Chapter 1. I, crushed by self-inflicted calamities

"Vivian, I've been looking for you for a long time because you're not in the bedroom. What are you doing here?"

"Well... ."

It was a warm afternoon.

Vivian, who was hiding among the garden bushes looking left and right, lifted her head squeaking.

Her fiance, Aslan Rezef Astaroth, who she was going to be married with next month, looked down at her with his arms folded.

He is nearly two meters tall, his broad shoulders and stiff chest, and his veins are bristling. It was such a threatening body that it reminded anyone of a beast.

However, when he met his fiancee, his eyes were as beautiful as a half moon.

"If you wanted to go for a walk, why didn't you call me?! I wish we could come out together."

"Well, you look so busy... ."

"If you want to, I can spare a minute."

Aslan walked up and heard the clattering of pebbles. It was just that, but a cold sweat ran down on Vivian's back.

She was, in fact, caught trying to sneak away.

"You don't look well, do you? You shouldn't overdo it if you are not feeling well. Let's go for now."

"Well, that's a problem."

"Are you having a hard time?"

"I've got an urgent letter, so I think I'll have to go out. Here's a letter... ."

However, she fully anticipated this difficulty.

Vivian took out a plan B she had prepared in advance. It was a letter from her half-sister who couldn't live without her.

A brilliant golden envelope flashed in the sun between her strong fingers.

For some reason, the prince's letter was there... .

"Why is this here? I'm sure you throw it away!"

"Ah, that's right."

Aslan's eyes hardened at the appearance of the letters that were different from the plan.

She doesn't know why such an ominous object was here, but she knew that it made Aslan very uncomfortable.

"Haha, my vision has become a bit blurry these days."

Vivian smiled awkwardly and hid the prince's letter behind her back.

But it's already too late. Aslan went behind her and tore the prince's letter to shreds.

The splendid golden envelope turned to dust and disappeared.

"There must be no problem going back to the bedroom now."

"It was a mistake before. Here, it's a real letter from Iris, sin't it?"

Anyway, the prince's letter disappeared. Now that the evidence is gone, Aslan can no longer do anything about it.

Vivian took out a letter from her half-sister and smiled proudly.

However, if there was something she hadn't expected, it was the fact that for Aslan, Iris's letter was also thorn by her fiancee.

"You're not leaving are you?"

"Why, why do you see it like that?"

"You promised to stay with me today. I've been waiting for today only."

Needless to say, it was a sunny afternoon. An afternoon when bluebirds were singing and cats were taking a nap.

But Vivian was so cold that she couldn't bear. Aslan's eyes went down hit the freezing point, and it was so cold that she can't stand it!

"Cough, cough!"

"Vivian... .!"

"Well, it's nothing, I just thought it was a little chilly."

It was the moment Vivian, who was staggering from a cough, accidentally hugged Aslan's chest. The cold air that had been spreading in all direction calmed down in a flash.

Feeling the gentle spring breeze, Vivian cried sadly inside.

'So when will I to run away?'

Aslan hugged her waist and his voice cracked low like an excited beast

"We are only a few days away from being a real couple. Thinking about that day, I was so excited that I couldn't sleep at all. You too, Vivian."

No it's not!

Vivian, unable to confidently shout out, cried bitterly in her heart.

Thinking back on why she became like tis, all the disasters came from a single miswritten will.

***

[By the time this will be discovered, I will no longer in the world. My leave is the way for everyone, so don't look for me or wait.

All property and territorial rights I possess shall be inherited by my fiance, His Highness Aslan.]

Aslan Rezef Astaroth, the second prince as well as grand duke of the Empire, glared at the paper held out in front of him with a displeased face.

He did not read the contents of the will, but looked through the signatures at the bottom.

Vivian Eleonora.

It was the name of a fiancee whom he choose for political reasons, but ended up disliking her. It was because she had committed all kinds of dirty and cruel evil just because she loved him.

The Grand Duke's voice came out cynically.

"Did you interrupt the office hours just to show me a piece of paper?"

"It's not just paper... ."

"Yes, will. Ha! She's going to play a self-written play to get my attention again. What a wonderful woman she is. I'm always trying to see how far my patience goes."

Just thinking about the princess's venomous eyes like snakes made his head throb.

But the end of this nonsense was not far off.

Until now, considering the political relationship, he had been silent abot the atrocities of the princess, but now he has a legitimate reason to break off he marriage.

'Duke Eleonora has a hidden child out of wedlock. He committed the disgrace of a nobleman.'

Nobles are sensitive to gossip. They enjoys teasing their tongue like a knife in order to overturn the boring daily life  that repeats itself like a treadmill.

However, the Duke touched an innocent maid when she was young, and when she became pregnant, fearing that the head of the household woul find out, the duke tortured the maid until she died and abandoned her in the hills.

The maid passed away shortly after giving birth to her daughter. However, the child who does not know this situation is coming up to the capital in search of her biological father.

After all, there are no eternal secrets in the world.

'If you do a little behind the scenes, Eleonora's social reputation will fall to the bottom. It will make breaking off the engagement much easier.'

Vivian knew this stoo. He said it directly to her face.

So, there was no doubt that this suicide commotion was a last resort before she was abandoned.

However, the expression of the chief chamberlain looking at Aslan was still dark.

"T-that's... . It seems to be real this time."

"What do you mean?"

"The princess has a lung disease."

Aslan, who was nervously going through the papers, stopped. After receiving the owner's gaze, the chamberlain quickly continued.

"Haven't we been recruiting servants of the Eleonora family in strict secrecy? Among them, the attending physician said that when she discovered the symptoms of consumptive disease in the princess, her condition had already reached its peak and there was no way to treat it."

"You mean the hemoptysis was seen at the last stage?"

"Yes, after hearing from the attending physician that night there was no solution, the princess's behaviours became somewhat strange. She looked like she was a different person.'

"Consumptive disease is an incurable disease that even the royal family doctor can't handle."

Aslan remembered her face.

To be precise, the insensitive eyes like dead fish hidden under a fancy mask.

'If you whisper love with those eyes, what kind of man will believe it? After coveting superficial power, the ending is also futile.'

He thought is was a pity, but that was it.

However, personal impressions and the political situation were separated. There was no way that his half-brother, Crown Prince Johannes, who was aiming for his leash, would miss such an opportunity.

If the princess really died, it was clear that the responsibility for the incident would be put on him anyway.

For trivial reasons, such as not fulfilling her fiance's duties or neglecting the state of the princess.

"Has there been any reaction from the emperor?"

"Your Highness's fiancee is no different from His Majesty's daughter-in-law, so He have ordered a through investigation into the cause of this tragedy."

"Damn it, find it first. I mean, find it anyway before she die!"

Aslan's voice hitting the desk contained anger that coul not be hidden.

Until the last moment, she was a sick woman who keep holding him back. But now that the situation had come to this, she could never be left to die.

We had to get rid of all the elements that the emperor could find fault with.

"You must... . Find it and bring it to me. If he's already dead, bring his body. I have to do at least a messy play."

"Yes, Master.'

The Duchess's room should be decorated luxuriously, and the wedding and funeral arrangements should be carried out at the same time.

The head chamberlain deeply bowed his head, predicting that he would be busy for the time being.

***

How many days had passed since he wrote a will and secretly escaped from the Duke's residence?

Vivian realized that the situation she was in was not very good.

Well, she doesn't know when it would have been good, but now she felt with her whole body that she was really becoming a all-time 'X'.

"I just felt a little early before I died... . Wanting to spend the rest of my life comfortably isn't such a mortal sin, is it?"

Vivian regretting stepping on the flow of the original, but it was already to late. There was a house-sized black lion lurking in front of her.

The shape of the golden eyes tighten the life in a leash.

The moment you turn your back and run away, you will surely be torn to pieces and die.

'Why is Aslan, who should be quietly inheriting my wealth in the capital, here, and in such a terrifying way!"

Vivian calmly recalled how she had fallen into such a gem of situation.

After she died in an accident, she became possessed by <The Curse of Astaroth>, a hardcore 19+ novel that she had read until just before.

This novel begins with a distant ancient, nameless hero defeating the demon Astaroth.

Astaroth, who was a black lion demon, put a curse on the hero as he died.

[ I will definitely be resurrected! I will take away your descendants, the descendants of your descendants, and the bodies of people who inherited your blood, and use them as sacrifices for resurrection!]

The hero became the emperor of the empire, and strange things began to happen in the imperial family.

Even though they were born with human wombs, the princes and princesses who turned into black lion began to appear. When they died, the curse was passed to other members of the imperial family like a bridle.

Aslan, the male lead of this novel, was a prince who overwrote such a curse 'artificially'.

Originally, the imperial family that should have been curse was Johannes, the crow prince of the empire. However, the emperor transferred the curse to Aslan the 2nd prince of the maid in the bedroom, using black magic.

Vivian was Aslan's fiancee with such a miserable narrative.

Unaware of Aslan's curse, she was obsessed with his looks and power, and was a typical villain who was ex*cuted for trying to k*ll her half-sister, female lead, when he fell in love with her.

'It was fortunate that the time I possessed was before the female lead appeared but... .'

It was a month ago that Vivian became possessed, which corresponds to the beginning of the play in the original story. Since it was before the incident started in earnest, she thought it would e okay to live quietly as if holding her breath.

But nothing in the world was going her way.

Due to the nature of the villain, which is not given a specific narrative, there was a serious problem that was not revealed in the surface of the novel.

Vivian was dying of lung disease.

The attending physician said, 'at most, a year'.

As if to prove her words, her face reflected in the mirror was a pale as a sheet of paper, and her body was skinny.

Even though it was set that consumptive disease in this world were not contagious.

Vivian realized that even the servants were ignoring her. But she decided not to think hard about it.

'It's better if nobody cares about me. It's a pity that I've possessed, but in a terminal condition, even so I should enjoy the rest of the time.'

She immediately planned an escape and wrote a will.

[By the time this will be discovered, I will no longer in the world.]

I'm going to wash my identity.

[My leave is the way for everyone, so don't look for me or wait.]

I'll spend the rest of my life at leisure in one of the finest resorts in the South. Try to find people and don't disturb them.

[All property and territorial rights I possess shall be inherited by my fiance, His Highness Aslan.]

'What's going to happen even if I don't keep the original? It's money that I can't pack and take it with me anyway, but this much would be fine.'

If she left, the remaining property would be taken by his father, Duke Eleonora, but she hated that for some reason.

Even though he knew that she was on the brink of death and was beaten by the servants, he never came to see her face.

Even if he happened to run into her while passing by, he just turned his head away as if he was looking at garbage.

'It's over now. Let's leave.'

It was an exciting runaway, but the first few days were extremely careful. Dressing as simple as possible and took a detour on the road.

However, until she reached the southern gateway across the empire, there were no pursuers or hindrances, so Vivian put her mind at ease.

She returned to her original fancy dress and took the carriage. Since she had suffered all along, she wanted to move comfortably on mountain roads.

In the midst of that, it could be said that it was bad luck to encounter a group of bandits.

Not to Vivian, but to the thieves.

"How dare you rob my carriage! Are  you crazy because you want to stop living as a group?"

"Sav- Save me... !"

The Eleonora family was a prestigious family that had been passed down from generation to generation in the empire, so Vivian was also skilled in swordsmanship.

Thanks to this, she was able to cut off the express to the underworld by knocking out all the thieves that were attacking in droves.

But Vivian's ordeal had just begun.

"Kreurreung."

Inside the thieves' garrison, after removing the cloth covered in a suspicious shape, a beast was hiding inside the huge iron cage.

A huge black lion with golden eyes shining brightly through jet black fur.

He was clearly the male lead, Aslan Rezef Astaroth.
