Cedric quickly recovered from the shock of his wife's words and walked quickly after her, down the hall and towards Dr. Santos' clinic.
"How can you say I'm not nice?" Cedric grumbled as he opened the door for Adrianna.
Adrianna simply looked up at her husband and smiled as she walked into the doctor's office.
"You just aren't to most people." Adrianna told Cedric.
"I've done so many charitable things, how can you say I'm not nice." Cedric complained to his wife.
"That's different, you scare people, you intimidate them, especially with this whole CEO persona of yours." Adrianna said with a shrug. "Just like your dad."
"She is right, you know." Dr. Santos said as she joined in on the conversation.
"I am not like my father." Cedric argued as he crossed his arms on his chest and shook his head. "My dad enjoys intimidating people, he likes people being afraid of him."
"Just like you." Dr. Santos teased. She had known both Emilio and Priscilla Reyes since she was Lucy Chan's prodigy. As a matter of fact she had even helped in multiple deliveries for various Reyes relatives.
"You know that it is useless to complain about you having a CEO persona." Adrianna told her husband with a smile. "I think it's hot." She said with a wink.
"You're just trying to tease me now." Cedric said, shaking his head.
"Why, don't we just get on with this check up so that you love birds can fly home and flirt with one another away from jealous ears?" The doctor teased.
One of Cedric's bodyguards couldn't help but laugh at what the doctor had said.
Cedric turned and glared at him, making him stand straight and attempt to regain his composure. No matter how funny the joke was, nothing was scarier than getting on Cedric's bad side.
"Alright doc." Cedric said with a shrug as Dr. Santos smiled at the couple.
"Good, now how have you been?" Dr. Santos began as she proceeded to ask Adrianna a series of questions, quickly noting down her answers.
When Dr. Santos was finally satisfied that Adrianna was doing well, she then gave them a list of vitamins that she wanted Adrianna to take in order to help with the pregnancy.
"It seems like this one is giving you an easier time compared to Yoyo." Dr. Santos commented with a smile.
"Well he better be." Adrianna said with a laugh. "His dad gave me a hard enough time at the start, I need this one to behave."
"Yeah, I heard about you being in the psych ward for a time, Cedric. How are you now?" Dr. Santos asked with a concerned look on her face.
"Don't worry doc, I'm doing much better." Cedric said with a smile and a nod. "Eric and I still have some therapy sessions, but it's more so that he can check how I'm coping. Cause, well, I wasn't at the start. Coping I mean."
Cedric was quite awkward when it came to speaking about his mental health and his personal condition. It was mainly because, outside his family and group of friends, people didn't seem to ask how he was. They simply assumed he was doing well.
"Cedric? Mr. Reyes?" Dr. Santos asked as she waved her hand in front of his eyes.
"Oh, sorry, what was that?" Cedric asked as he got pulled back from his thoughts and back into the real world. "And please, just Cedric."
"Ced, are you alright?" Adrianna asked with a concerned tone. She knew that Cedric had been working really hard recently and she was now worried about his well being.
"Yeah, I was just thinking of something." Cedric said with a nod.
"What was it?" Adrianna asked her husband. "I mean if you don't mind saying it in front of the doctor." Adrianna gave an apologetic look at Dr. Santos as she realized she should have asked him later.
"I can step out if you need some privacy." Dr. Santos said with a shrug.
"No, it's fine doc." Cedric said with a calm smile. "It was something you said that got me thinking." He confessed.
"Something I said?" The doctor asked slowly, worried that she had offended Cedric.
"Don't worry doc, I appreciated it." Cedric said with a laugh as he realized that the doctor had become worried.
"Oh." Dr. Santos said, at a loss for words.
"People normally don't ask how we are doing." Cedric said with a weak smile. "They assume that since we have money everything is perfect. So it's rare for people to ask how I'm doing." Cedric said with a shrug.
"Even rich people can have problems." Dr. Santos said with a laugh.
"We can, but well, mental illnesses aren't exactly looked on as illnesses by people." Cedric said with a shrug. "Most people would probably just tell me to power through it, then judge me behind my back saying I have no reason to be going through something psychological."
"The mind is an organ just like the heart." Dr. Santos said with a shrug. "I understand that people haven't accepted that completely just yet."
"It was good to hear someone who wasn't part of my family or group of friends ask how I was doing." Cedric said with a smile. "Thank you."
"You're welcome." The doctor said with a nod. "Why don't we head on to the ultrasound and take a look at your little one." Dr. Santos said as she gestured towards the door to her right.
The couple nodded and stood up.
"Doc, can we see the gender now?" Adrianna asked nervously.
"Sorry Adri, not yet, but maybe in a month or two." Dr. Santos told the pregnant woman.
"Alright." Adrianna said with a smile, not discouraged by the fact that she wouldn't be able to find out her child's gender just yet.
Dr. Santos had Adrianna lay on the bed as she placed some gel on her tiny baby bump.
As she looked at the screen, the doctor suddenly gasped, making Cedric sit up and look at his wife with worry.
"Dr. Santos, is something wrong?" Cedric asked the doctor, prepared to hear the worst.
