Chapter 37.1 – Your Highness, Sweet (1)

Lu Qipei wasn’t a very strong drinker, but she was very aware of that. Plus, she had secrets to hide, so she had always drunk in moderation when outside. At most, she would drink three to five cups of wine and stop when she was slightly drunk, but she had never gotten any problem.

The only exception was if she was drinking with Qi Yang – she had never been wary of the princess.

Today was no exception. No matter how strong the wine was, it was only one cap, so Lu Qipei drank it without much precaution. She was going to leave after drinking, but just because one cup of wine, her vision blurred when she tried to get up. Immediately afterwards, her head felt dizzy as if heaven and earth was spinning around. It didn’t feel unfamiliar – it was just like when one was drunk. The rest was also mostly drunk, pointing and laughing at her.

In her trance, she seemed to hear Liu Chen saying with a smile, “Brother Lu doesn’t seem to be able to hold his alcohol. Just one cup and he’s drunk.”

As soon as these words were spoken, there was even more laughter at the banquet. The buzzing sounds seemed to have gone straight to the eardrums, giving her a headache.

Lu Qipei propped her head up and tried to calm down. Although her mind was much slower at the moment due to the wine’s influence, she still realized something was wrong – no matter how bad she was at holding her alcohol, there was no way she couldn’t even handle one cup. Plus, the effects had been too fast!

The moment she realized that, Lu Qipei knew that she couldn’t stay here any longer. She stood up in a daze, turned around and walked away without saying a word. But her footsteps were slightly staggering, and her direction was not quite right. She didn’t manage to touch the door she was going for and almost hit the wall instead.

Someone supported her with a stifled laugh, “Brother Lu is drunk. Better sit down and sober up first.”

Lu Qipei pushed him away; although she was slender and thin, her strength was not small. She pushed the person supporting her until he staggered and stumbled a few steps back, directly slamming onto the table full of leftovers.

It turned out that it was Kong Jie who went to help her. He was half drunk and half sober, but he still went to help because he didn’t want to offend his colleagues. But his effort was not appreciated and Lu Qipei pushed him away, making his lower back hurt and even dissipating some of his drunkenness.

Which person did not have their pride? Not to mention that Kong Jie was the imperial examination’s number one scholar, and this was the moment he was most proud of in his life. But in the end, he went to Hanlin Academy and wasn’t taken seriously there, and was outshone by Lu Qipei everywhere.

And right now that person still had such an attitude… He was a little annoyed; he sat back down and rubbed his butt, no longer trying to stand up. He no longer cared about Lu Qipei who was still holding onto the wall, feeling her way towards the door and insisting to leave.

Seeing this, a smile appeared on the corner of Liu Chen’s lips. He straightened his expression and said to Kong Jie, “Brother Kong, are you alright? Brother Lu is drunk and didn’t mean to do that. Just sit tight here, I’ll see him off.” Then he added, “Don’t worry, his coachman also followed us here earlier.”

In the end, it was Kong Jie who brought him here, and it was his responsibility if anything happened to Lu Qipei. This was the reason Kong Jie cared so much. After hearing what Liu Chen said, he finally felt relieved. He nodded his head and thanked him, and no longer paid attention to Lu Qipei.

Lu Qipei also didn’t need him to pay attention to her. She finally felt her way to the door and went out as the two talked. She randomly grabbed a random waiter who passed by and asked him to bring her out. The waiter was a bit curious that she was drunk although she didn’t have a heavy smell of alcohol around her, but in the end drunkards were the most common thing to see in the restaurant, so it wasn’t too surprising. He agreed and soon helped her go out of the House of Happiness.

Liu Chen stood behind the two and watched them leave. He turned around and saw another waiter passing by, so he called him and told him a few words.

A few moments later, Lu Qipei finally got out of the House of Happiness like she wanted. Before the water could ask how she was planning to leave, he saw a coachman jumping out of a carriage in front of the door and running over quickly. “Young Master, Young Master, how did you get so drunk!?”

As he spoke, he took her from the waiter’s hand and helped her get into the carriage.

When she heard his voice, she felt that it was a bit unfamiliar, but her coachman was taciturn and they never spoke much with each other. Also, her eyes were blurry from the drunkenness, so she didn’t notice anything wrong for a while.

She followed him for a few steps dizzily. She saw the carriage nearby, but suddenly a hand reached out from across. Before the two could respond, Lu Qipei was pulled away from the coachman, and she immediately fell into a soft embrace.

The familiar smell instantly relieved Lu Qipei’s tense nerves – she vaguely heard the coachman’s painful cry, followed by a familiar voice coldly ordering, “Gag his mouth and tie him up, and bring him back for me!”

Although there was an unfamiliar coldness, it was indeed Qi Yang’s voice, and Lu Qipei completely relaxed.

Qi Yang looked at the drunkard in her embrace and felt depressed. She ordered someone to tie up the unfamiliar coachman, then stretched her hand to pinch Lu Qipei’s blushing white cheek. “What’s the matter with you? Even if you went out drinking with others, how could you drink yourself until like this?”

Lu Qipei vaguely heard a few words, but she was too drunk to respond. She dazedly rubbed her head against Qi Yang’s neck, like a kitten trying to please her owner, and whispered softly in her ear, “Your Highness…”

Qi Yang shuddered. Her heart skipped a beat and she didn’t have any time to worry about anything else. She didn’t want anyone else to see Lu Qipei like this, so she quickly carried her inside the carriage and left.

As for the rest, she had plenty of time to settle the accounts!
