When Xia Lin was taken back to the Xia family, it was not surprising that many people inside and outside the Xia family were alarmed.
In time, there was an endless stream of visitors, with all sorts of intentions and purposes. They all had no intention of handling the situation, so Xia Lin had Zhou Shuo turn them away.
Apart from Zhou Shuo, the only person who could enter Xia Lin’s bedroom was Xia Liang, the head of the Xia family.
That morning, Xia Lin swallowed half a bowl of porridge with difficulty and saw Xia Liang sitting on the edge of the bed with a stern face, watching him.
The light in the room was still bright, but Xia Lin could no longer see clearly. The tumour was pressing on his optic nerves, turning Xia Liang’s figure into a blurred outline.
“Brother,” he held out his hand in a weak gesture, “don’t be angry, okay?”
Xia Liang had no choice but to hold his hand, “How did the Xia family give birth to such a cold-hearted person like you, we should really change the names of the two of us.”
Xia Lin knew that Xia Liang was angry with him for hiding his illness, and said warmly, “I’m back, aren’t I?”
“Do you think this is the only thing I’m talking about?” Xia Liang said, “Since we were young, I’ve treated you well as an older brother. When Dad wanted to expel you from the family, I couldn’t stop him because I didn’t have enough power in the Xia family. Now that you are so sick, you still want to hide it from me, do you have any heart at all?”
Xia Lin smiled and argued, “Brother you can’t wrong me like this. If I didn’t have a heart, I wouldn’t have rushed to transfer all my shares to you…”
“You think I care about that little shares you’re holding?” Xia Liang unconsciously raised his voice, “If you can live well, I’d rather never want those shares.”
“Brother…” Xia Lin shook Xia Liang’s hand with a bit of a petty meaning.
Xia Liang took a deep breath and changed the subject: “A hospital has been contacted for you, if it can’t be cured in China, we will go abroad…”
“Brother, I don’t want to toss and turn.” Xia Lin knew that Xia Liang would not be able to stop, “I knew about the risks of surgery a long time ago. Because I knew about it, I simply chose to give up. I just want to live out my remaining days in peace and quiet. I don’t want to die lying on a cold operating table.”
Xia Liang was about to persuade him again when Zhou Shuo walked in and said, “Young master, the young master of the Song family is here.”
The young master of the Song family he was referring to was naturally Song Yan.
Xia Liang asked Xia Lin, “Do you want to see him?”
Xia Lin shook his head.
Zhou Shuo added, “He said if the Second Young Master didn’t want to see him, he would wait outside the door until the Second Young Master would let him go.”
Xia Lin laughed bitterly. What was Song Yan up to? He had actually used all those rogue tactics he had used earlier to woo Yu Luotong One by one. Should he be flattered for a moment?”
“It’s better to meet.” Xia Liang actually broke the rules and acted as a peacemaker.

Xia Lin did not speak again.
Xia Liang got up and gave a wink to Zhou Shuo, and the two walked out the door one after the other.
Song Yan was standing in the hall downstairs. The beard on his face hadn’t been shaved for days, and he looked very dishevelled.
Xia Liang walked downstairs and said to Song Yan, “You go up.”
Song Yan’s heart was overjoyed and he was about to take a step when Xia Liang tugged him again and lowered his voice, “Little Lin barely has any thoughts of survival right now. I’m allowing you to see him because I hope you can stimulate his survival instincts, so you’d better behave satisfactorily.”
“I will.” Song Yan nodded and ran upstairs in large strides.
Xia Lin’s vision had degraded so quickly that when Song Yan pushed the door in, he could only faintly see a black outline.
But he knew that it was Song Yan, a figure that he was all too familiar with.
“Xia Lin.” Song Yan sat down on the edge of the bed and took hold of one of Xia Lin’s hands.
Xia Lin subconsciously retracted his hand.
Only then did Song Yan realize that Xia Lin was still receiving an infusion on the back of his hand. After just a few days of not seeing him, his entire body had lost a lot of weight. His face was as pale as paper, and he had long since changed from the Xia Lin he was familiar with.
Xia Lin did not speak. His gaze was lax, as if he was looking at him, but also as if he was not looking at him.
Song Yan was very uncomfortable with such a Xia Lin, he didn’t know how to speak for a while, he deliberated for a long time before saying: “Xia Lin, I know you are angry with me, but you shouldn’t be angry with your own body. Brother Liang said you wouldn’t cooperate with the treatment…I promise you, as soon as you’re cured, I’ll take you to Holland, or maybe France, and we’ll register our marriage there and be partners for life, okay?”
Xia Lin’s gaze finally focused a little: “Marriage?”
“Yes,” Song Yan said eagerly, “I heard that adoption is also allowed in Holland, do you prefer a boy or a girl? How about we have both, one with your surname and one with mine.”
Xia Lin looked at him with a gradually cold gaze, but his voice was very faint: “Song Yan.”
“I’m here.” Song Yan leaned down. His body came a little closer.
“Ten years ago when you confessed to Yu Luotong, you said the same thing, practically…word by word.”
Song Yan’s body froze abruptly.
Xia Lin’s tone revealed a touch of mockery: “Perhaps too much time has passed and you don’t remember. But I, who was with you at the time to embolden you, still remember it all.”
“Song Yan, in your heart, I will always be Yu Luotong’s substitute, right?”
