Chapter 2172.1: Face Slapping

Where did that woman come from? She’s only golden core, but she easily defeats numerous nascent soul opponents… Young master Lin’s thoughts flew rapidly.

The other two noble scions with Cloudexit also had their misgivings and didn’t say anything.

“Hide behind a woman?” An astonished Lu Yun turned around to look at Fengxian Wu. “I’m obviously standing right in front of her, is Sir Cloudexit’s head screwed on right?”

“You…” Cloudexit turned beet red.

“Cut the crap, this young master is here to watch beasts fight. Eh, no, I’m here to watch people fight, not argue with you guys.” Lu Yun held his hand out for a metal chain that Zhao Chenguang passed over to him. He casually tied it to Li Wei’s neck and kicked the man in the back of the knees.

Li Wei thumped to a kneeling position on the ground, unable to resist because his cultivation was sealed by Lu Yun’s talisman.

“I hear that human pets are all the rage these days, so here is mine. Which one of you guys wants to put him through his paces?” Lu Yun kicked Li Wei in the butt and punted him into the ringed enclosure.

Cloudexit was nearly apoplectic with fury. Li Wei was a Nineheavens Pagoda disciple and currently his guard. A nascent soul cultivator enjoyed decent status in a fourth rank empire!

If it wasn’t for the sect leader doting on his son so much, he wouldn’t have sent so many nascent soul cultivators as Li Wei’s guard. Lu Yun treating one of them as a human pet was a vicious slap at the sect’s face.

But after the Nineheavens Pagoda crippled Lu Xiaochi three years ago and given how they plainly wanted to eliminate the Lus this time, Lu Yun couldn’t be bothered to put on an amiable facade for them.

At the same time, Helian Shan’s interference and killing of Xu Lang proved quite deterring for the Dark Orchid cultivators. The other three young masters from that nation looked at each other, reading gravity in their peers’ eyes.

“I’d like to see who dares bet against Lu Yun!!” Cloudexit’s infuriated voice rang out clearly.

“Hahahaha, isn’t this the nascent soul powerhouse Li Wei of the Nineheavens Pagoda? When did he become a human pet? How interesting. I happen to have a second rank blaze lion with me today. Why don’t I take Sir Lu Yun up on your offer?” another voice sounded immediately after.

A young man dressed in long ivory robes with a beautiful piece of jade around his waist strolled out of another pavilion, entering the one that Lu Yun and the others were in.

“This must be Miss Feng Wu. Greetings, I am Yang Qing.” The young man swept a genteel bow at Fengxian Wu as soon as he walked in.

Fengxian Wu glanced at him and ignored the young man. Yang Qing rubbed his nose, not minding the snub.

“Yang Qing! How dare people from the Ascension Sword Sect show their face in a Dark Orchid vassal nation?!” Cloudexit roared when he saw the young man.

“Only trash like you would ask such an idiotic question, Xu Chuyun.” Yang Qing cast a sidelong glance at Cloudexit.

Lu Yun’s eyes darted rapidly between them as he grasped what was playing out before him. The matter of the dao weapon had raised a great furor in the fourth and fifth rank empires. All manner of great factions had sent their disciples to investigate. Leading the delegations were the most accomplished of the younger generation. It was plainly also a journey to temper the younger disciples.

There were no dao weapons in fourth and fifth rank nations. The appearance of one was sufficient to tilt the balance of power between the cultivation empires. The older generation checked each other and had reached an agreement that the younger generation should take point this time. Thus, Sir Lin and Yang Qing were the unofficial heirs to their faction since they captained their delegations.

Cloudexit was an exception.

“Sir Lu, I’ll bet against you. How about it?” Yang Qing smiled faintly at Lu Yun.

“Don’t you dare, Lu Yun!” Cloudexit jumped out while everyone else looked on coldly. “Yang Qing is from Skypine Empire, the enemy of Dark Orchid! You’d be a traitor if you dare take the bet!”

“What an idiot,” Lu Yun snorted. “Since you are from Skypine, Sir Yang, then I cannot back down! Beating you would be winning glory for Dark Orchid!”

Yang Qing blinked, then smiled radiantly. “Good, good, very good! Although Sir Lu is young, your aspirations are great. Here, I will bet one hundred paramount rank spirit stones against you. They are yours if you win!”

Cloudexit glowered, but there was nothing he could say to Lu Yun. Everything the latter said made sense. As for Li Wei, he’d kept up a litany of curses ever since being thrown into the enclosure.

“Aiya, one hundred paramount rank stones…” A conflicted expression spread across Lu Yun’s face. He had quite a few paramount rank stones after robbing the Ouyang Clan, but they were very useful to him. He wasn’t willing to waste even one out of his tens of thousands.

“How about this, I have a lower spirit rank flying sword here. Will this work as my forfeit?” Lu Yun summoned a cerulean flying sword with a flip of his hand.

It was the one he’d taken from Cloudexit.

“A spirit weapon?” Yang Qing brightened.

“I’m going to kill you, Lu Yun!” Cloudexit bawled with fury. Lu Yun had delivered slap after slap to his face. He was completely humiliated, but couldn’t erupt with fury given that Fengxian Wu was present.

“I’ll take you as my human pet next and bet you against Sir Yang if you keep running your mouth, do you hear me?” Lu Yun suddenly hectored with a chill in his expression.

“You…” Cloudexit had never suffered this kind of humiliation before! It was one thing to be beaten by Lu Yun; how was he supposed to endure repeated degradation?

But when he looked at the deeply amused Fengxian Wu behind Lu Yun, someone who’d stayed silent the entire time, he chose to be quiet. Baleful resentment bloomed in the bottom of his eyes.

“That’s more like it.” Lu Yun cockily shook his head.

Cloudexit nearly spat blood; this was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

“I’m going to kill you, Lu Yun!!” Cloudexit was another unequivocal prodigal who spent his days terrorizing others. He possessed a deeply tyrannical streak, one that was fully aroused by Lu Yun’s last word.

Humm!

His true origin surged as he slammed a palm down on Lu Yun’s chest.

Smack!

The crowd only saw a shadow flash in front of their eyes before Cloudexit spun on the spot. A purplish handprint was as clear as day on his cheek.

“I said that I would take you as a human pet if you kept running your mouth!” Lu Yun flashed behind Cloudexit and grabbed the other’s collar.

“How dare you hit me?!” Cloudexit shrieked incredulously.

“How dare you!” gasped another nascent soul guard next to Cloudexit. Everything happened too quickly for him to react. When he gathered his senses, the young lord was already in Lu Yun’s hands.

“This is bad!” Sir Lin and the other two young masters also reacted with dismay, but Yang Qing was one step ahead of them.

“Gentlemen, I won’t move if you don’t move. If you move… Do you think you’ll be a match for Miss Feng?”

The three trembled like they’d been doused in cold water.

“No, it’s not Feng Wu taking action, but Lu Yun!” Sir Lin realized with shock.

Cloudexit’s other guard was already subdued and wore a talisman on his forehead. No one could tell how Lu Yun had accomplished the deed. A foundation establishment cultivator taking down a golden core and nascent soul cultivator by himself? It would be one thing if Lu Yun came from a higher rank empire, but he was just a good-for-nothing from a third rank empire!

“Alright, Sir Yang. I now have three human pets and can bet against you.”

Cloudexit and his other guard were frozen by talismans. Their eyes bulged with fury as Lu Yun treated them as human pets.

“Well…” Yang Qing hesitated. As lofty as Li Wei and the other fellow was, they were just disciples of the Nineheavens Pagoda. But Xu Chuyun was different, he was the sect leader’s only son and deeply beloved. If Yang Qing really treated him as a human pet, he wouldn’t make it out of Darklake alive!

“Lu Yun, you’re creating trouble for your clan!” Sir Lin took a stilted step forward.

“Creating trouble?” Lu Yun blinked. “If I might know your name…”

“Dark Orchid, the Lin Clan, Lin Qi,” the young man snorted.

“So you’re from the Lins of Dark Orchid?” Lu Yun cocked his head with a supercilious smile. “I wonder what is this trouble that Sir Lin speaks of?”

“Lu Yun, don’t presume that the law enforcer will always protect the Lu Clan after intervening once!” The other two Dark Orchid young masters took a step forward and stood side by side with Lin Qi. Unlike Cloudexit, they were elites of their family instead of prodigals. While they were sometimes up to no good, they were completely different from Cloudexit.

“What, do the three of you wish to interfere in the feud between the Nineheavens Pagoda and my family?”

Smack!

Lu Yun turned back and slapped Cloudexit across the face, making his other cheek swell up.

“You!” shouted the three to see Lu Yun slap Cloudexit again.

Yang Qing backed away, regarding the situation with a cold eye. Skypine and Dark Orchid were opposing nations; he was delighted to see an enemy beset with internal strife.
