Huo Mian liked such honesty and practicality.
They were lacking a free dinner. Huo Mian had tried all sorts of expensive food but she knew how grateful Han Yueyao felt towards them. Huo Mian believed that gratitude was a rare feat.
Although Huo Mian had met Han Yueyao and Zeng Rou later in her life, she didn’t like Zeng Rou. It might have been how Zeng Rou was; she did a good job pretending in the beginning, but she eventually showed her true colours.
Zeng Rou would take other people’s good deeds to her for granted, and she would blame others for her mischiefs.
Huo Mian could not be true friends with that type of people.
“Sure. I’ll look forward to you treating us to lobsters,” Su Yu said as he raised his glass of beer and clanked with Han Yueyao’s cup.
“Mian, I’ll do my best tomorrow,” Han Yueyao said it as if she was making a promise to Huo Mian.
“You don’t need to give yourself so much pressure. As long as you do your best, the results don’t matter…”
Huo Mian knew that the entertainment industry was a hedonistic place. People would need to compete for all shows. If they can’t get a good ranking amongst the competition, they would be disqualified.
This nature creates a complicated tension between people. Even if they were friends, they could become enemies in the very next second.
When they finished eating barbeque, it was almost 10 PM.
Huo Mian wanted Su Yu to drive Han Yueyao home but Su Yu said she should send everyone home in her RV.
Both Su Yu and Han Yueyao got on Huo Mian’s RV.
They first drove Han Yueyao back to her employee dorm. Then, Huo Mian ordered the driver to go to Su Yu’s mansion.

The trip was rather long, taking approximately 40 minutes by driving.
Su Yu took advantage of this time to have a more private conversation.
“Mian, I have many questions to ask you. There’s too many questions, so I’ll ask them one by one.”
“Okay.” Huo Mian did not refuse as she seemed to understand where Su Yu was getting at.
“Regarding Zeng Rou’s disappearance, it doesn’t seem to be so simple. Did you get fired from South Side because of this?”
“Yeah. Secretary Zeng came. Although he didn’t say anything, I can tell he’s very unhappy with me… But Director Wu is innocent. He didn’t deal with things at South Side for a long time, but he was still dragged into this. That’s why we were both fired.”
“Do you know where Zeng Rou is? Qin Chu and Gao Ran are investigating, right?”
“Yeah, they have been but haven’t found anything. We don’t even know if she’s dead or alive. It’s really not looking good.”
“Okay, let’s put her aside. The second question I have for you is regarding the car accident with me and Han Yueyao. You know something I don’t, right?”
“Yeah.” Huo Mian honestly admitted.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“You were recovering. I was afraid you’d feel worse if I told you… I wanted to help you resolve it after we figure out the problem.”
“You didn’t expect that you wouldn’t be able to find this person, eh?” Su Yu chuckled.
“Yeah. You investigated for a long time too, right?” Huo Mian knew that Su Yu was a careful person.
“An and I have been investigating but that person disappeared. He just vanished as if he didn’t exist.”
“The harder it is to find the truth, the stronger the opponent. Su Yu, you’ve probably gotten on the wrong side of many people throughout the years. We can’t look into each one of your enemies, so you need to keep in mind that this car accident wasn’t just an ordinary accident. You almost lost your life so you must be extra careful. Your enemies are spying you in the shadows but you’re all open out here,” Huo Mian cautioned.
“Mian, are you worried about me?” Su Yu suddenly asked.
