Chapter 3: Chapter 3 – Kenny

Arthur and Mark were drinking their coffee and discussing something when a lady and a middle-aged man came to them. She has bandages around her head. Also, looking at her expression, you can tell she was terrified. 

"Excuse me, who is Mark Barron?" the lady asked them awkwardly while looking at them. She wasn't sure who Mark was because of this awkwardly asked them. 

" Hello, my name is Mark. Are you the person who previously talked to me?" Mark asked her while putting her coffee cup on the table. He was observing the lady and the man. Arthur is also doing the same thing. 

Arthur also observed them. Suddenly, his mobile vibrated. He quickly unlocked the phone. He already knows how the skill works. This skill will simply show you the other person's name and some minor details. He got a new application on his mobile. The name of the application is "Status". Like the "My status" application, this "Status " application also shows status but doesn't show his status but the other person's status who he was observing.

" Name: Kenny Mathu

Age: 23

Job: Jain shopping mall worker

[She is the victim.] " 

" Name: John Mathu

Age: 40

Job: A small restaurant owner

[He is the father of Kenny.]. " 

Arthur also guessed that the middle-aged man could be this girl's father. Now, he is confirmed. But he said nothing; he was waiting for Mark to talk with them. He needed to make a good impression on them. 

" Yes, Hello Mr. Mark. Yesterday, I talked to you about the case," the replied. 

"Nice to meet you, Ms. Kenny. Looking at the person behind, I can guess he should be your father." Mark said. Kenny nodded, hearing him.

" Very good. Now Ms. Kenny. Please sit down. So that we can discuss your case." Mark said to them while pointing two seats to them.

"Now, before we discuss your case, let me introduce you to my friend, who will investigate your case. He is my best friend Arthur Fernandes." Mark said and introduced Arthur to them. 

"Hello," Arthur simply said hello to them. 

"Also, you don't need to worry, Miss Kenny. My friend also is a good detective. So, you can relax and tell him all the details of your case. Now, excuse me, Miss Kenny. Like I previously said, I am very busy at this moment, so I needed to go. Arthur is here. You freely discuss with him your case," seeing the anxious face of Kenny, Mark assured her that his friend Arthur was also a good detective. After that, he left the cafe saying that he was busy solving another case. Because it was an important moment for Arthur and he didn't want to interfere with it.

Arthur POV: 

I am still looking at Kenny. I can tell that she is still anxious and didn't believe in him. When she heard ‌Mark needed to go, she became more anxious. 

"Relax, Miss Kenny. You are only 23 years old, you should not stress yourself this much. Now calm down, take a deep breath and tell me all the details." Seeing that the girl was very anxious, I realized ‌I needed to show my capability or she wouldn't believe me. 

"How… How did you know my age?" Kenny and John are surprised when they hear Arthur telling Kenny's age accurately. 

"Oh nothing special, Miss Kenny. By looking at your face, I can tell your age is not over 25. Also, you are working in the Jain shopping mall. So, you are at least 21 years old. But then if you are new at this job, then you won't be able to tell Mark that you are a Jain shopping mall worker. You need at least 2 years' experience to become a permanent worker in this Jain shopping mall. You previously mentioned that you are a Jain shopping mall worker, so it means you have at least two years of experience in this shopping mall. With this, I guess your age should be 23." I explained to them how I guessed her age. I don't know what happened, but after this explanation, I can tell Kenny isn't that anxious. It seems she started to believe in me. 

"Miss Kenny and Mr..." 

"John… John Mathu," John introduced him, seeing that I didn't know his name.

"So, yea skinny and miss John, please you can relax and believe in me. I will use all of my strength to solve your case." I said to them with a confident tone. Now I am not the previous Arthur, this will be my turning point. 

Kenny looked at him. After hearing his confident tone, she also believed that Arthur will be able to solve her case. She gulped a glass of water and calmed herself down.

" Mr. Arthur, as you guessed, I have worked in this shopping mall for 2 years. I never faced a situation like this. I don't know what Mr. Mark told you, but I also didn't tell him that much. As you know, the Jain shopping mall is in the West plaza and my home is near it. From the west area, I have two roads, from which you can go to my house. One is the long road that I normally take, and the other is the alleyway. It took me 30 minutes to reach home if I took the normal road, but with the alleyway, I only needed 10 minutes to reach home."

" Because Christmas is near, all the workers are very busy with their work. Normally I leave the shopping mall at 8:00 p.m. But yesterday, because of the many people, my coworker and I could not leave early. We only get to leave the mall when it is 9:00 p.m. I really take the alleyway at night time. As you know, it was very dangerous for a lady to travel at night in an alleyway. But yesterday I was exhausted and wanted to go home quickly, so I walked in the alleyway. The alleyway didn’t have light. Because of this, I am using the mobile flashlight."

" I did not see anyone or hear anyone’s voice in the alleyway ‌ after walking for some time. So I was a little relaxed. Even so, I rushed. I wanted to exit the alleyway as quickly as I could, because it was very dark here. A few minutes later, when I can see the exit of this shortcut, I suddenly hear someone calling me. It made me terrified. Even so, I turned around and tried to find the person who was calling me. But you won't believe I did not see anyone. I clearly hear that someone is calling me, but then where is that person? See you, no one behind me makes me more scared. So I started running toward the exit."
