Walking down the street, Lu Shao held Su Ran’s hand and shoved it into his jacket pocket.
Feeling that the woman next to him seemed to have pushed herself closer to him without realizing it, Lu Shao turned slight to look over at her.
“Are you cold?”
“Yes.” Su Ran nodded and replied honestly.
It was a very cold day. Had she known, she would have added another wool sweater on under her down jacket and also the scarf that her son had given her before, on her birthday.
Even though Su Ran genuinely found the scarf with the dark red and green stripes ugly but, it was thick and had felt on one side. It was really warm.
And Su Han too.
It was so cold and there was no heater inside the classrooms. She figured his hands and feet would be cold from sitting in there for so long.
She should have him dressed even warmer.
Su Ran couldn't help but frowned a little when she thought about her son.
Right when Su Ran was worried about whether Su Han was cold, she felt a grip on her arm and she was pulled into Lu Shao’s embrace.
Looking at the interaction between the two, Mother Du WenTao couldn't help but smile.
She was a little bit envious.
She must have Du WenTao’s father transfer back before Du WenTao’s junior year in high school.
Zhou Qin brought the couple next to her to the 24 hours shop that she had mentioned earlier while she was making plans.
It was early in the morning and they’d all had breakfast before leaving their houses.
There was no way they could order a big pot of mala tang as soon as they had arrived.
Instead, they ordered a pot of tea and some breakfast snacks when the two women started talking about the everlasting topic among parents: The education of their children.
“One of my schoolmate, her daughter is in Class #7. Apparently the Class Teacher of Class #4 had mentioned to the parents they wouldn’t even be ranking the kids by their individual class anymore for this final. There would only be a grade-wise ranking.”

“Is that so? Their entire grade have some 400~500 students, no?” Su Ran raised her brows upon hearing that.
“Right?” asked Zhou Qin, looking worried.
Originally, her son could at least rank in the 30s range even if he didn’t do well.
Now that they would be ranking the entire grade together, he would drop down to 300-400s in rank. That would sound so bad.
“I thought to myself ‘oh, finals are coming’ and signed Du WenTao up to some after-school programs. Guess how that turned out? As it turned out, he still didn’t know what he didn’t get before.
“And guess what else? He even skipped class last week and went to play basketball! His teacher called and informed me and the little brat Du WenTao came back drenched in sweat, and still wanted to lie to me!”
The corners of Su Ran’s eyes twitched when she heard the last part of what Mother Du WenTao was saying.
She knew about the basketball game.
In fact, she had something to do with it.
She saw Su Han sitting around and studying at home for hours on end and wanted him to do something else.
She “ordered” her son to go with Du WenTao and a few others in class to play basketball downstairs in their area.
She didn’t think that her son was so “charming” that Du WenTao would “risk his life” and skip class.
“Ahem.” Su Ran cleared her throat and comforted Zhou Qin, “You don’t need to worry that much. Class #8 scores pretty high overall.”
“They are but the class teacher has also said that the kids in our class are very polarized.”
Her Du WenTao was part of the lower of the two groups.
Besides, Zhou Qin wanted to add that per what the class teacher had told them, Class #8 ranked high overall because they were mainly prodded up by the couple valedictorians –– Su Han and their class lead.
“In addition,” Zhou Qin paused a little before she carried on to say, “I’ve heard that they were doing some cross problem sets this time. The problem sets for the freshmen were all put together by teachers of the junior classes, following the standard of the high school entrance examination.”
“Really?” Su Ran, too, got nervous when she heard what Zhou Qin was saying.
“If that’s the case. The level of difficulty would go up by a lot?” said Su Ran, frowning.
At this very moment in time, she seemed to have completely forgotten that her son was someone was a valedictorian who could easily score in the 80s when he did the high school entrance examination problem sets.
