Chapter 22.2 - About Chinese New Year 1 Part 2

“Oh my goodness. Are there more? I’m getting addicted. Sequel please, eldest princess!”

Yang Han: “This is all I managed to get.”

Xu Jia: “Then how did they get together?”

Yang Han: “I don’t know. Old Han’s keeping me in suspense for more. He said he would tell me when he finds the time to.”

Xu Jia: “Ugh.”

She continued, “Sigh. I suddenly feel like eating mochis now. I also want someone to gift me sweet pastries and experience sweet love.”

Yang Han couldn’t help but smile, “Next time, I’ll get the secretary sister beside Old Han to bring you a box.”

Real gold would always shine anywhere.

That little boss who sold mochis used her clever brain and skills as fierce as the tiger, depended on real sales result to be crowned among the student groups at the food festival.

At the award ceremony.

As the representative for prize giving, Han Shi Yu handed her the award as the little boss smiled at him with the gentle gaze of an aunt.

Han Shi Yu: “?”

The two of them got to know each other after that.

And much later on, she even became the secretary of Ji Xun’s chairman.

Yang Han put down her phone.

The days had entered winter as they finished their final exams. The scent of Chinese New Year hung heavily in the air.

Yang Han wore cotton slippers as she walked to the living room and said to Yang Mo who was on the couch, “Dad, I’m going with Grandma to buy Chinese New Year’s clothes the day after tomorrow.”

Yang Mo: “Mhmm.”

Yang Han: Can you give me some money?”

Yang Mo transferred some to her, “Don’t act like last time again.”

Yang Han scratched her head in embarrassment.

Yang Mo was wearing a white turtleneck knitted shirt as he typed away loudly on his laptop keyboard. She leaned against Yang Mo, putting her head on his shoulder as she stared at the numbers and English words on the screen that she couldn’t understand. She asked, “Where are we going to spend our Chinese New Year this year?”

Yang Mo: “My hometown.”

Yang Han cheered with a ‘yay’.

“By the way,” Yang Mo said, “We’ll be travelling with Lu Yue Ming.”

Yang Han blinked.

Lu Yue Ming and Yang Mo’s hometown were in the same place.

Because he had to stay back in school for special programming classes, his parents headed home first. During this time, Lu Yue Ming kept going to Yang Mo to ask questions and learned from him. As they chatted casually, Yang Mo found out about his situation, and coincidentally they lived in the same neighbourhood. And so, Yang Mo proposed to drive him home, helping him save up on a train ticket.

Every time they went back to Yang Mo’s hometown, it was Han Shi Yu who personally drove on the highway.

The back of the trunk was filled with big and small bags, travelling over a hundred miles, recording the changing landscapes along the way. The night sky and tunnel lights reflected on the roof window over their heads…all of these was an unspeakable sense of happiness to Yang Han. It felt like at that time, there was only their family of three left in the entire world.

In this fast-paced era of advanced technology, one ticket could take anyone to travel thousand of miles in a matter of minutes. A long-distance trip like this felt more like travelling back your hometown for Chinese New Year. When arriving at the destination, although filled with fatigue, it was a more precious feeling to instantly meet the relatives you had dearly missed.

The end of the year was so busy that both Liu Zuo Ye and Yang Han couldn’t find time to fulfil that agreement of theirs. And so, they scheduled for their next meeting to be on the first weekend of winter break.

Han Shi Yu and Yang Mo drove to the boutique to pick up their daughter and Han Lang.

Yang Han’s belongings were packed and loaded into the car in advance already. After she picked up their outfits, they immediately got into the car and set out.

When Yang Han got into the back seat, he saw Lu Yue Ming in the last row and excitedly called out, “Xiao Lu!”

Lu Yue Ming smiled at her. He was wearing a red scarf with squares, wrapping his chin in it, looking like an obedient child.

Yang Han squeezed her way through and sat down beside him.

Han Lang also got into the car and closed the door. Yang Mo who was in the passenger seat looked at the energetic her through the rear-view mirror, the corners of his mouth rose slightly. Han Shi Yu in the driver’s seat, turned his head towards the back and asked, “All set to go?”

Yang Han: “Yeah!”

Stepping on the pedal, they were going home.

couplets for the gatehouse.

Seeing Han Shi Yu roll down the car window, he raised a thick eyebrow and said, “Oh? You’re back.”

Han Shi Yu: “Haha.”

Yang Mo said, “Uncle.”

The security guard reached over and glanced within the car. Yang Han poked her head out and paid early respects to him, “Happy Chinese New Year, Grandpa Wu!”

When he saw her, the security guard smiled happily and said, “Hello to you too, Yang Yang.”

Lu Yue Ming naturally knew the security guard as well and greeted him.

While registering their vehicle, the security guard said, “Sigh, Old Yang had been nagging about you for a long time now. He complained to the old guys and grannies at the park that you two brats never called to tell if you’d be back for Chinese New Year. Great, now we all know you didn’t call again.”

Yang Mo: “……”

Han Shi Yu laughed, “Well, isn’t this because it’s a surprise?”

“We asked him, if he had so much to nag about, why not just move in with his children. Old Yang yelled back, saying there was nowhere better than here. He wouldn’t leave no matter how much money he’s given.” The security guard laughed, “Hurry up and pick him up. He even tried to shamelessly get out of a chess game these days, how vexing.”

Han Shi Yu and Yang Han smiled while Han Lang laughed out a little.

It wasn’t that Yang Mo never asked his father to move in with them, but his old man was too stubborn to agree to it.

The security guard handed the card to Han Shi Yu, who paid the parking fee and drove in to find a parking space.

The doorbell rang.

Old Yang opened the door as their family dog, a border collie barked a few times.

The moment he saw Yang Mo, Old Yang glared a little and said, “You still know to return home.”

Yang Mo replied plainly, “Oh.”

He looked over his shoulder and asked, “Where’s Yang Han?”

Wearing new clothes, Yang Han appeared behind Yang Mo and pounced on him. She sweetly called out, “Grandpa!”

Old Yang’s expression instantly softened and his eyebrows eased up. Seeing Yang Mo did bring back his precious granddaughter, he decided to forgive this rebellious son of his.

Old Yang patted the granddaughter who was hanging on his neck and laughed, “Get off first, get off first. I can’t breathe!”

Han Lang saw this scene when she came in. Old Yang smiled at her and said, “You’re here.”

Warm puffs of air wafted across the room. Han Lang looked around this warm but simple house as her gaze landed on the flower birds on the balcony. She walked over with joy.

She teased the canary and budgerigar parrot in the cages and said, “You’ve raised these many birds again.”

Old Yang: “I remembered you were fond of them, so I thought of buying a few mores and sending them to you after they grew well.”

Han Lang shook her head and smiled, “Forget it. I do like them, but I can’t raise them well.”

Old Yang: “There are some orchids that are easy to take care of. Take a pot with you when you leave.”

Han Lang: “Sure.”

Yang Mo watched them from afar.

He knew that his father and Han Shi Yu’s mother had a particularly good relationship over their shared hobbies. Many times, he hinted at Han Shi Yu to bring these two old people together. After all, both of them were single and it would be easier to have a good companion on the latter part of their lives.

But Old Yang always disagreed. He knew Han Lang was a chairman and even ran a business on her own. In other words, he was afraid he would get in the way of her life.

At that time, Han Shi Yu laughed when he heard this from Yang Mo, “Old Yang still knows how to play coy.”

Yang Han went to play with the border collie dog. After finishing with introducing the flower birds and orchids, Old Yang suddenly realized there was someone missing. He turned to Yang Mo who was drinking tea on the sofa and asked, “Where’s Han Shi Yu?”

Earlier on, they passed by the community square and met a group of children who was playing with fireworks. Han Shi Yu went to educate them, telling them not to play with fireworks without being accompanied by adults.

While educating them, he eventually joined them and lost himself in the fun.

Just at this time, came some children’s whiny and complaining voices from downstairs.

Yang Mo put down his cup of tea and simply said, “Fighting with kids at the community square.”

Old Yang: “.”
