Chapter 56.2 – Because Your Highness Asked (2)
Once things were said in the open, it wasn’t as difficult as initially thought. At least Lu Qipei was willing to be honest without hiding anything, and Qi Yang would not feel suspicious about her because of her background.
After the initial conversation, the two calmed down.
Lu Qipei saw that it was getting late, and knowing that Qi Yang had left the palace in a hurry without even having dinner, she had sent someone to prepare some food. After they finished eating the meal calmly, Lu Qipei asked, “Your Highness, are you going to return to the palace?”
Qi Yang rolled her eyes and prickly said, “Things aren’t over yet, why would I return to the palace?”
Lu Qipei didn’t ask anything else; she took out a tea set and made tea in front of Qi Yang.
Qi Yang looked at the person in front of her across the smell of tea. Her eyes were clear, and her posture relaxed. The panic she had when she was forced into a corner earlier had long disappeared. She was such a person in the first place, broad-hearted and pure, but she was born inside a whirlpool and unable to be free.
Looking at her, Qi Yang couldn’t help asking, “Have you ever felt any resentment?”
Lu Qipei didn’t expect this question, so the hand she was making tea with paused slightly. She looked down for a while, then said, “Yes.”
Lu Qipei didn’t expect that she would ask, so the tea maker paused slightly, looked down for a moment, and said, “Yes.”
For someone who had already died once, no matter how broad-hearted she was, how could she not have any resentment? Even when she decided to leave at the start of her rebirth, it wasn’t because she didn’t take what happened to heart, but because she knew her situation and how hard it would have been to get revenge.
After this question and answer, the two of them did not speak. There was only the occasional sound of water as tea was made.
When the tea was ready, Lu Qipei placed a cup full of green tea in front of Qi Yang, who then said something again. “Since you’re not hiding anything from me, tell me your plans for the future.”
Lu Qipei gripped the teacup with some force until her fingers turned a little white. “I will try to make His Majesty rescind his decree.”
Qi Yang was stunned, but she immediately reacted. She immediately got up and grabbed Lu Qipei’s collar from across the desk. “What are you talking about?” After asking that question, she became even more furious. “When even I don’t mind the trouble, how can you dare think about breaking our engagement!?”
Lu Qipei was caught off guard. She raised her eyes and saw Qi Yang’s angry face. It made her tremble so much she almost splashed hot tea on both of them. Realizing the danger, she quickly put down the tea cup in her hand and said, “Your Highness, please calm down. I just, I just…”
Before she could eke out a reason, Qi Yang was already staring at her fiercely. She said, “You don’t have a say in this, just listen to me!”

Under Her Royal Highness The Princess’s might, Lu Qipei could only cower, “Oh.”
Seeing her like this, Qi Yang could only let her go. She took off the hand that was holding her collar and sat back down, then took a sip from the tea cup. Because the freshly brewed tea was still hot and she drank it in a hurry, the tip of her tongue was immediately scalded and she almost vomited the tea out. But she could only endure it to keep her face.
Lu Qipei was worried when she saw this, so she held up her cup and urged her to vomit out the hot tea, then she took some fresh water for her to drink. After a few busy moments, seeing Qi Yang’s expression return to normal, she was finally relieved. “Your Highness, open your mouth. Let me see if it’s scalded.”
Of course, Qi Yang refused. She lightly pressed the tip of her tongue on her teeth and it only felt slightly numb, so she felt that she was fine. She waved her hand with a serious look and said, “I’m fine. I still have something serious to say.”
Unfortunately, after that little chaos just now, the little princess’s previously domineering aura had disappeared.
Lu Qipei looked at her worriedly but didn’t say anything else. She straightened the collar that Qi Yang had messed up before and sat down across her again. She sat upright, seemingly listening attentively with the same kind of seriousness.
Qi Yang then returned the previously interrupted topic back on track, “You said before that the matter of the Rong State envoy’s escape is related to the Lu family. What’s going on? Explain to me first.”
This was the most important information, so Lu Qipei definitely would not hide the details from her. Starting from her suspicions about Qi Bo, to the stores that she took over, and the traces of the forces behind that she found by following the clues, she explained everything to her clearly.
In the end, she managed to find something that wasn’t right. After investigating it, she found that Qi Bo was involved with the Rong State envoys’ escape, and most of them had already left the capital for the north.
After saying these things, it was as if she was afraid that she didn’t tell them in enough detail, or that QI Yang would not be able to remember everything she heard. Lu Qipei looked for a brush and ink, and wrote down all the people involved with the Lu family’s forces, including their personal identities and characteristics, so it would be very convenient to find them.
With such dedication, even Qi Yang couldn’t help but look at Lu Qipei again, wondering, “Do you believe in me so much?”
Lu Qipei put down her brush and smiled, and handed over the papers she had written on. “Your Highness treats me sincerely. I can trust you.”
Besides, so what if Her Highness had other thoughts? The Lu family had not treated her well, although what she did now was a betrayal, she was not psychologically burdened in the slightest.
Her heart was completely biased towards Her Royal Highness.
Author’s notes:
Qi Bo (crying bitterly): This prodigal child! I left her some clues so she would understand her background and do not get (emotionally) trapped too deep. Instead, she couldn’t stop selling out her teammates!
Lu Qipei (with a cold face): Sorry, I already fell into the trap in my previous life.
