When they got back to Mountain View, Priscilla, Emilio, Ayanna, Miguel, and Veronica were happily chatting in the living room. The group was surprised when Cedric and his companions got home looking like they had gone through hell and back.
"Did the Hernandezes chew you out or something?" Miguel teased. Cedric responded to him with an icy glare that made the usually chatty Miguel shut his mouth.
"It's nothing I can't handle." Cedric said as he pulled Adrianna to go up to their room to rest.
When they got to their room Cedric hugged his wife tightly, unwilling to let her go.
"Cedric, I'm not going anywhere. You will protect me." Adrianna said as she hugged him back. She was disgusted with her family for even thinking that they could send her off to be some man's mistress.
"I will do anything and everything to protect you and our little one." Cedric said as he kissed his wife.
"I can't believe my own family would do that." Adrianna sat and suddenly burst into tears. Cedric pulled her into his arms again as she cried against his chest.
"Adrianna, I'm your family now. Me, my parents, my sister, our friends. We will make sure nothing bad ever happens to you, and should you want it, we will also make sure you get revenge on those that hurt you." Cedric told his wife as he caressed her hair.
Adrianna had managed to cry herself to sleep on the couch. Cedric carried his pregnant wife, gave her a bath, dressed her, and placed her on their bed.
"I heard that talking to you will make you a smarter child." Cedric whispered as he touched his wife's baby bump. "Your mom and I can't wait to meet you, little one. I want to hold you in my arms and spoil you." Cedric leaned down and kissed the bump gently before cleaning up and going to sleep himself. In the past, he had never thought of kids, he had always been focused on his poverty training or in building Mor Co., having a child was not something he and Adrianna had spoken about before. Now that they had one on the way, Cedric was excited, he was honestly hoping for a girl, so that she could be as pretty as her mother, but he didn't have an issue with a boy either since the life of a Reyes Heir was difficult and he didn't want to see his daughter go through what he had to. Despite everything, life was still tougher for girls.
The next day, Cedric was surprised to see Adrianna up so early and getting ready for work.
"Shouldn't you be asleep?" Cedric asked as he kissed Adrianna.
"Mmm. I slept so soundly last night that I woke up early." Adrianna explained.
"Don't tire yourself too much today. If there are any issues at Island's Inc. call me or any of the boys, or even Ayanna. We can all deal with it for you." Cedric reminded Adrianna. He was genuinely worried that the Hernandez family would try to pull a dangerous stunt just to get Adrainna to do what they wanted.
"I'm sure Mia will tell you if something is wrong. Now go to work." Adrianna said as she pushed her husband out of the door.
Cedric had every reason to be worried, and he was rightfully so. When Adrianna arrived at Island's Inc. she noticed that none of the employees greeted her or looked her in the eye. She already had a gut feeling that the Hernandez family had pulled a terrible stunt.
When Adrianna got to her office she found Mia arguing with security as one of her elder male cousins stood by as the security team threw out Adrianna's things into the hallway.
"What's the meaning of this?" Adrianna demanded.
"Ah cousin. After your little scene last night you no longer work for Island's Inc." Her older cousin said with a grin.
"I'll speak to Uncle Matthew about this." Adrianna said as she turned to head to the President's office.
"Uncle Matthew isn't in charge anymore." Her older cousin said with a chuckle. "Poor Margaret, losing everything because her father decided to stand up for you. You should have done as grandpa had asked Adrianna. Now even Uncle Matthew and Margaret will have to suffer because of you." Her cousin mocked.
"Who's in charge now?" Adrianna asked as she ignored his side comments.
"Grandpa is back, and trust me, you can't convince him. You and your good for nothing husband turned your back on him and walked out. Grandpa won't be forgiving you at all. How will you survive without the Hernandez family." Her cousin mocked.
"You guys can have this stupid company." Adrianna was furious, she thought that their cruelty would end with her, she was mistaken. They had made Uncle Matthew and Margaret suffer as well. "Mia, have someone bring my things home." Adrianna ordered.
Mia nodded and quickly dialed a number. Two men soon came up and carried Adrianna's things to the car.
"Wow Adrianna. You really are some rich man's mistress. Don't pretend to be so high and mighty." Her cousin accused.
"Miss Adrianna is no man's mistress." Mia told the man.
"Thank you Mia. Let's go." Adrianna said as she turned to leave.
In the car she quickly dialed Cedric's number. It took a while before he could pick the call up since he was in a meeting. By the time he answered her call Adrianna was sobbing.
"Hun, what's wrong?" Cedric said in a tender voice.
"They kicked me out, and on top of that they kicked Uncle Matthew and Margaret out too. I'm not sure if Henry is still there either. I didn't see him, but Henry is a survivor." Adrianna managed to say in between sobs.
"Adri, go home first. You don't need to work anyway. I'll give the girls a call and ask them to keep you company." Cedric said over the phone in an attempt to calm his wife down.
"No need. I'll call Julia, Sofia, and Natasha over." Adrianna said as her sobbing eased.
"I'll have someone find Uncle Matthew, Margaret, and Henry." Cedric told her over the phone.
"I hate my emotions. I hate being emotional." Adrianna said.
"Honey, you're pregnant. It's normal. Now go home to Mountain View and we'll talk when I get home. I love you." Cedric told his wife.
"I love you too, Cedric. I'll see you tonight." Adrianna said as she dropped the call.
"Mrs. Reyes, I'll have the security cars surround us now." Mia said as she radioed the other vehicles in their convoy to appear. Cedric had given them instructions that if anything bad were to happen while they were at Island's Inc. they would heighten security.
When Adrianna got to Mountain View she took a warm bath to relax. When she was done a maid told her that Julia, Sofia, and Natasha had all arrived and were waiting for her at the living room. Adrianna thanked the maid and picked up a few gifts she had bought for her friends in the past before finally going down.
When she joined them in the living room she found her friends staring at various points of the house in awe as a smug Veronica sat among them.
