Chapter 5: The bell test and some announcements about the book

Author Here!  I will be cutting back on the release schedule, to about one chapter per week, so that I can try to focus on quality more.  Please tell me what you feel I am doing wrong and what you feel I am doing well in this book in the comment section of each chapter.  Constructive criticism works best.  I will be taking a Hiatus next week, as I will be visiting with family members that I only see twice a year.  Part of this decision came from the fact that I haven’t felt well lately.  Enjoy the chapter.

(Later that same day)

[At the third training field, 9:00]

He should have been here by now!  Where is he?(Sakura)

Sorry I’m late, I got stuck on the walk of life.  While I was on my walk, I ran into someone.(K)

Yeah Yeah.(R)

*Looks unhappy about being carried, but is secretly happy about it.*

Why is she being carried?(N)

Because he has the dumb idea that I can’t walk right now, much less fight.  I’m perfectly fine!(R)

Okay, okay, I’ll set you down.  I need my hands for the test anyways.(K)

*Upon being set down, her legs last for about 10 seconds before collapsing under her, just enough time for her to say “See?  I’m perfectly fine!” before being immediately proved wrong by her legs collapsing under her.*

The bell test went almost exactly like how it did in canon.  The only change was that Kakashi sat and watched them during the second part from a distance with the fox while she ate.  They were hidden, of course.

So, to be 100% certain, your analysis of them is that Sakura is nearly useless, Sauske has an inferiority complex and refuses to work with anyone or train, Naruto is completely unaware of everything relating to being a ninja except for the academy jutsu and that you have to be a shinobi to be Hokage, and the fox needs extensive care before she will be able to do anything because of how badly she has been treated by the village.  Is that right?(H)

Yes.  I decided to take care of Rita when she fainted last night.  Did you know she had never had actual food before I gave her breakfast this morning.(K)

You do realize that unless you adopt her, her condition isn’t going to get a whole lot better.(H)

Is it even legal to adopt a jinchuriki?(K)

As long as the civilian council doesn’t know that she’s technically a jinchuriki until after she’s been adopted, yes.(H)

Why is the Civilian council the ones deciding if one who is technically a part of the shinobi of Konoha can be adopted?(K)

The council is corrupt thanks to Danzo, and they are too powerful, and blocked me back when we were trying to decide who got to adopt Naruto, and so I fear they might do so again.  While I have been a senile old fool who has been trying to please everyone instead of acting like a leader.  I was too soft, and now it’s too late to clean them out one by one.  But that matter can wait.  Also, I suggest you adopt her.  She seems to be very smart and can be stealthy.  She connected dots that I never did, and raided ROOT in order to find out all of what Danzo did.  She’s actually the one who realized that your father didn’t commit suicide willingly, and the one who figured out that Danzo is the one who led to Minato and Kushina’s deaths.(H)

Is all of this info legitimate?(K)

Yes.  She brought scrolls of orders given by Danzo.  Some of them are even signed by him, and all of them were written in the cipher ROOT uses.  She said that she figured out what his crimes were and what those scrolls contained thanks to the fact that one of the ROOT members wasn’t brainwashed correctly, and so he was left with an awful habit of quietly muttering what he read, word for word, under his breath.  He also happened to be a records-keeper, responsible for making sure that all the most important scrolls were all there and none were fakes.  He did this by reading them all to be sure that nothing has changed from the last time he read them, which would indicate a fake or that someone unauthorized had read it, as they might not know how to properly open the container the scroll is in, which would likely change the contents of the scroll, thanks to a nifty little paint trick.  This is to be kept an SS-rank secret for now.  Only You, Me, the fox, Jiraiya, and Danzo know this.  Nobody else is to know for now.(H)

Author note: The next few chapters will be about the mission to protect Tazuna.  I hope it will be good.  Also, for everyone’s knowledge, I know that in canon befriending a bijuu as it’s jinchuriki means you can use all its power, but that will not be how it works for my webnovel.  Well, maybe not for everyone.  Naruto is a bit special, and he will be able to use Kurama’s full power once he has befriended him, but he will have had to train his body to be able to handle his power the first time.  After that his body will have adapted to it, so he won’t have to train as hard.  And don’t worry, the fox will soon make a couple mistakes, and gain a rather fearsome power…  But that won’t be for a while.  Thanks for reading and hanging in there with me everyone.  Also, I am going to try to release on fridays.  There will be no Friday chapter this week, as i am visiting family.
