Chapter 29: Chapter 29: First Impression

To say they ate until they licked their fingers was not a lie.

When Mito learned that she had even more rabbit meat, which was used 'only' three kilos of nearly 80 kilos, she told Tsunade a generous piece to make for lunch tomorrow.

Nawaki didn't care. Now that he confirmed that he was able to bring the monstrous animals from the hunting dimension, it wouldn't be difficult to catch other rabbits that were easily found.

The problem was that the lie Tsunade told might have worked now, but the same couldn't be said if a second rabbit appeared...

Mikoto had also arrived and was chatting with Hikari as usual. Noticing Nawaki, her smile was more vibrant, with a hint of shyness and kindness: "Nawaki, you're here. Good Morning."

Nawaki smiled, "Good morning, Mikoto."

"Nawaki… Good morning." The shy Hyuga took the initiative to say good morning to him, something rare.

Nawaki approached and smiled at her, "Good morning, Hikari."

Seeing Nawaki's smile up close, Hikari's cheeks up to her ear turn red.

Suddenly, a boy with dark green hair and black eyes, a well-built body for his age, said as he pointed his finger in Nawaki's direction: "Nawaki! I mean, today I'm going to challenge you to a duel and if I lose I'll write my name backwards!"

"Mirim, is your name backwards the same?!" A boy next to him elbowed him.

"Is that so?" Mirim looked like she didn't even know that as she foolishly scratched her head.

"Man, you are too dumb!" The boy from before screamed.

Nawaki was not shaken, he even smiled a little: "Alright, I accept your challenge."

It was rare for students to challenge him. Nawaki wouldn't discourage the boy even though he was a bit dumb...

A while later, sensei entered the classroom.

The students were still talking, some even shouting loudly.

"Silence!" Sensei's voice was shrill.

"..."

The students were silent.

"You can come in now."

After those words left sensei's mouth, a girl entered the classroom.

However, the girl's hair color made the students feel awkward.

Some even started to mumble.

"I've seen this girl before with Nawaki-sama..."

The girls' gaze became a little strange, even some looked jealous at the thought that she was close to Nawaki.

"Class, this is our new classmate." The sensei said, "For personal reasons, she moved to the village and is new to the village, be kind to her."

Then sensei gestured for Kushina to introduce herself. "You can say what you like and don't like and your dream if you don't know what to say."

She nodded.

"Hello everybody. My name is Kushina Uzumaki." She said hurriedly, "I like fun stuff and sealing jutsu. I particularly hate bitter and spicy food, and my dream... Is to be a powerful Kunoichi in Sealing Techniques like Mito-sama dattebane!"

The boys didn't react much to Kushina's words. Although they admired Mito Uzumaki, it was, after all, the Hokage they most admired and aspired to be.

However, the girls had a different reaction, but it wasn't extreme. Many had no affinity for Sealing Techniques.

After that, sensei called for a round of applause and designated an empty seat for Kushina to sit.

When she finally sat down, Kushina breathed a sigh of relief.

She was very nervous a while ago, and ended up saying her dream openly and even blurting out 'dattebane' that she so badly wanted to avoid talking about.

Sensei no longer postponed the class. The first classes were full-morning literacy classes.

When noon came, Nawaki went to Kushina and said, "Come, let's eat together."

"Yea." Kushina looked up, and her eyes lit up at the sight of Nawaki.

The students didn't even have a chance to surround Kushina to feed their curiosity about her, so they backed off when Nawaki called Kushina to eat.

Nawaki also called Mikoto who brought Hikari with her.

When they arrived at a more secluded spot, Nawaki placed a towel on the floor.

"Nawaki, didn't you say you brought a lunch box?" Mikoto asked while in her hand was a bag made of cloth and something square seemed to be inside the bag.

"Mm." Nawaki smiled and took out a scroll tied to his waist.

Opening it, he spread it out on the towel and made a seal with his hand: "Release!"

White smoke rose, then three two-story tupperware appeared.

Unpacking the lunchboxes, he opened one, and soon the delicious smell of rabbit meat stew rose.

Needless to say Nawaki, all three girls swallowed a mouthful of saliva.

"My God! How can it smell so good?" Even Mikoto, who is always so calm, lost her composure a bit.

"Haha, it smells good, yes? That's why I didn't want to open it while in the classroom." Nawaki laughed.

"Is it the same rabbit meat we ate yesterday dattebane?!" Just remembering the taste made Kushina daydream.

"Yes, let's eat, although it's still hot because it's sealed in the parchment, if we take too long it'll get cold." Nawaki said and opened all the lunchboxes and shared the food with them.

As there was one more person, he emptied one of them by mixing the rice in one of the lunchboxes.

"Thank you, Nawaki..." Hikari's small, shy voice was barely audible.

"Don't worry about it, just enjoy it." Nawaki smiled.

He knew the benefits of rabbit meat, yet he wouldn't be mean to his fiancée's friend.

"Delicious, delicious~" Kushina hummed after chewing.

She liked the roasted rabbit meat, but she also really liked the stew.

When Mikoto and Hikari tried it out, their reaction was no less than Kushina's, their eyes almost glowed like stars.

It wasn't like they'd never eaten good food before, but the rabbit meat was just too good!

Nawaki smiled when he saw that everyone was enjoying it and started to eat too.

Mikoto laughed suddenly: "I also brought a lunch box, but I don't even feel like eating it anymore."

Hikari was the same. After tasting the rabbit stew, it would be weird if she still wanted to eat her lunch box.
