikini and him in swim trunks. Did she mention that she was alone with him? Either way, she was stuck with an important decision. That being to finally take off this robe and reveal to the entire world what she was wearing underneath… When it’s put in that way, it makes her sound like a weird pervert.

“This is more my style.” Ishi laid back onto the ground and relaxed. While a day at the beach was never on his list of things to do. It certainly did provide the boy with some things he did like to do. “I was a little shocked when you invited me, but it’s actually not so bad. So thanks for the offer.”

“R-right, it’s nothing.” It wasn’t nothing for her, and nor was the act of taking off this robe trivial for her either. When she was finished with it, there would be no turning back. Slowly, the girl undid the strings wrapped around her waist, which at this point had prevented others from catching a peek. Finally, she undid the strings and pushed aside the cloth, allowing it to drop from her shoulders and onto the ground.

Her heart was beating at well over 200 beats per minute as she stood still, waiting for him to say something. Which never came as he had laid down and closed his eyes as well. This was already hard enough on her as it was, but now she had to be pushed to her absolute limits with her next words. “Um… Well, wh-what do you think?”

“Hmm?” He opened one eye to look at her and see what she was talking about. “Oh, you’re wearing the bikini your mom wanted you to wear.” It took no time for him to recognize the outfit with a simple glance.

“I-it is.” She murmured back quietly. If he could tell what it was, then how did he feel about it? Especially compared to the one they picked out together.

“Don’t know what you were so worried about before.” He continued to speak. “It looks good on you.” The compliment was more than preferable for her to hear. It caused her blood to boil from the excitement as she laid down on her towel.

This day was off to an excellent start for her so far, but the girl couldn’t stop here. If she wanted to close the distance in their relationship, then she could begin to take the steps towards something more than just a friendship. Youna had already made major strides that she never imagined that she’d ever do with him.

Perhaps she had turned into someone who got comfortable with the status quo, content with only being a girl who was in the same class as Ishi. Then, when Rinse transferred into the school, some things had changed in her. Especially since that idol had so many coincidental conveniences to this boy right here. Maybe the girl needed that to realize just how slow she was taking things. The time running out on their high school life was coming to an end, and if she wanted to avoid a bitter goodbye, then she needed to do something for once.

“…” Now would be a good time for her to say something to him. There was no way to rely on him to start every conversation, but when she turned her head to him, it seemed that he had already closed his eyes again. Was he sleeping now? That would’ve been quick for him to just nod off like that. However, would it have been rude of her to interrupt his attempt?

This wasn’t his sleeping face, but what could she call a view that she had of him. The moments before sleeping face? That was a mouthful and not anywhere near as catchy. Maybe this wasn’t to be taken as a special moment for something between two people.

While she was thinking about the thought, Ishi opened up to eyes. His sight was now trained on her as she came to the unfortunate realization that she was caught staring once again. Quickly, the girl turned away from him, but it was already too late.

“Something on your mind?” He asked her. “You’ve been staring off into space all day, and it’s barely even noon.” The boy wasn’t the type to worry about the concerns of others, but it would be a problem for him if she kept this up all day.

“I’m fine.” She lied. Obviously she couldn’t tell him the real reason. It would be too embarrassing, plus that would mean confessing to him. There was no way she was ready to make a move like that. The last time she pushed herself too far, it went disastrously.

“I can tell when you’re lying.” He had her cornered now. “Really, it’s better to just let it off your chest then hold it in.”

“Well, um.” She needed to find some excuse, anything to get her out of this sticky situation. Only one thing popped up in her mind, and it was a little silly considering that it came from her mother. “Did you apply any sunscreen?” Coming from her mouth, it already made her dread his response.

Her mom had asked her not to put on sunscreen before coming to the beach. After all, how else could she ask him to help her with it?

“Thanks for reminding me, I did forget that.” He didn’t treat it as a dumb question as the boy snapped his fingers upon realizing the fact. “Where’s Koto? I gotta make sure that idiot doesn’t get himself sunburn.” Ishi was ready to leave, with sunscreen in hand when she took his arm to stop him.

“Wait.” She said. “Before you leave, could you…”

“You need me to get your back.” He finished the question for her. “Sure, I guess there’s no one else around that can do it for you.” His lack of hesitation and worry caused envy for the girl. There was also some disappointment mixed in there as he also wasn’t feeling conscious about doing it.

Slowly, the girl turned herself face down to allow him to spread the lotion over her. He was going to be touching her, which was already a stressful thing for her to think over. But also since she was laying with her back up, her butt which was barely covered by her bikini bottom was easily seen by him. The image of Rinse and how attractive her body was flashed in her mind.

“All right, I’m starting now.” He said as he gathered some sunscreen onto his hands and rubbed them onto her back. This was new for her, as she rarely spent time out on a beach. So having someone else touching her, Ishi no less, to spread this lotion over her back. She cursed herself for being such a perverted person that was enjoying his hands all over her. Well, all over her back at least. The process went by quickly as she was sure he wanted to go look for his cousin as quickly as possible.

“Thank you.” She said after he was finished. When the girl got up from laying down, she witnessed him applying his sunscreen onto himself now. Those hands of his, that were just all over hers were now being rubbed all along her body. Youna shuttered as she once again hated herself for having such a perverted thought. It was disrespectful of her to think of his intention being anything more than a simple kind gesture.

“Before I leave, can you get my back?” He handed her his bottle. “Might as well get it out of the way before I find Koto.” Now the tables were turned as she got a nice look at his naked back. Since he had graced her with the precious moment of applying sunscreen on her back, it was her turn to repay the favor.

“Y-yeah, I c-can do that.” Her hands were shaking as she got some lotion onto her hands. In mere moments, she’d be touching him and it wouldn’t be viewed as weird. Taking a deep breath, Youna made her move as she rubbed her hands onto his back. It was toned with muscles as she felt her heart racing from being able to break their physical barrier. This moment was one she wished lasted forever.

“Heya you two.” Unfortunately, it only lasted for about 10 seconds before someone came and interrupted them. Ryugi had come up to them, as she wanted something. That being she wanted to take Ishi away from Youna. “You aren’t honestly going to be wasting away such a beautiful day all alone like this?’

“It’s not wasteful if I’m enjoying it.” He responded. Hearing him say that made Youna feel really happy. This boy was actually glad to be sticking with a boring shy girl like her. “But I was actually about to go look for Koto. That boy needs to apply some sunscreen.”

“Your cousin, right?” She was not going to be deterred by him. “Actually, I think that saw that boy when I was coming over here. Let me take you to him.” Ryugi aggressively pulled him up to go drag him to the spot where she saw the younger boy.

“Sorry Youna, guess I’ll see you later.” While he wasn’t a fan of the pulling part. Ishi was going to be going to Koto anyway, so it wasn’t a big deal to be stuck with Ryugi.

“Yeah…” She replied disappointed. “I’ll see you later too.”
