Once Blake used the skill, he didn't become part of the shadows. He simply hid within them, meaning that physical attacks were still effective against him.

Still, it was impossibly hard to find him within the shadows, since he basically merged with them. However, this monster did just that. Barely a second later, the grey human was upon Blake, punching into the shadows with his enormous fist.

Thankfully, using the Authority of Time, Blake predicted the attack and dodged it in time. He swam within the shadows until eventually decided to come out. Yes, he was much faster within them, but he couldn't fight back and was an open target.

That was the unfortunate flaw of this skill.

"Was it you who caused all this trouble?" The monster spoke loudly, his voice echoing throughout the underground base. Blake frowned, finally understanding that it was Ogami who was standing before him.

Was this the Orochimaru blessing that he talked about? Well, it looked much more like a curse.

"It was not me?" Blake raised his hand in confusion, trying to act oblivious.

Well, it wasn't that effective.

"I knew there was something wrong with me from the beginning." Ogami grabbed a body of a dead prisoner from the ground. "Orochimaru probably won't be too mad about this mess if I offer him an interesting toy."

Then, he appeared right in front of Blake, who was already shifting his body weight to the side. Ogami's punch passed a few centimeters from his face, and Blake used this little period of time to stab the monster with his axe.

Unfortunately, there was too little strength to do any actual damage, and Blake didn't even penetrate Ogami's skin. Because of that, Blake was left completely exposed and even his authority didn't help him any bit.

A powerful punch landed on his stomach, sending him flying away as he collided with the nearest wall. Blake couldn't even release air from his lungs when his authority activated again, forcing him to slide into the shadows.

Ogami appeared a second later, hitting the spot where he had been, his hand getting stuck in the wall.

'My ribs are broken.' Blake cursed, thinking violently about what to do. His regeneration and endurance had stayed the same since he had yet to distribute the free points, meaning that the injury was lethal.

'No, using the points to increase my regeneration or endurance won't get me out of this situation.' Blake continued to think, peeking a glance at the staircase leading above. He could make a run for it, but Ogami would eventually catch him even if he escaped.

He had to somehow kill this monster.

'What I currently lack the most is penetrating power. I can dodge his attacks, but I can't do any damage.' Blake focused on the screen in his mind, acting swiftly. There was no moment of any indecisiveness as Ogami had already located him.

Distributing all his free points into strength, Blake suddenly felt like he could lift a mountain. Not willing to let go of this feeling, Blake forced himself out of the shadows, catching Ogami by surprise as he couldn't halt all his weight.

Blake gripped his axe with newfound strength as shadows swirled around him. They extended and touched with his hand, spreading from his wrist towards the weapon.

Then, Blake slashed the axe with everything he had. Ogami raised an eyebrow, or whatever remained of it after the transformation, and protected his head with his hands.

However, Blake changed the course of his attack at the last moment. Shifting all that accumulated weight was extremely difficult, as Blake felt multiple bones in his wrist break. Yet, it was not for naught.

The axe ripped through Ogami's flesh like butter, cutting through the spot where his lungs should be located. It was about to come out from the other side of Ogami's body when Blake suddenly felt resistance to his attack.

Ogami used his two hands to stop the axe from causing any further damage. Of course, Ogami's hands weren't left unscathed either, but it turned out to be an effective way of keeping his life.

Now at the stalemate, Ogami raised his hand and punched forth, but Blake had already disappeared within the shadows.

"How are you doing this?" Ogami mumbled, fully knowing that Blake was listening from the shadows. There was no anger remaining in his voice, only weakness, and confusion.

"Well, it's quite easy to dodge when such a gorilla is attacking."

Ogami didn't get mad at the obvious provocation and instead glanced down at his opened bondmen. Blood was pouring out like a river. Even with the curse mark, it was doubtful that he would survive.

Ogami then glanced at Blake, who had come out from the shadows and stood in the midst of the bodies. At first, Ogami simply thought of him as strange, but now, he saw a predator... and a liability.

The man was dangerous. Not to him, but to his master. Orochimaru. Perhaps it was Blake's strange abilities that frightened him, or perhaps it was his past.

Silently, behind his back, Ogami took out a kunai. Its end was braced in something purple. Ogami didn't care about pride, for he couldn't have such a thing when his life belonged to Orochimaru. If he was about to die, then why would he not drag someone of threat with him?

Then, Ogami rushed forward as if an injury had never opened up his insides. As earlier, Blake dodged and responded with a swing of his axe, which was covered in darkness.

It once again ripped through his flesh, yet Ogami didn't care to stop it. Instead, he stroked down at Blake with the poisoned kunai as the masked man once again tried to hide within the shadows.

However, Ogami's attack covered a larger area than before and, whether it was within the shadows or not, his attack would still connect. Perhaps if Blake's dexterity was higher, he would have been able to evade, but it was limited right now.

The kunai penetrated Blake's wrist and he felt intense heat spreading through his body. On the other hand, Ogami fell to the ground, dead. The injuries were too serious.

'Shit.' Blake grabbed the kunai and threw it away, seeing a purplish color spread through his veins. For a moment, Blake contemplated amputating his hand but soon shrugged it off. It had probably already spread through his entire body.

'At least its effect is not immediate.' Blake forced a smile out, lifting his head to look at the devasting scene. There were bodies and blood everywhere he looked. It looked like a scene straight out of hell.

And in the distance, he saw the stairs leading up.

The path out was just a few meters away.

Yet.

Blake didn't leave immediately.

'Why do I keep having these thoughts?'
