Lai Jiayi took a deep breath and stood in front of Jia Biyu's grave until Zhao Yang noticed her. The young man paused. He gripped the bouquet in his hand.
"...morning, " Zhao Yang mumbled as he strode to the tomb. The man then squatted next to Lai Jiayi, even before the girl could greet him.
Lai Jiayi flinched. She moved aside so she won't be too close to the squatting man. "M-morning, boss…" the girl replied in a small voice.
Somehow, her muscles tensed even when nothing was going on.
'Damn it. I'm so nervous. This is a crucial day. I can't let anyone disturb me.'
Lai Jiayi inhaled cold air and fell silent. She watched Zhao Yang placing the bouquet in front of the tomb as he closed his eyes.
At this moment, Lai Jiayi knew she had some jobs to do before going home, and she had to do it fast to do her plan. But, she didn't understand why she couldn't move her eyes away from Zhao Yang's figure.
As usual, the man kneeled on the snowy ground. The white snow tainted his light blue trousers, yet the man didn't seem to care. Even when the wind was blowing, and the surroundings were chillingly cold, Zhao Yang didn't move.
He stayed in front of the tomb for several minutes, doing something only he knew.
Lai Jiayi gulped. She rubbed her pale white palms together while slowly moving to the tomb next to Jia Biyu's tomb. It was Zhao Yun's parent's grave.
The girl then started to clean the tomb, but she did it as cautiously as she could, so that she wouldn't disturb Zhao Yang.
15 minutes passed by without the two speaking.
Lai Jiayi had finished cleaning Zhao Yun's parents' tomb, and coincidentally, Zhao Yang had also finished his business. He slowly stood up and patted his knees, scrubbing the snow sticking to his trousers.
Lai Jiayi subconsciously peeked at the man. The girl's eyelashes trembled.
[Yaya, when should I use the gas?] Lai Jiayi asked as she wiped her cold sweat. Even when she was sweating, it felt cold instead of hot.
[Maybe after you two strike a conversation, quack? It will be bad if I use the gas now and Zhao Yang leaves, quack.] Yaya floated around Lai Jiayi's head. The duck held his breath.
'The air is so suffocating. I guess I'm also nervous, huh.'
Yaya had just thought like that when Zhao Yang suddenly looked his way. The young man threw a short glance at Yaya before looking at Lai Jiayi.
"Have you cleaned this one?" Zhao Yang pointed at Biyu's tomb. The young man's deep voice sounded so cold at the moment.
Lai Jiayi subconsciously clutched her arms and shuddered.
'Uh...is he mad at me?'
"N-no, I haven't…" Lai Jiayi peeked at Zhao Yang's face. She thought that the man would be angry since his voice sounded cold. But, contrary to her expectation, the man's face was just as usual.
Stoic. And a bit pale this time. When he spoke, white steam flowed out of his mouth.
'Oh, he's not angry.'
Lai Jiayi nodded to herself. The girl then tilted her head, waiting for Zhao Yang to speak.
"....then you clean it first." Zhao Yang stepped back, letting Lai Jiayi come closer to the tomb. The man then crossed his arms in front of his chest as he stood behind Lai Jiayi.
Lai Jiayi nodded. She hurriedly squatted and started to clean the tomb. She began by scooping the snow around the grave before scrubbing the gravestone with a piece of clean cloth.
As she worked, the air became even colder than before, and Lai Jiayi's hands turned frighteningly white. The tip of her fingers turned red, and she couldn't stop trembling.
Her hands shuddered as she gripped the clean cloth. Her fingers turned stiff. It was quite hard for her to move her hands properly.
'Damn. I should have worn a glove.'
Lai Jiayi wailed in her heart, not knowing that Zhao Yang was watching her from behind. His eyes glazed over Lai Jiayi's stiff and red fingers.
He couldn't help but frown.
"Are you done?" Zhao Yang suddenly asked in a low voice, startling Lai Jiayi. The girl hurriedly turned around, still squatting on the ground.
"N-not yet, b-boss."
"How long?" Zhao Yang tugged his suit, covering his black turtleneck t-shirt underneath.
"E-emmm, 30 minutes to an hour?" Lai Jiayi tilted her head. The pile of snow on top of her head fell to the ground.
The girl didn't realize that she was already covered in snow. She would turn into a snowman in no time.
Zhao Yang pursed his lips and sighed. He nodded and waved his hand. "Alright. Continue." The man urged Lai Jiayi to continue her work without saying anything else.
It made the girl frown.
'What's with this man? Ugh, if only my work finishes sooner. I can immediately do my plan!'
Lai Jiayi turned around and started to clean up again. This time, the girl used the grass cutter pocket machine to clean up the dry grass around the tomb.
'Let's hope Zhao Yang doesn't suddenly go home…'
While Lai Jiayi secretly thought of the man, Zhao Yang was talking to Tianjin through telepathy.
[Do you have a small barrier or capsule?] Zhao Yang asked as he tapped his right foot to the ground. The snow around his shoes scattered throughout the ground. [Also...a pocket warmer.] Zhao Yang continued.
[I have a small invisible capsule and a small pocket warmer, master, ] Tianjin answered. She looked at Zhao Yang in a daze.
'For what, though?'
